On the dance floor, the music hadn't stopped, so Emma Tonkin was still dancing.

Ava White held onto Jonas Thompson's arm, but noticed that his gaze was fixed on Emma. Displeased, she suddenly spoke up to distract Jonas, "Why hasn't Mr. Charlie arrived yet?"

Jonas indeed shifted his glance and replied absentmindedly, "Didn't Mr. Charlie say he wouldn't come? I heard he has an important business dinner tonight."

That was, of course, an excuse made up by Eve Thompson, but Jonas was still very dissatisfied.

He had originally thought that with Eve marrying Mr. Charlie, their family business would benefit somehow, but so far, they had received no advantages!

Even that last contract... Eve had found an excuse to cancel it!
