Chapitre 42: Chapter 42: Kirito vs. Naruto
"Then, the first round begins!"
Following Genma's announcement, Naruto immediately jumped back, creating some distance. If it were any other opponent, he would test his strength, but against Kirito, he knew better. Close combat was out of the question.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Naruto quickly formed the necessary seals, summoning dozens of clones around him, hiding his real body in the process.
"If I can't win in a one-on-one fight, I'll fight in numbers!" Naruto declared as he and his clones pulled out kunai and shuriken, hurling them at Kirito in unison.
In the stands, Izumo and KoTetsu commented on the match.
"He's using the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Maybe Naruto has a chance after all."
"There's still a lot to see in this fight."
"Konoha Whirlwind!" Kirito responded to the barrage of ninja tools by launching a powerful whirlwind kick, scattering all the projectiles mid-air.
"Now's the chance!" All the Narutos shouted as they charged, hoping to overwhelm Kirito with sheer numbers.
"It's useless. Numbers mean nothing to Kirito," TenTen muttered to herself from the audience, holding Little Leopard in her arms. "In a head-on fight, no one stands a chance against him."
Let's warm up first, Kirito thought, his hands and feet beginning to glow with a snow-white aura.
As the first Naruto lunged with a punch, Kirito countered with a swift blow to the stomach, sending the clone flying and dispersing it into a puff of smoke. He followed up with a precise kick, eliminating several more clones in quick succession.
Bang, bang, bang! The arena echoed with the sounds of clones disappearing as Kirito darted through them like a scythe through grass, his agility and precision reducing Naruto's army in seconds.
"Damn it!" Naruto gritted his teeth as he realized only a handful of clones were left. He quickly strategized a new approach.
"His swarm tactic isn't working..."
"He's running out of clones. This could be bad for Naruto," Izumo observed, sharing his thoughts with KoTetsu.
"Take this!" one of the Narutos yelled, hurling a giant Fuma Shuriken toward Kirito.
Trying the same trick from the Zabuza fight? Kirito recognized the ploy instantly.
He somersaulted over the shuriken, caught it mid-air with ease, and redirected it back at an even faster speed. The clones scrambled to evade, but it was too late. The spinning weapon tore through them, reducing them to smoke. Even the Naruto disguised as the shuriken crashed to the ground and disappeared.
"Damn it! He saw through it so easily!" Naruto exclaimed, frustration mounting. With no clones left, he prepared to create more, forming seals rapidly.
Before he could finish, Kirito was already in front of him. With a swift punch to the chest, Kirito interrupted the jutsu and followed up with a kick to Naruto's stomach, sending him flying into the arena's wall.
"Naruto!" Sakura and Hinata cried out in unison, rising from their seats.
"Is he okay?" Shikamaru asked, watching Naruto embedded in the wall, spiderweb cracks radiating from the impact.
Coughing up blood, Naruto struggled to pull himself out of the wall. He collapsed onto the ground, clutching his stomach in pain. To his horror, he realized his chakra was sealed.
Time to add a little pressure to draw out the Nine-Tails' chakra, Kirito thought.
"Give up," Kirito said calmly. "I've sealed your chakra. Save your energy for the next Chunin Exam."
"No!" Naruto gritted his teeth and forced himself to his feet. "I won't give up! I'll defeat you and fight Sasuke next!"
Determined, he began refining chakra once again, despite the pain and the seal.
Even the so-called weakest can rise with determination, Kirito thought, recalling Naruto's match against Neji in the original timeline.
"Ahhh!" Naruto roared as a violent surge of chakra erupted around him. The oppressive energy shocked Genma, who hadn't anticipated this transformation.
Even in the stands, the Third Hokage recognized the chakra. "This... It's the Nine-Tails' chakra. When did Naruto learn to control it?"
The malevolent chakra spread through the arena, healing Naruto's injuries and forming a protective "cloak" around his body. Feeling the surge of power, Naruto exclaimed, "This is it! Let's go!"
In a blur of speed, Naruto appeared behind Kirito and threw a punch aimed at his blind spot.
Boom! Without turning, Kirito countered with a sharp elbow to Naruto's waist, embedding him into the wall again.
"Damn it! Even this doesn't work?" Naruto muttered, dragging himself out of the hole, his resolve wavering.
"I can't give up!" Naruto yelled, summoning a massive wave of shadow clones.
The arena filled with thousands of Narutos, spilling over walls and even into the audience's view.
"How much chakra does he have to summon this many clones?" Izumo exclaimed.
"It's pointless," TenTen muttered, shaking her head.
"Take this, Kirito! Naruto Two Thousand Combo!" The wave of clones surged toward Kirito like a tidal wave.
At that moment, Kirito unleashed his trump card. A white frost spread from his position, freezing everything it touched. The clones, the walls, the pillars—everything was encased in ice as if the arena had been transported to the Arctic.
The spectators shivered in their seats, rubbing their arms for warmth.
"Naruto..." Hinata whispered, praying for his safety.
In the arena, Naruto stood alone, the remnants of his Nine-Tails "cloak" flickering weakly. His arms were covered in frost, and his breath came out in visible puffs.
"It's over," Kirito said, appearing before Naruto. With a swift punch to the stomach, he absorbed the last of the Nine-Tails' chakra, leaving Naruto unconscious in his arms.
"First round winner: Kirito!" Genma declared.
