Ethan is not a capture target, unlike Isaac and Arthur.
He is a mere cannon fodder just like him, but his appearance in the story is as important as the male leads. It is because he is one of the villains of the story.
He became a villain not because he is a terrible man. But because of his overboard love for his sister.
He is just a man with a severe sister complex. Anyone who makes his sister cry would face hell.
That's why, when Ethan approached him, Xie was a bit scared. Not a bit. He was terrified.
His heart was beating so loudly that his ears seemed to fill with nothing except the erratic thumping sound inside his ribcage.
He didn't dare to make him go away, afraid of the man's retaliation.
The original did make a mistake and had brazenly annulled the engagement with his beloved sister without discussing anything. For the duke family, image and reputation were everything to them.
Because of him, they became a laughingstock for almost two years. At every gathering or party, people would speak ill about the Duke's daughter, openly stabbing at the family's sore spot.
Due to this, the Duke relocated to another region and abandoned his high position in the palace. Their family went to the countryside after the daughter married someone else.
For ten years, no one heard any news about the Duke Family.
Xie's first reaction was to run away and many thoughts flashed inside his mind.
What if he came here for revenge? Would he be mad at him for recklessly dissolving his relationship with his sister?
Perhaps, he came here intending to give him a piece of his mind alongside a punch on his face?
He anxiously waited, feeling very nervous inside his heart, even though his face seemed calm and composed.
However, the opposite happened.
Ethan couldn't care less about the annulment, nor did he mention anything about his sister to him.
From the start, all he talked about related only to him and Arthur.
His tone was a bit wrong every time he mentioned Arthur's name. His voice laced with dissatisfaction directed toward the man, and would you believe it if he said that he smelt the sour odor of vinegar from this man? That his jealousy was very prominent?
Xie looked at his right and left, slightly narrowing his eyes before sniffing around his wrists. He smelt nothing from his body, only the scent of the shower gel he used when he took a bath this morning.
Someone said his smell attracted zombies. Did it also affect humans?
No matter what, he felt his situation was very complicated. He could no longer rely on the original memory or the plotline to determine his following action.
The story never mentioned Ethan held an affectionate feeling toward Xie, nor did it say the man was gay.
Was it because he usually died soon after Xie's in every route?
But, in one of the routes provided by the game, there was a line mentioning Ethan married a noble lady and lived happily ever after with his wife and children. How can a straight man turn bend after meeting him?
The most logical answer he could come out with, all of these glitches happened after he transmigrated into this place. Before this, the story operated normally.
Wasn't he the cause of all this abnormality? It might be so.
Isaac's unnatural behavior. He is a straight man, but his interest in Xie sparked out of nowhere.
The protagonist radiated unusual hostility toward him on their first meeting. They're obviously strangers, yet Leyla Klein seemed to target him without a proper reason.
For this, Xie suspected her as a transmigrator just like him.
Arthur's abnormal conduct. He was supposed to hate him, but the hatred vanished soon, replaced by inexplainable emotion inside his eyes. He should be happy to divorce him regardless of the consequence of their separation, but the man was clearly unwilling to let him go.
The story progressed rapidly. Xie thought he had many times in his hands, but whoever had imagined that the plots had gone haywire, and the things that should happen later in the future happened sooner than he expected?
This damn story caused me to has headache so early in the morning. Xie inwardly groaned.
"Madam?" Alaric arrived at the first floor and saw his Madam's troubling expression. "Did you already have your breakfast?"
Xie nodded his head.
"What about you?"
"I'm on my way to the restaurant." Alaric rubbed his stomach. "I'm hungry."
"Let's go together. Ah, don't go that way," Xie tugged Alaric's arm and pulled him away from the lobby. "Isaac and Ethan were there, and I don't want to stumble upon them."
"Ethan? Who is that?"
"Maria's elder brother."
"Miss Maria?!"
"Not her, but her elder brother." Xie corrected him.
"Why did Sir Ethan appear in this place?" Alaric felt incredulous when he blurted out this question.
"How should I know? I'm not close to him. But he suddenly approached me and acted buddy-buddy toward me."
Alaric was dumbfounded.
"Shouldn't he dislike you, Madam? You made his sister lose her face, humiliating her and her family, and their entire family had to relocate to somewhere far away because of you."
"Right? He should hate me." Xie couldn't help but agree with Alaric's words. "And yet his face showed no hatred on it, rather..." Adoration. Ethan was not awkward to act intimate with him as if they were a long-separated lovers.
What was the actual reason for Ethan coming here? Was it just as he said because he missed him?
Xie shuddered. Somehow, the prospect scared him off. He rubbed his forearms while frowning in distaste.
Xie left the looby with Alaric but immediately halted his steps.
He felt a tingling sensation come from his scalp and travel downward to his tailbone. Goosebumps pricked his skin and solicited shivers to race down his spine.
He felt a burning gaze, filled with malice, fall directly on him from somewhere. It felt like a stalker who had locked down on his target and now just waiting for a perfect time to attack him.
Uh...who was it?
Isaac or Ethan? Did they realize that he had run away?
Xie looked behind his shoulder, and from a distance, he saw the two men still engaging in a staring contest. They were indifferent toward their surrounding.
Not them? Then, who?
-------
A young woman in a pastel green dress that reached under her knees, with her curly light brown hair stopped in the middle of her milky white exposed backside, clenched her hands so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
Once she opened her hands, her fingernails bruised her palm, leaving a red, five-set crescent-like shape on the smooth flesh. Beads of red liquid oozed out of the wounds.
Can you guess who she is?
Who else, if not the protagonist. She came to check Xie with the help of her omnipotent system.
Leyla gritted her teeth.
Why did those men, whose supposed to fawn on her, all flock around this Xie Winchester?! Was the man a male magnet? Every single man willingly prostrates under his feet and worships him?
His beauty is certainly beyond remarkable, but he is only a minor character in a novel!
He is an unworthy minor character, a cannon fodder that existed only to serve his life at the silver plater for the main character's success!
Leyla didn't know the reason, but she hated Xie Winchester so much that it became unbearable for her to suppress her feeling. She only wishes for his demise and hopes for his death and keeps chanting it like a prayer every day.
She cannot accept it.
Seeing him smile so freely, shrouded by love and freedom, untainted, and seemed unattainable, she despised it so much!
Die! You needed to die, Xie Winchester, in the cruelest and most gruesome way. Only by this will her hatred go away. So, hurry up and die!
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
Another chapter! Have a nice day and do leave me some comments and reviews.
Thank you.
