CHAPTER SEVEN
I had woken up to take another shot at wooing Shadow, which also meant a house visit. I already knew that his worthless douchebag brother was probably cashing in a daily dose of bullying, which is why I needed to pop ASAP. As I walked down the trail that led to the Thunderclan border, my ears pricked. Pawsteps. Someone was dashing in the other direction - no, two cats.
????
I watched in surprise as two cats dashed away. One had a black pelt and yellow eyes, and the other was a grey lump of muscles. Probably the bullies in question, but what had chased them away? Even though they couldn't see me, I stuck out my tongue at them, Too bad cats didnt have hands, or I would've flashed the middle finger too.
Suddenly, I heard a low growl. Not a cat, it was too high-pitched for that. And coming in the direction Shadow was in. No! My meal ticket to not being dead! I dashed down the trail, as fast as I could, caution and discretion thrown to the wind. Too preoccupied to even jump through logs, in my haste, I ran right through them, paws thudding.
As a clearing flickered into view, I squinted my eyes. Dang trees and their leaves! A fox was about to go for the killing move, about to snap the next of a dark plum cat.
Aka, my meal ticket.
