Chapitre 112: Recruiting an Old Enemy

"WHERE'S THE LAMB SAUCE?!"

Jacob, the one who became King Crimson angrily yells at the kitchen staff who were getting the food ready for the people at the cafeteria while Evan, Michelle and Miguel were watching him from the sidelines.

It's only been one day since Gustav was captured, Rodeo's team being declared as a Mobile Task Force unit and finding Jacob, the one who has become King Crimson. While he's a good person, he can be a massive hot head sometimes... maybe often.

"WHERE IS IT?!"

"We're all out." One of the staff members nervously answered.

"BLOODY HELL!" Jacob roared, but then he saw a piece of meat being cooked. Upon closer inspection he saw it was raw.

His expression changed several times from shock to anger.

"IT'S FOCKEN' RAW! THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!"

"Sooooo should we do something about this?" Evan asked as he watches Jacob barking loudly at the scared and frightened staff members, trying to cook at a fast pace.

"Well Jacob did say he's a good cook and has managed a kitchen staff before in the real world." Miguel explained, "But I didn't expect him to go full Gordon Ramsay."

"Yep." Michelle nodded.

"COME ON PEOPLE! YOU THREE!!" He pointed to Evan, Michelle, and Miguel in the distance.

"Yes?" Both asked.

"Evan, cut some onions. Michelle, handle the turnips. Miguel, handle the carrots."

They both nolded and started doing their respective tasks. Jacob borrows a phone from one of the staff members and makes a call.

"Hello?"

———————————————————————

The scene shifted to a random store somewhere in America, Carson was currently choosing which product he should pick, but was then interrupted by his phone vibrating located in his pocket.

Bringing it out, he asked, "Yeah?"

[Need your help. Think you can get some lamb sauce and get over here?]

"I can't. I'm buying some clothes."

[Well hurry up, get the sauce and come over here.]

"That's the thing though, I can't find any clothes. There's only soup." Carson said while holding a soup can on his left hand.

———————————————————————

"..."

Back at Site-17, Jacob could only stand there in silence after hearing what Carson just said, but it was the calm before the storm.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN THERE'S ONLY SOUP?!" Jacob roared as he proceeded to punch a hole through a wall on his right.

[I mean there's only soup!]

"THEN GET OUT OF THE FUCKING SOUP AISLE!"

———————————————————————

"Alright man, you don't have to shout at me. Jeez." Carson mumbled as he continued walking and looked left and right to find something that he was looking for, only to find more soup.

"There's more soup!"

———————————————————————

Back at site-17, Jacob was chopping some carrots angrily with a knife.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S MORE SOUP?!"

[There's just more soup!]

In anger, Jacob proceeded to throw the knife at Evan which he yelped and quickly ducks, letting the knife hit the wall instead.

"GO INTO THE NEXT AISLE!"

———————————————————————

At the store, Carson went to the next aisle like Jacob told him to, only to see more soup.

"There's still more soup!"

———————————————————————

At site-17, Jacob had Evan in a choke hold because he didn't cut the onions right.

"WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW, YOU IDIOT?!"

[I'm at soup!]

Yeeting Evan towards a wall and he crashes into it, Jacob holds the phone and yells furiously.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE AT SOUP?!"

[I mean I'm at soup!]

"WHAT STORE ARE YOU IN?!"

———————————————————————

At the store, Carson looks around till he sees the sign outside the store and it was literally written 'Soup store'.

"I'M AT THE SOUP STORE!"

———————————————————————

"WHY ARE YOU BUYING CLOTHES AT THE SOUP STORE?!"

[....You know what, I'm not gonna answer that question and just get your damn lamb sauce for cooking. Cool?]

"FUCK YOU!"  Jacob yelled angrily, he ended the calls and threw the phone across the room, shattering it into pieces.

"I'm surrounded by idiots!"

Behind him, the door opened and it was Molly Collingwood.

" ^_^ Hey Jacob."

"WHAT!?"

"o_o ...I uh... just wanted to say how's everything going."

"Well, all the staff here is shit. Carson's an idiot and I'm having a goddamn headache. Other than those three things I'm perfectly fine."

"Ok... but anyways have you seen Rodeo anywhere?" She decided to ask, forgotting the event just seconds ago.

"Our great leader is handling some recruitment for our MTF team with the help of Dr. Buck."

"Recruitment?"

"Yeah. But who he is recruiting I have no idea but Jones got a message from the O5 that Rodeo can recruit anybody he wants and that Dr. Buck should supervise Rodeo during recruitment procedures." Jacob explains, still with a pissed off expression.

"I see."

'Just wondering who he might be recruiting into our team.' Jacob thought in curiosity.

———————————————————————

Scene shifted to the interrogation room, Rodeo and Amelia Buck were sitting on their respective chairs next to a table, the room was also surrounded by ten Mobile Task Force soldiers, armed with assault rifles.

Why?

Well sitting on the other side of the table was none other than the Spy, the one who has become Silver Chariot and he still didn't have his armor platings on his body ever since the fight at Site-19.

"Quite the company you brought with you here, Dr. Buck. Surely they're not here to protect you or are they?" Spy asked and greeted the two politely.

"No. They're meant to keep you from escaping from this room or trying to pull a stunt." Amelia replied in a serious tone.

"I see, but why did you two bring me here? I gave you all the info I had regarding my client and his connection to the Chaos Insurgency. What else could you possibly want from me?"

Amelia and Rodeo looked at each other and then back at him, Rodeo leaned forward and declared.

"Join my team and work for the SCP Foundation."

Blinking his eyes twice, Spy starts to laugh loudly.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA.. *snort* *snort* HAHAHAHAHA *snort* HAHAHAHA!"

"I'm serious, Spy."

Stopping his laughter, Spy stares at Rodeo mockingly like he was an idiot, he says, "After attacking site-19, playing psychological warfare against the Foundation to draw Dr. Buck out and capture her, stabbing and shooting you and most of your friends and almost getting killed. You want me to join you?"

"Look Spy, we found out your client's real name after interrogating the mole he sent here in Site-17, given the fact that your contract with him has been terminated because you and your team failed and since you and your team are all loose ends to him that needs to be terminated. You don't have anyone else you can trust besides me, the Foundation and if by luck you escape from here... the Serpent's Hand. The Global Occult Coalition will no doubt want you dead and going back to the Chaos Insurgency is well like I mentioned right now they will terminate you. If you also go out there alone you will face monstrosities that only exist in your nightmares, and most of them are of the world ending type as well. And also... don't you want to go back home?"

Listening to all of the words Rodeo says, Spy thought for a moment. It's true that he wanted to go back home as well and be human again, but if he also does go across the world given his current skills and new body he might survive for long but not too long.

But if he gets spotted by either the Chaos Insurgency and the Global Occult Coalition. they will no doubt take him out and even if he were to go to the Serpent's Hand, the CI, GOC & The Foundation will just find him and sure he can escape some situations unscathed but for how long? He wasn't sure if he dies, will he respawn back just like he did back in his world or will die for good.

For goodness sake, he's a mercenary, a gun for hire and he worked with the Chaos Insurgency because he was paid for it but didn't see the consequences of what would happen if he failed and he suspected his client for some time as well.

But if he were to join the Foundation he could be protected from the eyes of the Chaos Insurgency and the Global Occult Coalition and perhaps head back home quicker... and maybe get some money as well. I mean he is a mercenary after all. At least he should get something for his services.

"So how about it, Spy?" Rodeo asked, waiting for his answer.

"Does the rest of your team know about this conversation we are having?" Spy questions, this time in a serious tone.

"They only think I'm recruiting someone for a new team that has been made by the Foundation. Which is true actually but they don't know I'm trying to recruit you. And if you're worried that they might have trust issues with you then don't worry I'll sort it out with them."

"Alright, I accept."

Hearing his answer, Rodeo was about to end this discussion, but before that, Spy added.

"However, being a mercenary like me, every mercenary needs a contract and... a certain price that needs to be paid if you want to hire me."

"We already have." Amelia said.

Raising a brow, Spy spotted one of the MTF soldiers approach him and placed a file in front of him. Spy opened the file and it was a contract. He read the contract and its terms and conditions carefully.

"According to the contract, you are ready to pay me one billion dollars but will give only 100,000 dollars out of that one billion at the end of each month to me so long as I work with you and if I were to pull any betrayal or stunt, you will put me in a containment cell again and...."

As Spy looked through the contract, he caught one detail which caused his eyes to widen, "Wait, am I reading this right? Rodeo, here is the one acting as captain for this team made by the Foundation and I have to listen to his orders no matter what?!"

Amelia calms him down and explains, "I know you're an adult, Spy, even Krieg as well and that you two have more experience in military combat than anyone else. But when it comes to leadership I think Rodeo has done quite well against you and the Chaos Insurgency mole whose name I will not specify to you and has played his cards better than anyone else. Am I right or wrong?"

Cursing underneath his breath, Spy wanted to protest or say something but he had to agree with her. Rodeo was able to predict that he was about to capture Amelia and lured his gang into a room in Site-19 and kept his team well organized with a plan.

Sighing, he nodded, "No you're right. Against my team, his cards played very well in most situations and I'm not sure what he did with this mole you keep mentioning but I'm pretty sure he did something smart. Did you, Rodeo?" He glanced at the latter.

"Yes I did. So Spy, how about it? Deal or no deal?" Rodeo asked, extending his hand  waiting to receive a handshake.

Looking at the contract again then at Rodeo, Spy finally answered.

"You got yourselves a mercenary, mon ami."

Signing the contract, Spy shakes his hands with Rodeo & Amelia.

"Quite the contract you two made for me and given the fact that you're gonna pay me 100,000 thousand dollars at the end of each month from the one billion, I'll be stuck with the Foundation for a long time until we figure a way out of this world and until I get fully paid."

"Yeah. Now we need to talk to the rest of the team regarding this."

"Do you think they will take it well?" Amelia asked Rodeo.

"....I'm pretty sure they will take it well."
