Chapitre 4: Chapter 3.

[Quest Alert]

"Mm?"

A holographic-like blue screen appeared in front of me.

'Is this what he meant by quests?'

I poked the screen, and the text changed. It read:

[You have figured out the world you were sent to. In this world there are 2 factions at war with each other.

Which side would you join? The demons? The demon slayers?

The choice is yours.

Reward: ???]

"Oh? Would you look at that. There's even a reward." I whistled. "Seems like I got a good manager."

This quest came just at the right time. I had just figured out my main concern since I've arrived here, allowing me to be more relaxed.

As relaxed as one can be knowing there are man-eater creatures lurking in the world. But still relaxed.

I was too concentrated on figuring out that mystery, so now I lacked any sort of direction. But this quest gives me a sort of compass of what to do.

"Thought, I'd bet you knew how I would react to this, right?" I smiled at the sky, looking far beyond the night sky, beyond the countless stars. "I won't follow someone else's directions in life. I, now Lucius, do what I want."

The moment I finished speaking, the screen disappeared, with a new one taking it's place. The text read:

[I look forward to your choices, Lucius. I'll be watching you.]

Then, the screen disappeared for good this time.

"Likewise, I look forward to what I'll do."

It was then that I remembered that there was someone else with me.

I looked at the demon, to see what he would think about me seemingly speaking with myself, only to find him with the same blank expression I remembered.

"Right, the chains." I rubbed my chin. "What should I do with you? Mm."

From what I could tell he was a cannon fodder demon, one that wouldn't be of much help to me. If I needed to defend myself, then I was more than capable of that, as I showed him.

He couldn't even be a great decoy. If I met someone strong enough that I would see running away as the best choice, then he wouldn't even buy me enough time to be effective. And, who says I would meet someone that strong?

Not only that, he was also a burden to have around.

He would most likely need to eat humans to stay alive, which I didn't find particularly amusing. I didn't care much about the common folk, but I wasn't keen on feeding humans to this thing without knowing if he could even grow. He wasn't such a valuable asset.

Also, having a demon with me would be a Hashira magnet, so to speak. I knew that they had senses that were developed enough to tell a demon apart, unless they were good at hiding their presence.

'Wait a minute.' I looked at the demon up and down. 'Isn't that an actual good use for him?'

The demon's face which I previously found disgusting suddenly didn't look as unpleasant anymore.

"Buddy, we are going to achieve big things together." I patted him on the shoulders, to which he showed no reaction. "Let's go, it's time to bait out a Hashira."

Now, why would anyone on their right mind would want to bait out a Hashira, one may ask. It's very simple to answer; I'm not on my right mind.

Back in my old world I was able to adapt and function as a normal human being, but now? Now I could do whatever the fuck I wanted to and could afford to deal with the consequences.

Oh? Is that a very precious object you have? Let me steal it. You are trying to rob me? Oh, let me cut your hands as a repayment, you damn scoundrel.

 Well, you get the point.

In this world there were 2 groups that could be called strong: the Hashira and the Twelve Moons. Well, more like the Upper Moons. The lower ones are kind of cannon fodder as well.

So, besides Muzan, these are the strongest individuals around on this world that I know of. Who knows if there are stronger demons or individuals somewhere that were never showed on the main story.

The point is, how could I pass on the opportunity to fight such strong individuals? To me few things could be more fun right now.

Now, why the Hashira and not the Upper Moons? It's easy, the Hashira would be easier to find. Kill enough humans and/or demon slayers and a Hashira will be sent.

The Upper Moons on the other hand are a lot more slippery. Searching for them would be a pain in the ass, so I rather bait out the Hashira.

And, if I want to find the Upper Moons, there is a Upper Moon radar by the name of Kamado Tanjiro that would help me find them. He's such a useful guy.

"Anyways, let's go, Hashira bait."

I started walking off in a random direction, before stopping for a moment.

There was no need for me to go off searching for a village in a random direction. Instead, I already had a place that I could use for my purposes.

Backtracking, I headed back to where I came from. We didn't get too far from the house of my kind hosts, so it wouldn't take us long to go back.

Some time has passed since I ran out to chase the demon, so I wonder what did the father-daughter duo did.

'Only one way to find out.'

**********

"Are you being serious Koji?" An serious-looking old man asked Koji in a tone that said he wouldn't tolerate any jokes on the matter.

"I'm telling you, Chief. 2 demons invaded my house, and one of them tried to attack my daughter. Please help me."

The chief massaged his brows. "So the demon that you invited into your house started fighting with the demon that wanted to attack your daughter, correct?"

"Exactly! Who knows what will happen when the demon comes back. We have to do something chief." Koji spoke with urgency, he wasn't feeling safe knowing that the demon he himself invited in could return to deal with them.

In the corner of the room an old woman could be seen consoling Kana, who looked very distressed.

"It's fine Kana, you're safe now." The old woman hugged Kana, while she cried silently.

The chief looked troubled. The situation Koji was describing sounded too fantastic to be believable, but seeing Kana in such a state gave Koji more credibility. Besides, he didn't think Koji would invent such a story.

"I've heard the tales. There are man-eaters demons in this world. But up until now I've only thought of them as that, tales." the chief looked at Koji straight into the eyes. "If what you're telling me is true, then we have a big problem in our hands."

Even if he believed Koji's words, there wasn't much the chief could do in this situation. If there really was a man-eating demon, then how could he dealt with it?

"What should we do, chief?" Koji plead the chief for an answer, but the chief remained silent. "Chief, please tell me you know what to do." Koji grabbed the chief clothes, and the desperation on his voice and eyes was clear to any onlooker.

"Listen, I know you are worried, but there's not much we can do." The chief sighed. "For now why don't the both of you stay here for the night and we figure something out in the morning? If what you told me it's true, I doubt the demon will come back. He would have to deal with the other demon, and I don't think that will be easy."

Koji and the chief looked at each other intensely for a moment, but then Koji released the chief's clothes.

"Fine, we'll do as you say. We should be safe for tonight."

The chief smiled in relief. He didn't know what to do if Koji insisted on doing something about the situation. It's better if he has time to deal with it later. That is, if the situation it's true.

"Thought, maybe we should check your house. I believe you, but I have to check your claims just in case."

Koji thought about it for a moment, and then nodded. "That's fine. I'll show you the dama-"

"There's no need to do that." A sudden voice interrupted Koji's sentence, making Koji's eyes widen in realization.

A young man with light red hair and yellow eyes with multiple red rings within them was standing by the doorstep.

"Yo, how's it going, Koji-san? Are we having a pijama party or something?" the young man said.
