Chapitre 11: Reward received, if this is good or not is still undecided
"Young Master Tiandi, as promised here is the prize of the competition." An elderly man called Sen Xe said as he approached me with his long white beard and hands behind his back while beside him a girl cane along. She was absolutely beautiful, radiant even. She has pristine white skin that looks as unblemished and perfect as jade, long black hair that is so dark that it is almost like a piece of the New Moon sky with no stars, her eyes are a pale yellow while looking a bit like if she was a cat giving her a slightly dangerous vibe and her ears are really like elves in fantasy, long and pointy. But in her, those ears fit mysteriously giving her an ethereal tone as if she does not belong to this world. "Young Master, before I give her to you you must understand a certain method that allows one to put a slave mark on someone else's soul. That is the only way for us to allow her to be taken by you."
"Wait, why do I need to put a slave mark in her? Isn't a slave mark something that is considered one of the worst fates possible for someone?" I asked. The way to put a slave mark on someone wasn't exactly that hard and different techniques for it existed but it was widely frowned upon to use such methods on others as it takes away another's liberty in all ways. Usually, only bitter enemies would use such a thing to punish another and it only works if the opponent has a much weaker soul, for me probably only mortals without any cultivation would be possible. Well, perhaps not quite so low as my cultivation is more like the one from an Earth Profound Realm practitioner except for the profound energy but that is beside the point.
I wouldn't use such a technique on someone else.
"Do not worry, while using the slave mark techniques are certainly frowned upon when against someone civilized like a human those of lesser races are decidedly not so. To those of a filthy race like Elves using such a thing is only proper, but I suppose your misunderstanding is proper. You have, after all, been diligently studying the sword for as long as you can walk and hold a blade, I wouldn't be surprised if your knowledge over some other matters may not be up to pair." Sen Xi said and I felt like beating an old bastard, hard. Not letting my face show my displeasure I continue to listen. "You see, her race is of uncivilized barbarians, when we were in our latest crusade in the Illusory Demon Realm we managed to find this little girl's sect. They were amongst the most disturbing beings we ever met, they would train and practice with poison but they would use living humans as practice dummies and tone of the elders from the Absolute Monarch Sanctuary was captured by then and when we managed to rescue him he was so damaged that even remembering him makes one's skin crawl. They have no mercy and would use the bones of others to create aberrations for combat and they cannot be thought of as a righteous race at all.
"Think of this little beast as a little beast that needs a leash or need to be put down." Sen Xi said with a gentle face but I can only see a devil speaking. Really, this whole sect is corrupted to the core.
I can, however, see that the girl isn't afraid at all, not really. If I were to guess she has some way to not be really dominated by the Slave mark, and if not I don't really want her as a slave so I can just try out my luck with this little gamble.
"Now, listen carefully to my instructions over this technique, it is quite precious so you must listen carefully." Sen Xi said as he began speaking, I summarily ignored him. Instead, I focus on the NP from Amakusa, the ability to use any profound art as long as I either know of it or can define the result I desire. It is kind of like looking at Google now that I think about it, a search cheat that lets me use and have a basic understanding of any and all profound techniques letting me use them. I have to wonder if, in case I mix it with some other inheritance, I would be able to get the incantations of the techniques and some understanding of it. Perhaps Scathatch is an option as her skill Wisdom of Dún Scáith allows for the user to have great knowledge and understanding over any skill he comes in contact or can practice with, it would be worth a try I suppose.
Anyway, focusing on what I can do right now I search for an enslavement technique that can look like it is the normal one but would not make the other loyal to the point of losing oneself and instead just not betray me with a stab on the back.
... Found it, funnily enough, it seems to have had been created by a cheating husband who was stronger than his wife but with the wife much too talented so she would definitely suppress him. From what I get she seems to have been the extra violent type and the husband, with the desire to ensure he would not have his family's bloodline cut in his generation, created this profound art that would leave the woman that he loves as she is but with less of a stabby risk.
With this technique in mind, I use it towards Semiramis and she does not resist, it enters her mind easily enough and after that Sen Xi was satisfied.
"Good work, young master. Well done indeed. Now, I have to be off but I have a message from your father. He said he will be going to the Blue Wind Empire for the next few months and that you must prepare because in five months you will be going there as well. We, as elders, have been talking and decided that you all as youths and seedlings for the Sect need to prepare for handling the sect. As such you and a few others will be put with one of the elder disciples in charge of creating an organization, it can be a small sect, a city-state, or even a mercenary group, the only protection you all will have is your own power. We do that to let you all see the world since the very bottom and let you and other seedlings experience everything the world has to offer.
"You will stay there and only return to the sect if you all have proven yourselves, the time you all will stay doing so is five years as, in five years, the Power Origin Realm will be opening and those of you that have shown enough growth will be able to enter. Consider this a test if you must. The team you will be going with will be decided in the next few days, don't worry over that. Now, have a good day." After he said that Sen Xi left and I could only stare. This was definitely not quite what I expected, but it is not that bad a result, only by going out will I be able to search for whatever inheritances may be left in this land.
This is a planet where the Evil God buried inheritances of his friends, how could it only have such pitifully small number of inheritances? How much of a loner that guy was? Perhaps I should get Sherlock Holmes if only for the ability to search for clues and find out things that I would not be able to otherwise, it probably wouldn't go too much against my Sword way as he doesn't really use weapons so my soul wouldn't have this conflict.
Well, I will go and get the Azure Dragon Inheritance anyway, it is far too valuable to not get it as it is not elemental in nature and only strengthens my body. Maybe I can even reveal it to others if they can be useful and seem like they could survive the test.
Anyway, I turn to Semiramis who has been quiet for a while now.
"So, do you mind if we go to the cafeteria? A lunch would fit in quite well right now after so much fighting, what do you say?"
"That sounds acceptable, but I must say that this slave mark you use was quite ingenious, it is not the normal type so I am having some difficulty dismantling it completely. Where did you find such a thing?" She said sweetly.
I shrugged.
"I have my secrets. And you, where did you find a way to destroy slave marks? I thought they are impossible to break normally." I asked.
"Oh, how rude of a boy to be asking a lady's secrets like that. At least buy me dinner first." She said teasingly.
"Isn't that what I just said?" I rolled my eyes as we moved along, I think the two of us will probably get along just well.
"True enough, also would you like to try a tea I brew myself later? I believe it has quite a unique taste to it and will likely let you feel light as a fether afterward." She says smiling pleasantly.
"Wouldn't it just be filled with enough drugs to leave me addicted to it and needing to follow you as your servant instead of the other way around?" I ask bemusedly, she just shrugs as if to say 'maybe, maybe not'. "Well, perhaps you would like to watch me practice later instead? I rarely ever get an audience watching so I might try and put up a show out of it." I say.
"From what I got out of you until now I wouldn't put it past you to 'accidentally miss' an attack and it hitting me, potentially killing me or at least crippling me. I don't need to be strong to work as a poison detector and my primordial Ying should work the same effect even if I were to be crippled." She says and I shrug, I won't deny that this was one of the possibilities I thought of. She is dangerous, after all, and her servitude is questionable at best, but I probably wouldn't injure her for real, perhaps just a scare to show dominance.
But seeing my reaction to her words she was even more amused as we continued this little game, proposing places or activities to go followed by the other to dismantle this by mentioning how they would be assassinated or crippled by the other.
It was honestly quite fun and despite how odd it really is we enjoyed ourselves in the end.
