The wild beast rushed towards Xiao Rou who seemed to have abandoned all hope.
Her delicate frame trembled as she accepted her fate, shutting her eyes.
Will I die just like this? Death by those set of claws… do they hurt a lot?
...Oh?
I feel so light. Is this how death feels like? Doesn’t feel right…
Xiao Rou opened both of her eyes in doubt.
Between her eyes, a slim silhouette unknowingly appeared right in front of her. The figure donned a familiar torn blanket as a cape, unexpectedly holding back the enormous beast.
Xiao Rou was stunned!
H-How could this be possible?
He actually held the gigantic wild beast back with his obviously severe injuries…
In this moment, Xiao Rou’s thoughts abruptly flashed back to yesterday where she first saw Xu Que. Images of the miserable scene of him drenched in blood appeared. But now, he is right in front of her, protecting her without a care for his life.
Xiao Rou sniffed with tears filling up her eyes.
At the same time, the surrounding villagers who were unreactive to Xu Que’s lightning fast speed were stumped at whatever he was doing now.
However, just witnessing the slim figure stopping the huge wild beast caused the villagers to become deeply awestricken.
How is it possible that a person— injured to such an extent, can hold back such a massive and ferocious beast?
"Roar!"
This time, the wild beast had let out a thunderous roar, snapping everyone back into reality.
It lifted its gigantic beastly claws into the air while panting in rage before abruptly bringing them down to the ground.
Everybody were startled and shocked as they screamed out,
"This is not good. Quickly retreat!"
"Little doll, escape!"
"Be careful…"
Xiao Rou was frightened too as she turns pale. She reached out her tiny hands to try and pull Xu Que back but realized that she couldn’t move an inch.
With Xu Que’s frame of skin and bones standing in the face of the huge and immense beast, it looked like a clear match-up of the strong against the weak.
Despite resisting the first attack by the beast, no one believed that he was an even match for it.
Xu Que who had remained still the entire time, immediately lifted up his right leg and kicked the wild beast.
"Thump!"
A cry of agony followed, stunning the crowd again.
The colossal and ferocious beast was kicked flying into the air and it landed hard on the ground before sliding some distance from the impact of the kick.
The villagers were astonished.
One… One kick and the beast flew? What kind of damned leg power does he have? What leg strength?
"Ding! Congratulations to host ‘Xu Que’ for successfully subtly acting tough. The reward is three act tough points."
"Ding! Congratulations to host ‘Xu Que’ for successfully subtly acting tough. The reward is five act tough points."
The system beeped twice in a row but Xu Que couldn’t care less on how he scored twice. His one and only reason for being here was to save Xiao Rou.
Because of that, he made use of his internal five-attributed spiritual Qi and coherently executed his kick in an explosive manner.
However, he immediately felt vaguely that his legs were going numb.
The beast lying in front of him was by no means weak and was equipped with a very thick hide. One kick would definitely not kill it under normal circumstances.
"Fellow villagers, rest assured, this animal is mine!"
Xu Que gave a shout and rushed towards the beast, pinning its head on the ground, giving it a thorough beating with a flurry of punches and kicks.
Every punch and kick subtly contained Qi, causing the beast to wail and howl in pain.
The villagers were dumbfounded, lifelessly witnessing this scene and some of them couldn’t grasp the situation unfolding before their eyes.
The once seemingly gigantic and ferocious beast was beaten down to a level of helplessness.
This feeling was identical to witnessing a muscular, able-bodied man beaten into submission by a mumbling, small kid. Anybody would feel dumbfounded watching this.
"Ding! Congratulations to host ‘Xu Que’ for defeating Tiger-Ox beast and successfully acting tough. The reward is one act tough point."
"Ding! Congratulations to host "Xu Que" on defeating Tiger-Bull Beast. Acquired 1200 experience."
"Whoosh!"
As the system beeped, Xu Que heaved a sigh of relief.
He conveniently lied down on the beast’s carcass as a rush of power came into him. This was because every skin pore on his body opened up and spiritual Qi flowed into him from all directions.
He felt stronger again.
"Ding! Congratulations to host ‘Xu Que’ on leveling up! Current stage is Foundation Building Stage Level 1."
"Ding! Congratulations to host ‘Xu Que’ on entering Foundation Building Stage. Rewarded with ‘Big Growth Gift Bag’ x 1. Every increase in a stage entitles host to open gift bag once. Do you want to check its contents?"
"Ding! Reminder for host ‘Xu Que’: your skill path, <Ancient Five Elemental Arts>, Beginner’s Level has already reached its peak, unable to train further. The leftover 200 experience points has already been deposited into the experience deposit pool. Please purchase the intermediate level manual as soon as possible."
Xu Que was stunned. One wild beast was already a thousand over experience?
Damn! This is so much more worth it than eating Experience Pills! Seems like I shall train on the mountains to level up in the future.
After consideration, Xu Que was ready to open the Big Growth Gift bag for a look. All of a sudden, his body felt like it was emptied up. No, it’s more like someone was lifting his body up.
He woke up into realization and found out that the villagers had lifted him up. Everyone were brimming with smiles, mixed with their expressions of surprise.
They started cheering and threw Xu Que into the air, caught him, and then threw him up again to celebrate his triumph over the beast.
An elderly shouted with a trembling voice, "Good , good, good, we have a young hero!"
"Little brother, you have natural God-like powers! You’ll definitely make it in the future."
"That’s right. The Village chief was right in saying that you are a hero, a lucky star bestowed upon our village from the skies.!"
…
Amidst everyone’s cheers, Xu Que’s nickname was changed from "Little Doll" to "Little Brother".
Xu Que started boasting shamelessly, "I am flattered. Everyone, I am flattered. Nobody but I would dare to say, but I eat such wild beasts for breakfast!"
Pow!
Xu Que was once again lifted into the air but this time, he felt cold. He realized that the blanket cape on his back was missing. When he turned his head to take a look, he realized that several brat kids took it off his back.
He frantically covered his stomach and exclaimed, "Fellow villagers, please close your eyes!"
Everybody was stunned as they witness the smooth and silky skin of Xu Que. A few village ladies blushed at the sight and looked away.
Xiao Rou was shocked too and was going to cover up her eyes. However, when she subconsciously saw the red cloth Xu Que tied between his legs to cover his privates, she was stunned.
That red cloth… Why was it so familiar?
That embroidery on the read cloth… Why does it look... Similar to mine?
Ah!
Xiao Rou realised something,as she covered her mouth and blushed. Even her ears were red. She then scurried away in embarrassment.
The villagers finally put Xu Que down after a long time.
One of the able-bodied men took the stolen blanket from the brats and donned it again on him. He urged him to be careful not to catch a cold.
The old village chief holding a walking stick, ordered for clothes to be fetched.
In the end, Xiao Rou ran back again, offering a set of light blue clothing. She lowered her tiny head while blushing and stuffed the clothes into Xu Que’s hands. She then turned and ran away without saying a word.
Upon receiving the clothes, Xu Que wondered why Xiao Rou was so often bashful and shy around him.
Could it be that I appeared too manly and strong as I defeated the beast and caused the girl’s heart to be moved? Aiya! That’s… That’s making me shy!
Looks like I have to continue acting tougher and tougher.
Amidst his hidden happiness, an aunt pointed at the piece of red cloth at his private area and shockingly claimed, "Isn’t… Isn’t this the undergarment An Xiu gave to Xiao Rou? Little Brother, why are you wearing it?"
The undergarment, as the name implied, was an old-style fabric worn by ladies in the ancient times and was used to cover their chest area. It was also called a tube top.
As he heard the aunt explaining, he became momentarily shocked.
Everybody thought that it was strange of him and under their judgeful and disgusted expressions, he kept his pride and walked straight.
He used the patched-up blanket as a cape, enhancing his gusto and bravery by draping it over his shoulders like a big general .
After a difficult walk to the entrance, he went back to the area of Xiao Rou’s house. Xu Que’s face turned red as he stared down at himself. His mind was wandering to Xiao Rou’s beautiful appearance and petite figure.
Damn it! No, no, no. I can’t continue thinking of that. You sit back down now and stop standing.
Xu Que scolded himself in his mind and pressed down his "little brother" which was about to have a raging erection.
He quickly walked to a small pond in the distance, placed his clothes on the shore and splashed into the water.
He was washing the medicinal ointment off his body and at the same time, he was concentrating his thoughts back on the system.
He concentrated and opened the system. His personal stats were being shown to him again.
Host: Xu Que
Cultivation Stage: Foundation Building Stage 1 (Small Progress)
Experience Points: 200/2000
Acting Tough Points: 25 Points
Skill path: <Ancient Five Elemental Arts>, Beginner’s Level
Job class: None
Position: Consort Prince of the East Wilderness, Fire Country
"I only have 25 acting tough points. When can I achieve the intermediate level for my skill?" Xu Que sighed anxiously in his mind. At the same time, he opened the system store and viewed the cultivation techniques category.
He was stunned at what followed.
Previously, he didn’t notice the exchange goods in the system store that much since he thought that they were too expensive and couldn’t afford them yet.
But now, he realized that it wasn’t that the Skill path <Ancient Five Elemental Arts>’ intermediate manual was expensive, but was because of the high skill level requirement it needs. The high price was thus justifiable.
The system store categorized the skill paths into various classes, ranking from highest to lowest classes.
The Yellow-rank skills required 1-5 acting tough points.
The Black-rank skills required 5-10 acting tough points.
The Earth class skills required 10-20 acting tough points.
But for the Sky-rank skills, the required acting tough points were more than 20 points. All the way to as high as 200 points.
For the current Skill path he was training, the <Ancient Five Elemental Arts>, for the pages at Sky-rank, were of very premium value. The beginner to intermediate pages of this skill each require 100 acting tough points but when he reach the advanced writings, it costed a whole 200 acting tough points.
On top of that, there were other ranks besides the Sky, Earth, Black, and Yellow-rank skills but they were locked up and the names cannot be seen.
Xu Que tried to check those but instead received a system message, "Host’s privilege level not sufficient. Skills are not available to you yet."
"Interesting!"
He didn’t lose hope. Instead, he felt more excited and looked forward to seeing what this "Ultimate Acting Tough, Face-Slapping system" can do, knowing that there were even higher ranked skills than the Sky-rank.
He reopened the Yellow-rank skills and something came to his mind.
Although I am currently training this skill <Ancient Five Elemental Arts>, I am still lacking battle magic skills which will benefit me in combat. I have to find a suitable skill to train.
"Lone-Nine Swords? Fuck! This kind of skills are only Yellow-rank?" Xu Que became increasingly astonished as he was browsing the skill books.
But then he came into realization that this Lone-Nine Sword skill was a battle skill from the
World of Heroes but he was right here in the World of Immortals! The skill was no match for the immortals in this world.
He skipped the Yellow-rank skills and opened the Black-rank skills.
What caught his eye was a skill book <Eighteen-Dragon Palms> and was going for very cheap. It costed only 5 acting tough points, and its description stated that this skill required the use of internal forces but when combined with fire-element spiritual Qi, its potential can be fully utilized and its power was unmatched.
Xu Que’s eyelids jumped and became tempted. However, he suppressed his impulsiveness and continued browsing other skills for now.
"Dark-Ice Sword Art? Uh, nah… Name doesn’t feel aggressive enough."
"Flame Magic?"
"Triple-Flamed Blade Art?"
"Wood-Element Skill? Golden-Quake Fist?"
"Damn it! All the names aren’t aggressive enough! How can I act tough with those lame skill names?"
After a duration of continued browsing, Xu Que continued to shake his head in disapproval.
Although all the skills costed as much as <Eighteen-Dragon Palms>, he couldn’t care less about the extent of its combat prowess. He determined since the start that the name was the most important factor. The tougher the name of the skill, the better it was for acting tough.
As he continued browsing, Xu Que was still unable to find a satisfactory skill name. He might as well check the Earth class skills out.
"<<Golden-Lion Gold Shattering Roar>> , <Flame Devouring Wave>, the hell!"
Xu Que almost jumped out of the pool he was in.
My God! This system also sold skills from previously famous novels and each one costed only 10 acting tough points.
"Good. This is way too good!"
Xu Que was never this excited. He continued to browse the class and each name he saw excited him even further.
Most of the skills from the Earth class were from the main characters in novels. Damn, and even some skills of villains could be bought.

Selling price: 20 acting tough points
Book by book, Xu Que was dazzled and he opened his mouth at the sheer intensity of the descriptions.
There were so many kinds of skills from novels. Acting tough points must be gained. Any skills here would intimidate the opponent.
However, to Xu Que, choosing one or two of these skills amongst this lot was a chore.
Finally, he overcame his struggles and ultimately decided on a skill book. One which was a high-level tier from the Earth class. Its name was <Soaring Dragon’s Nine Transformations>!
Why didn’t he choose Flame-Devouring Wave or Six Corporeal Forms? Simple reason: not enough acting tough points!
After buying the skill, one must still buy the greatsword required. If not, the skill cannot be used in its entirety.
Previously, he saw these greatswords being sold in the premium bundle at the system store and the cheapest one went for 50 acting tough points. How could he afford it?
Lightning energy magic is even worse due to having the need to wait for Sky Lightning to descend to be able to train that skill. This was straight away rejected by Xu Que.
As a result, he had no choice but to buy the <Soaring Dragon Nine Transformations> skill as a defense skill. He thought that he will be able to get the other skill books sooner or later.
Of course, this Soaring Dragon Nine Transformations wasn’t just a casual pick. This skill was recognized by the system to be a high-level Earth class skill, costing at 20 acting tough points, explaining its possible potential to become powerful.
<<Soaring Dragon Nine Transformations>>
The dragon soars over the four seas, erupting in nine main transformations.
First form, energy is released. Obliterates the weak.
Second form, uses twice the amount of explosive energy. Obliterates the weak.
Third form, uses thrice the amount of explosive energy. Obliterates the weak.
Fourth form, uses four times the amount of explosive energy…
…
Ninth form, uses nine times the explosive energy, calls out the rain and the winds and summons the Nine Dragons. Destruction will be otherworldly.
Xu Que was clear that the nature of such power was unimaginable and a force to be reckoned with in any universe.
Hence, Xu Que chose this skill book as it is the best option for self-protection and repelling enemies, especially now that he wasn’t fully trained up yet.
"Ding! Do you want to exchange for <Soaring Dragon Nine Transformations> ?"
"Yes!" Xu Que responded.
"Swoosh!"
At the same time, a ray of golden light flashed past his eyes as he felt a chill down his spine.
When he reopened his eyes, he could feel the knowledge of a new skill. He felt reborn but it didn’t felt strange to him at all.
Opening up his character page, there were some changes:
Host : Xu Que
Cultivation Level: Foundation Building Stage Level 1 (Small progress)
Experience Points: 200/2000
Acting Tough Points: 5 points
Cultivation Technique:
<Ancient Five Elemental Arts>, Beginner Level
Ability: <Soaring Dragon Nine Transformations> (Progress 0%, Controls up to First form)
Job Class: None
Position: Consort Prince of the East Wilderness, Fire Country
Contently nodding, Xu Que rubbed his chin and felt that this 20 acting tough points was worth it.
For the 5 acting tough points left, he decided to not touch it for the time being. In the event he became injured again, he could use those points to add into his regeneration rate.
Once these were done, Xu Que proceeded to open his system package again, his heart was filled with anticipation
That Big Growth Gift bag. What exactly is in it?
