Chapitre 27: Chapter : 27 Grigori

Next Day

Ring..Ring....

"It's morning already? Wasn't it night just a few moments ago," Dylan muttered as he tapped the alarm to turn it off and opened his eyes, lying in bed, staring at the ceiling for a moment to restart his brain.

As he got up, freshened himself, and descended the stairs, he spotted Vali, the silver-haired kid, sitting on the sofa watching TV while Emma cooked in the kitchen. Azazel was nowhere to be seen.

Approaching the sofa, an awkward tension hung in the air like a heavy cloud. Dylan hesitated, unsure of how to break the silence.

Dylan thought, Why am I being shy? He's just a boy.

"Good morning," he said, attempting to dispel the awkwardness.

Vali glanced at him and replied, "Good morning," in monotone, as silence once again enveloped them. Since they had nothing to talk to more

They both focused on the TV, where a cartoon show, Drag your balls, was playing.

While Vali and Dylan were intensely engrossed in the TV, a fight scene unfolded before them. Both of them breathed heavily, their chests rising and falling as if they were in the midst of the battle themselves.

The sound of the door interrupted the intense atmosphere as Azazel entered the house. "Hey, guys, what are you both watching?" Azazel called out cheerfully.

No response came from Vali and Dylan as Azazel silently walked in and settled at the dining table, his gaze got on the show displayed on the screen and got curious.

The scene shifted, and now all three—Dylan, Vali, and Azazel sitted in sofa—were fully immersed in the fight between Gaki and Fridge on the TV screen. As the combatants clashed on screen, their movements mirrored by the trio's reactions, the room resonated with the echoes of their silent anticipation. Each blow exchanged between the adversaries sparked a ripple of excitement among them.

"Breakfast is ready," Emma announced, carefully setting dishes on the dining table, but her words seemed to vanish into thin air as everyone remained fixated on the TV show, oblivious to her presence.

As Emma maneuvered in front of them, blocking their view of the screen, murmurs of protest emerged from Azazel and Dylan, while Vali simply tilted his head to get a glimpse of the TV.

"First, eat your breakfast, then watch what you want," Emma commanded, her tone firm and unwavering.

"I'll eat here while watching," Dylan declared, his eyes still glued to the screen, his body tilted in an attempt to maintain visual contact.

Observing their reluctance to budge, Emma turned to Vali, her voice carrying a hint of expectation, "Will you also eat here?"

Vali offered a slight nod, signaling his agreement to remain where he was.

"And me too," Azazel chimed in, seeking similar leniency.

"No, you're not a child. Just sit at the dining table and have your breakfast," Emma insisted, her patience wearing thin as she placed the plates in front of Dylan and Vali on the small table.

"Come on, Emma, there's a kid inside me that wants to sit, eat, and watch here," Azazel pleaded, revealing his inner child's desires.

But what he heard was Emma's "No.."

As Azazel sat at the dining table, reluctantly eating his breakfast and grumbling under his breath, he couldn't help but sneak occasional glances towards the TV, though the angle from the dining table offered no clear view of the screen.

Once breakfast was over and the show had ended, Azazel suddenly called out to Dylan and Vali, who turned their attention towards him. "Well, you both get ready since we will leave for Grigori in a few minutes," Azazel announced, outlining the day's plan.

Vali remained impassive, his expression unreadable, while Dylan seemed visibly excited, eager for his first visit to what Azazel referred to as their base.

As minutes ticked by, Vali retrieved a bag containing his secrets, his demeanor composed and collected, while Dylan stood empty-handed, his anticipation palpable.

While standing side by side, Dylan noticed that Vali was actually taller than him; his head reached around Vali's chest."

Azazel positioned himself between them as a golden magic circle formed, shaped like angelic wings intricate in them, ready for teleportation. With a flash of light, they vanished, leaving behind Emma, unable to join them due to her flourishing cake business.

GRIGORI BASE

Inside the Grigori base, a golden magic circle illuminated the surroundings as Azazel, Dylan, and Vali emerged. The atmosphere resembled that of a high-security facility, with Dylan's attention drawn to the imposing glass rooms and the flurry of activity among the people bustling around.

Approaching them was a familiar figure, Baraqiel, who made it a point to attend every one of Dylan's birthdays with his wife.

"Dylan, it's been a while since we met. How have you been?" Baraqiel inquired, his tone cheerful, yet his expression remained stern, giving off an air of roughness.

"I'm fine, Uncle Baraqiel," Dylan replied, sensing the contrast between the tone and the demeanor.

"S-since you're here for the first time, how about I give you a tour?" Baraqiel suggested, his attempt at a firm voice still tinged with roughness.

As Baraqiel is learning from his wife how to talk to children, as his strong presence scares away other children when he takes his small daughter Akeno to the park. Consequently, no one comes close to play with her. Therefore, he's attempting to speak in a gentle tone with Dylan and improve himself.

"You guys go on ahead, I will take Vali with me," Azazel directed, signaling for Vali to follow him.

Meanwhile, Baraqiel gently patted Dylan's back, encouraging him to follow along as they explored the surroundings together.

Dylan observed the bustling activity, with people working diligently, handling files and engaging in occasional disputes. Despite the vastness of the space, it seemed surprisingly empty.

"Only this many people live here?" Dylan inquired, his expectations of encountering a legion of fallen angels somewhat dashed.

"Well, many are on various missions spread across the human world, the Underworld, Asgard, and besides, this place is still under construction, so some have been relocated," Baraqiel explained, shedding light on the situation.

"I see," Dylan nodded, absorbing the information as their tour continued for about 30 minutes until they reached a halt. Through a large glass window, Dylan spotted Vali engaged in a sparring match with Azazel, his bluish wings shimmering as he floated in the air.

INSIDE

"Vali, don't push yourself too hard. You won't grow strong in a single day. Take some rest; we can continue later," Azazel advised, expressing genuine concern for Vali, who was pushing himself too hard to grow stronger quickly.

As Vali took a moment to rest and replenish himself with water, Azazel noticed Baraqiel and Dylan outside the room. Stepping through the sliding glass door, he addressed Dylan, eagerly anticipating praise for his base.

"Dylan, did you like my base?" Azazel inquired, expecting to hear words of admiration and a request to visit again.

However, Dylan's response was less enthusiastic. "It's fine," he replied, his thoughts still captivated by the image of Vali's bluish wings.

Curiosity piqued, Dylan couldn't resist asking, "What were those blue wings on Vali?"

"Oh, that's a sacred gear known as Divine Dividing. I'm also studying his sacred gear to create one that I can give you," Azazel explained, revealing his ambition to develop a similar sacred gear akin to a Longinus. Despite facing complications in perfecting it, Azazel's encounter with Vali had reignited his hopes of overcoming these challenges and completing his work.

"Sir Azazel," a voice called out as a man approached them, his demeanor tinged with worry.

"What happened? Is there some problem?" Azazel inquired, sensing the urgency in the man's voice.

"Sir Azazel, can we talk for a moment?" the man requested, his worry palpable.

Azazel glanced at Dylan. "Dylan, wait inside with Vali. I'll come in a few minutes," he instructed before turning to accompany the man. Baraqiel followed suit, joining them as they walked away.

Dylan, now left alone with Vali who was sitting on the floor, resting, answered Vali's inquiry about Azazel's whereabouts. "He had some work," Dylan explained simply.

Vali, already rested and eager for action, expressed his readiness for a sparring session. "I was ready for a spar," he muttered, his desire to engage in combat evident.

Dylan, sensing Vali's eagerness, suggested an alternative. "Do you want to fight with me?" he proposed, offering himself as a sparring partner.

Vali eyed Dylan skeptically, unsure if the younger boy could hold his own in a fight. "How old are you?" Vali inquired, seeking to assess Dylan's capabilities.

"I am 6," Dylan replied, slightly taken aback by the sudden question about his age.

"I am 8, call me big brother," Vali stated with a small smile, his demeanor softening as he extended a gesture of brothership towards Dylan. However, Dylan eyes twitched and couldn't help but notice the subtle shift in Vali's attitude.

Sensing the tension, Dylan proposed a solution. "How about we settle this with a fight? Whoever wins is the big brother," he suggested, a spark of anticipation igniting between them as they both smiled, preparing for the friendly competition ahead.

"Fine then, let's do it," Vali declared, standing and stretching, intending to take it easy on Dylan, thinking he couldn't fight.

Dylan summoned his sword, ready to face Vali, who noticed the weapon with surprise. "So, you can use a sword," Vali remarked, summoning a magical circle and drawing his own sword.

"Are you ready, Dylan?" Vali asked, sprinting towards him. In a seemingly nonchalant manner, Vali attacked Dylan's shoulders, expecting an easy victory. However, Dylan blocked the strike, surprising Vali. He continued to defend skillfully against attacks aimed at his legs, waist, and head.

"What are you doing?" Dylan questioned, sensing Vali's lack of genuine interest in the fight, as his sword swings were becoming predictable.

"I guess I underestimated you," Vali admitted, realizing that Dylan's small stature didn't equate to a lack of skill.

"Well, don't blame me if you get hurt a little bit," Vali warned, increasing the speed of his attacks. The clash of swords filled the air, with Dylan effortlessly parrying Vali's strikes from all directions.

"Now I will attack, so be ready," Dylan declared, pushing his sword towards Vali. Surprised by the force behind Dylan's assault, Vali found himself struggling to block the attacks. He acknowledged his earlier mistake of underestimating Dylan's true capabilities. Despite not utilizing Demonic power or sacred gear, Dylan's physical strength alone was enough to push Vali back. He was genuinely surprised by Dylan's strength.
