Chapitre 2: The Awakening of Ravana

Rohan felt a cold chill run down his spine as he stepped into the passageway that had just revealed itself. The air was thick with an eerie stillness, and the walls of the passage were lined with ancient, worn carvings. His torch flickered in the stale air, casting long shadows that danced across the intricate engravings. He could barely contain his excitement, his heart racing with the realization that he might be on the verge of uncovering something that had remained hidden for millennia—a discovery that would rewrite history and secure his place among the world's most renowned archaeologists.

The tunnel was narrow, with jagged stone walls that seemed to close in on him the further he ventured. Despite the uneasiness growing in his gut, Rohan pressed on. His determination to uncover the truth about Ravana, the legendary demon king, outweighed any fear that threatened to slow him down. He kept reminding himself of the prophecy he had come across, which spoke of Ravana's return in Kaliyug, a time when mankind would lose its way, and chaos would reign supreme.

The deeper he went, the more elaborate the carvings became. At first, they were simple depictions of Ravana's life—his childhood, his rise to power, his conquests, and his eventual downfall at the hands of Lord Rama. But as he moved further into the heart of the mountain, the carvings began to tell a different story—one that was never mentioned in the Ramayana or any of the ancient texts Rohan had studied.

He paused to examine a large, mural-like carving that spanned the length of the corridor. It depicted a group of shadowy figures, dressed in robes, gathered around Ravana's body after his death. Rohan's eyes widened as he realized what he was seeing—these figures were not mourning the demon king; they were performing some kind of ritual.

The scene showed Ravana's body being dismembered, his ten heads and twenty arms carefully preserved and stored in golden urns. Surrounding the urns were symbols and inscriptions in an ancient script that Rohan had never encountered before. He quickly jotted down notes and took photos with his camera, hoping to decipher the strange language later. It was clear that these people were attempting to do something far more profound than simply honor Ravana's memory—they were preparing him for rebirth.

As he continued down the passage, the story on the walls became more and more elaborate. The shadowy figures had taken Ravana's remains to a hidden temple deep within the mountains. There, they constructed an elaborate mechanism—a device that seemed to combine both magic and technology—designed to reassemble Ravana's body and return his soul to the physical realm. Rohan's breath caught in his throat as he realized what the carvings were describing. They hadn't just preserved Ravana's body; they had built a way to bring him back.

His mind raced as he tried to process what this meant. Could it be possible that Ravana, the most feared demon king in history, was not truly dead? That somewhere deep within this mountain lay the key to his resurrection?

The passage opened into a vast underground chamber, and Rohan's breath was taken away by what he saw. The chamber was enormous, its ceiling disappearing into darkness. In the center of the room was an altar made of black stone, and atop it sat a massive, ornate sarcophagus. The sarcophagus was covered in gold and jewels, but what caught Rohan's attention was the symbol engraved on its lid—the same 🕉️ symbol he had pressed to open the passage.

The air in the chamber was thick with an unsettling energy, and Rohan felt an almost magnetic pull toward the sarcophagus. He approached it cautiously, his heart pounding in his chest. As he drew nearer, he noticed more carvings on the walls surrounding the altar. They depicted the same shadowy figures from the earlier carvings, but now they were shown completing their ritual. At the center of the scene was a glowing artifact—a crystal-like object that seemed to be the source of power for the entire process.

The inscription beneath the scene read:

"The Soul Stone of Ravana. The source of his strength. The key to his resurrection."

Rohan's eyes widened. This was it. The artifact he had been searching for—the key to Ravana's return.

He circled the sarcophagus, searching for any signs of traps or mechanisms that might prevent him from opening it. He knew from years of experience that such sites were often protected by ancient safeguards, and the people who had constructed this tomb clearly did not want it to be disturbed.

After a careful inspection, he found a series of small indents around the base of the sarcophagus. Each indent was shaped like a different symbol from the ancient script he had seen earlier in the passageway. Pulling out his notes, Rohan cross-referenced the symbols with the carvings on the walls. His hands trembled as he aligned the symbols and pressed down on them in the correct sequence.

With a low rumble, the lid of the sarcophagus began to slide open, revealing a dim glow from within. Rohan stepped back, his heart racing. As the lid shifted, a cold, dry wind blew through the chamber, extinguishing his torch. He fumbled for his flashlight, clicking it on just in time to see the sarcophagus fully open.

Inside, resting on a bed of black silk, was the Soul Stone. It was a deep crimson, pulsating softly as though it were alive. Around it were fragments of Ravana's preserved remains—his ten crowns, his weapons, and an intricately carved throne that seemed to have been placed there as a final resting place.

Rohan reached out, his fingers brushing the surface of the stone. A sharp jolt of energy shot through him, and he yanked his hand back in shock. The stone was warm, vibrating with a power he couldn't fully comprehend.

Suddenly, the carvings on the walls began to glow with an eerie light. The ancient script seemed to come alive, and the chamber resonated with a low, humming sound. Rohan stumbled back, his mind racing. Had he triggered something? Was this part of the resurrection ritual?

The ground beneath him trembled, and from the darkness of the chamber, Rohan heard a calm, soothing voice—a voice that seemed to echo with wisdom and quiet authority.

"You have found me, seeker."

Rohan's heart skipped a beat, but this voice was not harsh or angry. It was measured, deliberate, and oddly reassuring.

"The prophecy was written long ago, in a time when the world was still young. And you, mortal, have played your part well."

The voice carried with it a strange serenity, but behind it was an undeniable weight of power. Rohan felt drawn in, captivated by its calm yet commanding presence. The Soul Stone pulsed once again, and the glow in the chamber brightened.

"You wonder who I am, and what I seek, do you not?" the voice continued, now filled with a subtle hint of amusement.

"I am Ravana, King of Lanka. Feared by some, revered by others. And yet, my purpose was never simply destruction."

Rohan's pulse quickened as the calm, majestic voice filled the chamber. This was not the demon king he had read about—this was something far more complex, far more calculated.

"Chaos and order," Ravana said thoughtfully. "Two sides of the same coin. Without chaos, there can be no growth, no evolution. And without order, there can be no stability, no life. I, who have ruled both heaven and hell, understand this balance."

Rohan stood frozen, absorbing the gravity of Ravana's words.

"I do not seek to return for vengeance, as the old stories say," Ravana explained, his tone soft yet firm. "I return to explore a world that has changed beyond recognition. The Kaliyug, as you call it, is a time of turmoil, but also of great opportunity. Order has decayed, chaos reigns unchecked. But both forces are necessary, and I shall be the one to restore this balance."

Rohan swallowed hard, his mind reeling. This was not the malevolent demon king bent on revenge that he had anticipated. Ravana was talking about balance—about a world where chaos and order coexisted. But underneath his calm words, there was still an unmistakable thirst for conquest.

"I will conquer, yes," Ravana continued, almost reading Rohan's thoughts. "But my conquest is not one of mere destruction. I will reshape this world, and bring about a new order that embraces chaos and harmony. Those who follow me shall thrive, those who oppose me shall fall. Such is the way of all things."

Rohan's knees trembled as the weight of Ravana's ambition became clear. This was not a king bent on simple domination—Ravana sought something much deeper, a reshaping of the world itself.

"You, mortal," Ravana's voice softened, "have brought me to the cusp of awakening. You shall be my witness to the world that awaits."

The air around Rohan grew thick with power as the Soul Stone pulsed ever brighter. The chamber began to hum with energy, and Rohan realized that Ravana's return was imminent. His calm, commanding voice still echoed in Rohan's mind, promising both chaos and order in equal measure.

"Prepare yourself, mortal," Ravana said in a final, gentle tone. "For the world is about to change."

The chamber erupted in light, and Rohan's mind was flooded with visions—visions of cities rising and falling, of empires born in the wake of destruction, of a future where chaos and order danced hand in hand under Ravana's reign.

And as the visions faded, one thought lingered in Rohan's mind:

"What have I unleashed?"
