Chapitre 25: Chapter : 25 Finally some Rest

Dylan found himself surrounded by darkness as he heard voices arguing, one of which he recognized as Emma's. Her tone conveyed Concern.

"What happened to my child?"

"We don't know, ma'am. He collapsed in the washroom. The doctor said it was due to exhaustion."

"Exhaustion? What are you making him do in school that's so exhausting?"

"We don't make children do anything that would cause such exhaustion, ma'am."

"Emma, calm down. He's fine; he's just asleep. He'll wake up soon," a man's voice reassured, trying to prevent the situation from escalating.

"Oh, goodness, who is fighting now?" Darian exclaimed as he opened his eyes slowly, seeing the white ceiling and absorbing the surroundings of the infirmary room.

"You're okay," Emma reassured as she rushed to hug him with motherly love and warmth, even though Dylan showed resistance as if he didn't like it, but deep down, he was feeling really good as someone was caring for him.

"Why are you smiling?" Azazel questioned, seeing Dylan's little smile.

Dylan shot him a glare as if he would kill him if he kept looking.

"Okay, okay," Azazel relented as he understood Dylan's glare and looked in a different direction.

"What happened to you? How did you collapse in the bathroom?" Emma said, her concern evident in her eyes, as if she could cry at any moment.

"I'm fine. I was just practicing running, got exhausted, and fell asleep while sitting in the washroom. I'm a heavy sleeper, so people must have thought I was unconscious, but I was simply sleeping," Dylan improvised, conjuring a story out of thin air.

"Dylan, promise me you won't do something like this again," Emma said, her eyes moist with emotion as she looked at him with a motherly gaze. Dylan felt uncomfortable under her intense scrutiny.

"Okay, okay, now that your chit-chat is over, Emma, I think you should go and apologize to the teachers. You really gave them a long lecture," Azazel interjected. Emma had rushed to the school upon hearing about Dylan collapsing and had lectured the teachers extensively on their care of the children.

As the teachers in the infirmary left after Dylan woke up, not out of anger but to give them some privacy, Emma finally admitted, "I think I went overboard with my words. But—" She was interrupted by Azazel.

"Don't worry about him; I'm here. Just go and talk to them," Azazel reassured Emma as she left, and he took a seat beside Dylan.

"Tell me the real reason why you collapsed," Azazel questioned, as he doubted Dylan's explanation to Emma.

"The real reason? I already told you, I was just sleeping, and the teachers might have thought I was unconscious and brought me here," Dylan replied, maintaining his facade of truthfulness.

"Sometimes, I feel like I'm not talking to a child but a grown adult or Maybe that's how children talk nowadays, since that silver-haired kid was also speaking in that kind of tone," Azazel muttered to himself, drifting into his own thoughts.

"What are you murmuring about on your own?" Dylan interjected, snapping Azazel back to the present moment.

Ring ring.

Azazel's cell phone chimed, pulling his attention away from the room. He strode to the side and picked up the call.

"What is it?" Azazel inquired.

"The kid agreed," the voice on the other end replied.

"I see," Azazel said, a smirk dancing on his lips as he ended the call.

"Hey, Dylan!" Azazel called out, his voice booming across the room. Dylan glanced over, a puzzled expression as now what does he want. "Do you want a Big Brother?" Azazel asked, his tone filled with a mix of mischief and genuine interest.

"Huh?" Dylan's reaction was a blend of surprise and confusion, unsure of what Azazel meant by the offer.

The confusion that Dylan got from Azazel about Brother was soon revealed as Dylan got back home. It was dinner time, but Dylan and Emma were standing before the door, waiting for Azazel to come back, as he told them he had a surprise.

The door of the house opened slowly, as if in a suspenseful scene, revealing a kid with silver hair and eyes slightly taller than Dylan. "Hello, thank you for having me. I am Vali," he introduced himself with a slight bow, looking nervous in the presence of unknown people.

"Vali, that's a good name. Now, don't wait outside; come inside."

Emma said sweetly to let Vali feel more Comfortable as she welcomed him inside.

The dinner at Dylan's house went as usual. The only weird thing was Vali; He hesitated way too much, declining food despite his obvious desire to eat. His conflicted expression hinted at inner turmoil as he eventually excused himself and went to the room Azazel had arranged for him.

"Dylan, take care of him as a friend," Azazel said out of nowhere, asking for a favor. Dylan looked at him and saw a genuine request.

"I can make him my friend if he wants to, but I can't force somebody," Dylan replied, as Azazel's words hinted that there was something more to Vali, though he didn't disclose it. It was the first time Azazel asked him for something other than his usual perverted requests.

...

....

Vali room

Vali sat in the glow of the moon coming through the window, his gaze fixated on the moon itself.

"I shouldn't stay here and burden them," Vali muttered, his face showing sadness and loneliness. He didn't want to remain in the house, feeling like he was taking their kindness for granted and unable to give anything in return.

Knock knock.

The door opened slightly as Emma slid it open. "I know you want to be alone for a while and gather your thoughts, but you'll need energy for that. So, here is some food," Emma said as she placed the meal in front of the door. "Don't feel like you're burdening us with your presence. Nobody in this house feels that way," she added before closing the door and leaving.

Vali looked at the food, his stomach growling.
