The next morning, Gu Xijiu had made a date with Qian Lingyu to hear his report on his practice. However, he still had not shown up even after she had finished her morning lesson.
Surprisingly, she saw him walking frantically in circles outside the door. Even more surprisingly, Gu Canmo was there too.
Both of them came to her immediately.
The moment Gu Canmo saw her, he asked, "Is The Lord here?"
Gu Xijiu raised her brows then took a look at Gu Canmo. He seemed to be a little confounded and pale. However, his clothes were neat, and his posture was straight. He did not seem like someone who had just suffered severe punishment.
Gu Canmo had his punishment last night. It was the punishment that he deserved. The punishments were the ones that were given to the mussel, such as starvation, pinpricking, and burning.
The mussel itself supervised these punishments, so the disciples in the punishment hall did not dare to relax at all. The mussel had just come back this morning, and it was a little dejected and despondent, as it remembered how it screamed in anguish and pain when they carried out the punishment before. However, Gu Canmo was stiff like a wood when he was punished. He did not let out a sound at all. He gave the mussel a sense of failure.
The mussel said that the supervision was very weary, so he went home instead and had a good sleep. The supervision duties had worn the mussel down, but Gu Canmo, as the one who was being punished, seemed completely fine. He made Gu Xijiu feel that he indeed had the power and strength they said he possessed.
Gu Xijiu had always admired strong people like him, so she did not give him a hard time and told him directly that The Lord was not around. However, she did not know anything about when he was going to come back, or even if he was coming back at all.
Gu Canmo was already used to the way The Lord came and went. He did not come to visit for anything particular. He was only here to pay respects to The Lord.
Now that The Lord was not around, he might as well skip the greetings. Just when he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something and took out a black pass to Gu Xijiu. He told her that it was a student’s pass for the Tianju Hall. With the pass, she could go to the affairs department and get all her daily necessities. She could also get her meals at the canteen.
As she was currently a guest student, she could only get the same meals as the students in the Liuyun class. Gu Xijiu had everything she needed for her daily necessities, but she could use the pass to get better food. She thanked him sincerely and took the pass. She then asked about when Principal Gu was going to serve his sentence in the cell.
Black-faced, Principal Gu said to her, "Today! I am here to bid farewell to The Lord regarding the matter."
He would not be able to come and pay his respect to The Lord anymore after he started serving his jail sentence.
Gu Xijiu smiled, "When The Lord is back, I'll report this to The Lord. Principal Gu can rest assured."
Gu Canmo looked at the smile on the young lady’s face and thought to himself that this lady was really not to be trifled with. He turned around and left. The sight of his back was rather tragic and melancholic.
After he left, Qian Lingyu started to laugh frantically. It was the first time for him to see the dignified Principal Gu being so depressed. He felt unusually satisfied even though he felt slightly sorry for him. After all, Principal Gu had indeed treated him very well before. When he went too far into his practice and was possessed, Principal Gu took care of him for three days and three nights. It was said that he did not leave his side at all.
After that, he even went around to seek medical advice. Principal Gu was even more attentive than his own father. When he started to have a cynical perspective towards life and got himself involved in numerous fights, he became a problematic student. He kept his own course in spite of Principal Gu speaking to him many times. He had even punished him several times. In the end, he gave him up completely as he realized whatever he did was hopeless.
In this two years, Headmaster Gu did not give any response when he saw him. Most of the time, he was scolding him, and he also pretended he did not see him even when he was bullied by other students. Every student in the Tianju Hall was afraid of Headmaster Gu, just as though rats saw a cat. However, Gu Xijiu was an exception.
Since Qian Lingyu was not allowed to enter the courtyard, hence, Gu Xijiu set an agreement with him to meet at a certain time every day, and they could have their breakfast together.
The cafeteria in the Tianju Hall was huge and it was comprised of upper and lower levels. One level was for the students from the Ziyun class, and the other level was for the students from the Liuyun class.
Level one was served with many different dishes from the sky to the land and the sea. Some were even cooked with spiritual meat and herbs which were beneficial to enhance spiritual power. Level two was a counter style cafeteria. The dishes were normal with lesser varieties.
Compared to the dishes on level one, there was a huge gap between them.
Of course, the students from the Liuyun class also could enjoy the dishes on level one, but they needed to buy their food with spiritual stones, and they could only earn the spiritual stones by enrolling for missions.
It was not easy to earn the spiritual stones. The students from the Liuyun class only earned enough to buy two sets of dishes from level one's cafeteria after working for 10 days!
The students from the Ziyun class did not need to pay for their food. They were allowed to take it for free. Nonetheless, to prevent the students from the Ziyun class from secretly giving food to those from the Liuyun class, there was a limit imposed on how much food could be taken.
Therefore, the students from the Liuyin class needed to buy their food and spiritual herbs, and they had to manage their own finances. Hence, the students from Liuyun class were generally living a tough life.
The worst part of it was that the students were not allowed to go out unless they were conducting their missions. Thus, they had to have their meals in the cafeteria even though it was not tasty. Moreover, they even had to pass by level one to go to level two’s cafeteria with all the students from Ziyun class watching them.
It was indeed pitiful for the students from the Liuyun class to have their meal as they felt like the students from the Ziyun class were judging them whenever they walked by. Therefore, Gu Xijiu did experience such a great attention when she came here for her meal.
She even experienced more ferocious glares compared to other normal students from Liuyun class. She was helpless as she was too famous!
And that was also her first time to be there. Hence, everyone’s gaze automatically switched to her.
The moment Gu Xijiu and Qian Lingyu stepped into the cafeteria building, countless pairs of eyes were watching them, and of course, it followed by a lot of whispering behind their backs. Those words were not anything nice to hear, and the laughter was all evil!
‘She is Gu Xijiu? So what if she is The Lord’s disciple? She needs to follow the rules!’
‘How come she is with Qian Lingyu? I guess they are just meant to be in the same group as both of them are as lousy as each other.’
Those words were lingering around her ears.
Luckily, Gu Xijiu was used to those criticisms. She was as calm as though she was walking through a beautiful garden. Qian Lingyu could not take it and finally voiced out, "Gu Xijiu hasn’t done her tests, perhaps she can go to the Ziyun class! What is lousy? She is capable, and she is a Phoenix! A capable phoenix…"
