Chapitre 110: CHAPTER 110: Philly

　　The highway stretched out before me, a grey ribbon disappearing into the horizon. Julia, behind the wheel, belted out a Britney Spears classic, her voice a little off-key but full of heart. I tried to sing along, but the melody felt hollow on my tongue. My phone, nestled in my lap, remained stubbornly silent.

　　Disappointment, a dull ache in my chest, threatened to drown out the music. What had I been expecting, anyway? If anything, I was the one who was supposed to reach out to him with a message, but there was no way he'd even respond to me. I was supposed to be his girlfriend and I'd led him into a surprise engagement party with someone else.

　　I sent a quick text to Via, letting her know we were on our way to Philly. Then, I scrolled through my phone, sending my mum a picture of Julia and me grinning goofily in the car.
