Baiyi began to explain the details of his sudden epiphany to the curious Voidwalkers.
His theory was not without a foundation. A complete soul is said to exist when a soul container holds the consciousness of a particular being. If either the soul container or the consciousness is missing, a soul is said to be incomplete; that was the case they had on their hands: a container without any consciousness. To someone from earth, this analogy would be "a new computer without an operating system".
TL’S MUSINGS:
Hmm. Since that I mentioned the word ‘cult’, my brain started to be filled with words and facts and stories about all those cults I have heard of before. That one cult that had really shocked me through the core was Aum Shinrikyo… A Japanese doomsday cult that was responsible for the sarin gas attack in Tokyo Subway in 1995. The leader was only executed this year (as I was writing, it’s 2018). It was really eerie.
“It was a holy attempt to elevate the doomed souls of this world to a higher spiritual stage.”
The leader was eerie. But he’s also kinda infuriating. No one asked him or his cultists to save them. That arrogance!
