Chapitre 8: Chapter 8: The church.

 I wandered around Jacob's home trying to find something I could cut these ropes off of my hands with. There are no knives or even scissors in the kitchen. Nothing sharp at all, really. I was just about to knock a glass off of the counter when Jacob walked back in. 

Putting two and two together, he said, "Any knives we had we gathered up for weapons. Handed them out to anyone who couldn't use a gun." 

Ignoring his explanation, I walked over to where he stood. "Untie me, please." 

Jacob chuckled and sat down in his recliner. He pulled the lever and released the footrest. And then he put his hands behind his head and reclined. 

"Why should I? Wouldn't that make it easier for you to try and escape like you're planning?" 

I feigned ignorance. "I'm not trying to escape. My wrists hurt." 

Jacob pouted his lip, "I can't untie you. Not until the Mayor sees you." 

"The Mayor?" 

"Mayor George. He's in charge here."
