The following days were much calmer than expected. Many took on the task of fishing, and with relative ease, they hauled in tons of seafood to feed the brown bears, who ate much more than two dragons.
At the moment, food wasn't an issue, but if they wanted to establish themselves, they needed to consider how to work the land more effectively, something Haldor was addressing in his spare time.
The plans Haldor was developing were for building a city from scratch, one that would be clean and self-sufficient. He had observed the cities along the way here, and all of them were of very low quality. Their hygiene was so poor that it could be smelled from a distance, making it terrible to even approach those places.
If given the opportunity to develop a city from scratch, he was sure it would be the cleanest and best-developed in all seven kingdoms.
"Is your guard ready?" Harald approached Haldor, who was gazing at the frozen sea.
Haldor nodded and said, "They are ready to depart, but I still have a doubt. Is it really wise to meet a potential enemy in this way?"
"The armored bears will stay to guard the camps here, and we will be accompanied by two dragons and a brigade of armored bears with sorcerers. We'll be fine even if they try to kill us."
"That's not the problem..." Haldor wasn't referring to that; he wanted to know if it was trustworthy to share the information they had with the King of these realms.
Harald's expression became serious as he pondered something, but now that his son had proposed the plans, there was no reason to refuse to take the path of peace. "At the meeting, we'll show them the white walker you brought from the north. They will decide whether there will be war or if we will unite to eliminate a common threat."
He thought this was the best decision. Any old dog who has been in war knows the sacrifices made in one. Here, you don't have to fight for your daily food; you don't die of hunger or cold. Everything is fantastic if you have the skills to fend for yourself.
However, for the outbreak, things are very different. Most people here don't like the climate. They would prefer to live in less hostile terrain near the northern borders, preferably with a connection to the sea so they can fish.
"No fighting, Azazel. You might want to ride a dragoness, but you'll have to wait a bit longer to use your magic wand." Ravyn was giving Haldor's dragon advice on how to court a dragoness, something no one had ever seen him do.
Lucian, who was next to Haldor, asked, "Shouldn't your dragon be more aggressive with strangers?"
"He should be, but Ravyn fed him leftovers when he was very young, so in a way, he considers him a friend." Haldor paid no attention to Ravyn's words as he asked polar bears for advice on having wilder sex.
Without a doubt, living a much freer life is the right way to live in this world, especially when someone is heading to a war from which they probably won't return alive.
Life was hard; no one could deny that.
"Do you think they'll be scared when they see the white walker?" Haldor changed the subject and looked at Lucian, who was beside him.
"I think they will listen to your words and establish an alliance that will last as long as it needs to. But there will always be resentment and distrust toward us. They'll ironically think we're resentful after a thousand years, which we have never considered."
Lucian paused and continued, "There are always dragons who disobey their king's orders and make separate decisions in the dark. If you manage to get engaged to that king's princess, you'll need to be very careful. You must leave the capital as soon as possible and establish yourself in a castle far from political threats."
"No need to remind me." Haldor had never trusted anyone here. Very few people had earned his trust. It would be foolish of him to rely on a marriage made to establish new alliances.
"That's not the point, but I think you understand..."
"Yes, I suppose I do. I'll do my best to save humanity."
In less than two hours, they arrived at the location where a camp was set up. There, a small army of four adult dragons was watching in their direction.
"You all know, attack without mercy if they betray us." Luker, who was in the group, didn't forget to send signals.
As they approached, two of the large dragons nearby lifted their heads threateningly, sensing two hostile forces approaching.
Haldor personally calmed his dragon, who lowered his head with absolute tranquility. "I hope, for everyone's sake, that this goes well."
"The guests of His Majesty the King have arrived."
Everyone was led to the center of the camp, where Viserys and the other members of his family were seated.
Haldor could see all of them, their gazes fixed on him. "Well, it seems they have accepted the meeting."
Harald entered with his respective advisors, looked at King Viserys, and nodded in greeting. "From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for accepting the invitation."
"I believe you left me with few options when you sent the letter," Viserys said without showing weakness.
"The urgency is great, much more than you can imagine, and we bring proof." At that moment, two armored bears, holding a wooden box, approached and placed it in the middle of the meeting field.
