The formations described in those few books were rather basic. They were also average and much simpler in comparison to the ones he had read before. If he read those books back then, it would not have been that hard to learn formations since he would have understood them very quickly. 

Maha-Vairocana's Immobility Scripture had indeed enhanced his intelligence. As he went through the books, he found it extremely easy to gain a thorough understanding of the contents at a glance. A sense of excitement began to stir within him as he felt an urge to go deeper into the study of formations. 

However, he decided to suppress this urge and cultivate the Great Light Scripture first to avoid shocking everyone else.

As he continued to improve his Great Light Scripture cultivation, his Divine Light Body grew stronger too.
