"Shit! What now?!" Sgt. Maraya exclaims as our watches go off in urgent beeps.

People all around the cafe all turn to us to see what the commotion is all about. Tripod, having been startled by the sudden noise, immediately cuddled up next to his mama for comfort. Lt. Song takes him in in an embrace as she reads the contents of the message that's been sent to our team.

This sudden beeping sound means that we've been assigned an emergency mission, and we're  supposed to drop what we're doing and attend to the mission as instructed.

"A retrieval operation for a prospective witness at a pletios. The witness is being moved to a different location and we are supposed to intervene before he is transferred," she says.

I too turn my attention to the message.
