The atmosphere in the Cowell's house was electric with excitement but in my room, I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. As I stood in the mirror, smoothing out imaginary wrinkles in the dress I wore, I felt the nerves coursing through me like a rush of electricity and I couldn't help but glance at the clock. The big event was just minutes away—my mum's wedding to Mr. Cowell. Did I just say Mr. Cowell? I meant, Dad. I still needed to get used to calling him that after all mum is about to be wedded to him. I replayed the moment in my mind, the image of Mum in her stunning dress, saying the sacred marriage vows felt surreal. My heart raced at the thought of walking her down the aisle, and the nerves twisted in my stomach like a pretzel.
Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and tried to steady my racing heart. Was Mum feeling this nervous too? I wondered. Just then, a knock at my door broke my concentration.
"Come in!" I called out, my voice slightly shaky.
