"Huh? Why would she need to cry?"
"She probably hasn't finished her homework, as there were many questions she hadn't completed…" The mussel answered. However, it immediately realized it had betrayed its master after answering The Lord's question.
The little kid in the shell quickly covered its mouth and closed its shell, "Yikes! I… I didn’t say anything…"
It was utterly silent in the room, but the mussel could not even hear The Lord’s breath. Was he gone? The mussel opened its shell and stretched its head out to take a peek. It noticed The Lord was still there looking at the three of them.
The mussel trembled and wanted to shrink back into its shell, but The Lord suddenly spoke, "I want you to leave the house in 15 minutes and build your own shelters!"
Three of them were silent.
...
Gu Xijiu was worried about what the three majestic beings would say to The Lord. However, she could not do anything now except pray for them.
She worked very quickly, and soon the house was cleaned. In fact, the house was not that dirty; it was mainly dusty.
She has already wiped down all the furniture in the house in a few minutes, and everything was back to its original clean state.
She found two plates on the table while she cleaned the house. There were fruits and pastry on them. There was a rare spiritual fruit, and the pastries were made from spiritual grains. There were three fruits and three pieces of pastries.
Both the spiritual fruit and pastry were sufficient to keep her full for one whole day even if she consumed one a day. Hence, she could sustain her life for six days without stepping out from the house.
Seemed like The Lord has prepared everything for her and she only needed to wander around the house to find it. Unfortunately, she was in a hurry to leave the house as The Lord was not there.
Gu Xijiu felt grateful in her heart but also guilty at the same time. The Lord was really annoying, but he treated her relatively nicely and cared about her.
Because of Long Xi, she automatically set a barrier between her and any man who acted like her mentor.
She was just like Yang Guo, who had been bullied too often by his mentor (Zhao Zhijing). He even hated the term 'mentor' and was only willing to address Xiaolongnu as an aunt.
Gu Xijiu’s situation was slightly similar to Yang Guo's, however, one was abused by their mentor, and the other one was disappointed and betrayed. Yet, her mentality was very similar to Yang Guo's as both of them shared the feeling - once bitten, twice shy! Therefore, she decided not to seek any mentorship, especially from a man.
However, being mentored by The Lord was an unavoidable coincidence, and was initially just a temporary plan. She did not see herself as an official follower of The Lord, even though that was her title.
Now, she finally found a special feeling; she respected The Lord. It was different from the feelings she had for Long Siye. She admired The Lord, but she had no idea what kind of feeling she had for Long Siye. She recalled the dream again and suddenly got irritated.
Long Xi used to be a hidden wound in her heart, and the past was a scar to remind her of her 'stupidity,' which made her avoid thinking about it. She did not even want to see this person anymore.
Gu Xijiu had no idea when she had stopped avoiding this taboo. She even began to use it as a reference during her reflections. Most importantly, she did not hate Long Xi anymore.
Note:
Yang Guo and Xiaolongnu were the main characters in The Return of the Condor Heroes, which is a wuxia novel by Jin Yong. Zhao Zhijing was the master of Yang Guo and always tortured him. Later, Yang Guo met his new mentor(Xiaolongnu) but only address her as ‘Gugu’(auntie) and they get married at the end.
