"Would that be so wrong, Sabian?" Khalan asked as he pulled out a chair and sat down, facing the mayor directly.

"Sometimes, I wonder what you think with…" Sabian said, his voice dripping with disappointment.

"Can you imagine a war with the vampires? The vampires… not other humans!"

"They have weaknesses, Mayor…" Khalan retorted. "They are not indestructible."

"I'm aware but have you tested this weakness theory of yours?"

"No…" Khalan said.

"I suggest you put war out of your mind," Sabian said. "We should try talking first with the vampires…tell them what had happened with the beasts…"

"Talk?!" Khalan queried then chuckled. "We would have finished… be extinct before speaking would work…"
