The first thing that smacked me in the face, literally, as I lifted my head towards Lazaros, was his outfit. He looked like a right soldier… or a warrior, I guess? And was that a sword strapped to his armour?

Then came the flickering. Like a dodgy old TV trying to find its signal. But soon enough, he was solid, clear as day.

Different. Completely different. Even from my sprawled-out position, I could tell this was him, the real him. Hair like the palest bluebell, matching his eyes that shimmered like the ocean.

He strutted towards me, amusement bubbling in his eyes like a mischievous kid. "You lost, kid?" he chuckled, stopping just out of reach, which did wonders for my already darkening mood.
