"Good morning, Lieutenant Hirako."
"Ah~ morning."
Hirako returned the Division Members' pleasantries half-heartedly as he dragged his feet with a listless look on his face.
"Yo, about time you show up, Shinji."
Muyang's head popped up from a pile of documents and welcomed Hirako Shinji with baggy eyes. A Captain's job was nothing to laugh at was something Muyang finally learned firsthand, especially because it has been a while since the 10th Division had the presence of a Captain. For the past few months after taking the Haori of the 10th Division's Captain, Muyang has been busy familiarizing himself with a Captain's job and picking up the slack.
"Ah, what a pain." Hirako Shinji walked into the room and immediately threw himself on the chair as he complained bitterly: "Lieutenant Ida is so cruel for retiring right away. He could've at least waited until things are sorted out. Thanks to him, now I'm stuck with this mountain of work."
"It can't be helped. Lieutenant Ida was getting old, after all." Muyang rubbed his forehead. "Let him retire. He has done a lot for the 10th Division."
"Yeah."
Hirako Shinji nodded as he was not really complaining about Ida Seiji because the man has done a lot for the 10th Division, and he was like a Captain figure for the 10th Division. He simply complained due to the sheer amount of work.
"Oh, what about Murai?"
"That son of a...!" When Muyang mentioned Murai Kana, Hirako Shinji suddenly gritted his teeth. Since Lieutenant Ida had resigned, Murai Kana was supposed to be the next Lieutenant. However, he said that he was far too old and not suited to be a Lieutenant; Therefore, since Hirako Shinji was close with Muyang, and his skill rivaled his, Murai Kana suggested recommended Shinji as the next Lieutenant on the premise that it would be easier to cooperate with Captain as they knew each other. As a result, Hirako Shinji became the Lieutenant, while Murai Kana remained as the 3rd Seat.
"I already asked him to help me last night, but he told me today Shin'ō Academy students graduated. On that note, he planned on going to Shin'ō to check out if there was any promising talent to recruit. Tsk, that sneaky bastard just want to slack off."
Muyang sighed helplessly because Murai Kana's excuse made sense.
"So it's today, huh?" Muyang said as he recalled what happened the day he graduated and smiled.
Suddenly, Muyang got an idea and immediately said with a smile: "Shinji, I think we should be able to find some promising rookies today. I'll head there and check it myself. You wanna tag along?"
"Hm?" Hirako Shinji was surprised at first. Why did Muyang suddenly think of going to Shin'ō? But when he saw the smile on Muyang's face, he finally figured it out.
"You can't do that, Captain. If both Captain and Lieutenant left are absent, what about the paperwork? We can't just leave it all to the 3rd Seat."
"Hey, I don't want to either, but if both Captain and Lieutenant are absent, there was no one else who can handle this job other than the 3rd Seat. I believe our 3rd Seat will handle the paperwork meticulously. Affairs, after all, he is the 10th Division's 3rd Seat!"
"That's..." Hirako Shinji pretended to be surprised.
"Don't tell me you don't trust our 3rd Seat Murai? Now, that's unbecoming of a Lieutenant. The most important thing you must remember is mutual trust. You must remember this!"
"Yes, Captain, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have doubted 3rd Seat Murai. Let's go, then. I have faith that 3rd Seat Murai will be able to handle this paperwork!"
Muyang had a satisfied look on his face and then said out loud: "You heard it yourself, 3rd Seat Murai, come in."
Murai Kana walked in with a displeased look on his face and said, "Captain, I..."
"It's alright! you don't have to say it!" Muyang waved his hand, "I know you must be displeased that Lieutenant Hirako doubted your capability just now, but I believe in our tight-knit bond as the 10th Division. Therefore, every little difference between us shall be dealt with, and Lieutenant Hirako has reflected on his mistake."
"I'm sorry, 3rd Seat Murai, I shouldn't have questioned your capability just now." Hirako Shinji immediately apologized to Murai Kana.
"Can you forgive Lieutenant Hirako? He already apologized and all." Murai Kana nodded his head numbly, and Muyang patted his shoulders, "Now that it's settled, I will go with Lieutenant Hirako to Shin'ō to check if they have any interesting rookie to be enlisted in our Division. 3rd Seat Murai, you will be staying here and work on this pile of paperwork. I believe you can do it!"
Muyang dragged Hirako Shinji and disappeared using Shunpo without giving Murai Kana the time to react, leaving Murai Kana alone with a mountain of paperwork in front of him. He wanted to cry so bad but not even a drop of tears came out.
----------------
This is...Shin'ō Academy!
Hirako Shinji's pupils dilated as he suddenly found himself already in Shin'ō Academy. He began to wonder whether it was merely Shunpo that Muyang used just now because the 10th Division barrack was quite far from Shin'ō Academy.
"Phew, we can finally relax a bit. Let's stick around for a while, Shinji. We have Murai dealing with the paperwork, after all."
"Agreed, I can't stand it anymore, just leave it all to him. He has been slacking off too much lately." Hirako Shinji tried to hide his astonishment. Besides, Muyang was his friend and Captain, so he didn't have to worry about it. He has been exhausted, so he might as well use this chance to let loose.
"Shin'ō... it's been a while since I came." Hirako Shinji said as he gazed at the academy in front of him with a hint of reminiscent in his tone.
"Come to think of it..." Hirako Shinji looked at Muyang as if he just thought of something. "Captain, you graduate so fast because you grade-skipped back in your school days, right? Will there be your acquaintances among the graduates today?"
"Yeah, maybe," Muyang hesitantly said as he couldn't even remember how long it has been since he graduated. After all, he has changed a lot after graduation, and too many things have happened since then that he couldn't remember how long it has been.
"What a hopeless guy." Hirako Shinji sighed as Muyang didn't even remember something like that, "Forget it, let's go! Other Division members who planned to recruit the new graduates may be here already."
Muyang nodded, then went in with Shinji.
"Haha, I didn't expect you'd come, Captain Kimura."
As soon as he entered the square, Muyang heard laughter from the stand above him, where he found Kyōraku Shunsui making his way with Lisa towards him.
"I'm pooped. This is the perfect chance to take a break, haha." Muyang admitted and then looked towards Lisa behind Kyōraku Shunsui, "Yo, Lisa, you're officially a Lieutenant now, finally."
"Can I take it as you ridiculing me?" Lisa said as he glared at Muyang.
"O... Of course not." Muyang quickly waved his hand while trying to joke his way out. Who was crazy enough to laugh at her?
"Hmph!" Lisa was clearly annoyed by what Muyang said.
"Well, since you are here, shall we go together? The students will be here soon." Kyōraku Shunsui then immediately added, "Captain Kimura, you should be able to recruit many excellent graduates now that you come personally. Many students in Shin'ō Academy idolized you, after all. Obviously, most of them wanted to join your Division, and if they saw you came personally all the way here, even more students would be eager to join your Division. Sigh, we may not be able to get any this time."
"You jest, Captain Kyōraku." Muyang glanced around and asked, "Are you the only Captain today? I don't see any other Captain."
"Ukitake wanted to come at first, but because of one thing and another, he was delayed, and I was the only one left. Fortunately, you are here too. Otherwise, I'd be the only Captain here."

"Are you lonely, Captain Kyōraku?" A slightly playful laugh entered Kyōraku Shunsui's ears. Kyōraku Shunsui then turned around and smiled awkwardly at the person behind him.
"Cut me some slack, Lieutenant Shihōin."
It was a dark-skinned girl with long ponytails and golden irises, with a witty and laid-back atmosphere around her. She was the current 2nd Division Lieutenant and the next head of the Shihōin Clan, Shihōin Yoruichi.
"Yo, Yoruichi-san, are you the one coming in 2nd Division's stead this time?"
Muyang chummily greeted Yoruichi as he waved his hand.
"Yeah, but now I regret coming here after seeing you. Even if there are some promising talents, I bet they will flock to you." Yoruichi glanced at Muyang with a disappointed look. "Didn't you say you weren't coming? What's with the sudden change of heart?"
Muyang just awkwardly laughed as he couldn't tell Yoruichi that he came there to slack off.
Yoruichi just rolled her eyes as she more or less figured it out from Muyang's response and looked towards the entrance of the square, "It seems that the students are here. Are you guys gonna give a speech today?"
Muyang and Kyōraku Shunsui looked at each other and said in unison: "There's no way! I'll leave it to him."
Both of them could not help laughing while Hirako Shinji and Lisa's veins bulged as both of their Captain were so laid-back that they were also embarrassed as a Lieutenant.
"Kimura, you are here too! I thought only Captain Kyōraku would be coming today." Aranmaru Shishin said toward Muyang with a smile. He saw Muyang from the square, so he immediately ran toward them.
"Well, it was kind of in the heat of the moment, so I didn't have the time to notify you in advance." Muyang explained, then looked at Aranmaru Shishin puzzledly: "You look particularly happy. Did something happen?"
"Now that you're here, I could not help thinking about the day we graduated. I remember how you stole the spotlight that day!"
"Yeah, several years have passed before we know it."
Kyōraku Shunsui tilted down his bamboo hat when he heard Muyang got all emotional. He admired Muyang's youth as he no longer remembered what happened at his graduation because it was such a long time ago.
Muyang suddenly dragged Aranmaru Shishin away from the rest and whispered, "you are a teacher here, right? Do you know any promising fledglings among this year's graduates?"
Although Muyang made sure to keep his voice down, everyone could hear what he said to Aranmaru Shishin clearly. Kyōraku Shunsui just smiled wryly. As usual, Muyang couldn't cease to surprise them! Hirako Shinji was so embarrassed to the point that he couldn't stand Lisa and Yoruichi's ridiculing stare directed at him.
"Wait, you don't know?" Aranmaru Shishin was surprised. "So let me get this straight, you're coming here as a Captain to recruit new students, yet you didn't even check about any of the student's information?"
"Like I said, it's in the heat of the moment. I left it all to my 3rd Seat, so I haven't checked. Come on, don't be a cheapskate and tell me."
"What a hopeless guy." Aranmaru Shishin shook his head, but then suddenly smirked and said to Muyang: "If you are looking for a promising student, then it's got to be your former classmate that you met when you visit me last time, Suzuki Kusu! She is one of the best among the graduates this year. But then again, I'm sure she will join your Division even though you're not coming here in person."
Seeing the sly smile on Aranmaru Shishin's face, Muyang wanted to punch him in the face so badly. Even though he clearly knew that he and Suzuki Kusu were only classmates, he deliberately said it in such a teasing manner as if they had some sort of special relationship.
"Oh? Don't worry, I didn't hear anything."
Even though Kyōraku Shunsui said, 'I didn't hear anything', the look on his face clearly said 'I heard everything'.
When Muyang saw Lisa's flushed face, clearly excited about the sudden turn of events, Yoruichi's curious smile, and the faint smile on Hirako Shinji's face, Muyang wanted to cry so badly, but no tears came out. He realized that there was no point in explaining himself now that it has got to this point.
Lisa pushed her glasses' frame back up, and her lenses flashed like a typical anime character. Muyang had a bad feeling when he saw this, and that was when he remembered Lisa loved spying on people's privacy. Now that her curiosity was piqued, Muyang knew that he wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully.
Muyang immediately averted his eyes from Aranmaru Shishin's smug face as he might not be able to restrain the urge to beat him up unless he did so.
Muyang was thinking about breaking Aranmaru Shishin's nose if Suzuki Kusu wasn't as skilled as he said when suddenly...
"Umm... Kimura-san... I mean, Captain Kimura."
Muyang came back to his senses, and immediately said with a smile once he noticed a cheerful girl was standing right in front of him: "Ah, Suzuki Kusu, no need to be so formal, just call me Kimura. We used to be classmates, after all."
Muyang was taken aback for a moment. Even though he was deep in thoughts, to think that he didn't notice Suzuki Kusu coming was truly surprising. Even an average Captain couldn't hide their presence like that.
Lisa pushed her glasses' frame back up, wondering whether the girl in front of Muyang was the same girl they talked about just now.
The girl had a Slender figure, fair skin, shoulder-length hair, light brown pupils. No matter how she looked at it, the girl was definitely a beauty but... as she observed Suzuki Kusu blushed when she talked with Muyang, she frowned and the question that crossed her mind first was why did she seem so timid?
Kyōraku Shunsui's complexion changed when he looked at Suzuki Kusu. Something must've crossed his mind.
"Yo, Captain Kyōraku, don't tell me you suddenly have perverted thoughts the moment you saw that cutie?" Yoruichi asked sternly.
"Wh... Of course not, Lieutenant Shihōin. Something bothers me a little, that's all." Kyōraku Shunsui gently rubbed his chin, seemingly to be deep in thought, "We didn't even notice Suzuki-kun's presence until she's right in front of us."
Yoruichi was surprised. Now that she thought about it, Kyōraku Shunsui was right! It completely slipped off her mind as she didn't really care about the girl. Although she was only a Lieutenant now, she was confident that her Shunpo could even rival that of a Captain, and that was why what Kyōraku Shunsui just said blew her mind. If someone who mastered Shunpo like Yoruichi didn't even see her coming, that could only mean ...
"Is it Zanpakuto Ability? That's one hell of an ability."
Yoruichi nodded as he agreed with Kyōraku Shunsui. Even though everyone wasn't really paying attention, it was an undeniable fact that Suzuki Kusu managed to slip under two Captains and three Lieutenants' radar.
"I will take my leave here then, Captain Kimura."
"Well, I look forward to seeing you in the 10th Division in the future."
"Yes!"
Suzuki Kusu smiled, and Muyang nodded in response. Suzuki Kusu then turned around and left after saluting Kyōraku Shunsui and Yoruichi and glancing at Lisa.
"How perceptive." Kyōraku Shunsui said as he saw Suzuki Kusu's last glance at Lisa before looking towards Muyang and said: "Congratulations, Captain Kimura, you have found an excellent addition to your Division."
"Haha, well, yeah~" Muyang couldn't conceal his joy. His former classmate is really something else. Although her Reiatsu was only around the level of a 7th or 8th Seat, her keen perception and peculiar stealth ability more than made up for it. At first, he just wanted to slack off and didn't expect to find such an exceptional rookie.
"But she is too shy, don't you think? Can she even do a Shinigami's job properly?" Hirako Shinji asked Muyang.
"Shy? I don't think so." Lisa said out of the blue.
