Chapitre 48: A sweet son

"I am fine." Liam assured his mother for the nth time. He was usually a tough guy who never allowed anything to get to him. The last time he cried in front of her was probably when he was still a little boy. Seeing him cry like this had caused his mother to worry, and he hated himself for that. It was all because of that stupid letter he received. He was guessing it had been from Sophie. He was going to scold her for it later.

"How..." 

"I spoke with dad." He interrupted when he saw how she was struggling to speak. He didn't want to stress her out in any way. 

Even though he was mad at her for keeping her illness away from him, he understood her. She didn't want to make him worried. If he was very sick, he would also not want his mother to see him like that. He took her hand in his gently. 

"I'm sorry." He said softly, looking at her with bloodshot eyes. "I should have been a better son."
