Chapitre 35: Their Upbringing..
"Aaahh!" Olivia woke up with a splitting headache. She held her head and rubbed it hard but the pain did not go away.
"You are finally awake!" The voice only gave her more headache. For once, Olivia wanted some silence around. "What happened last night? What did you say to your highness?"
Last night! His highness! Her eyes widened at once. But what welcomed her was not the face of Agatha but a large tray of Macarons.
Macrons? She vividly remembered eating them to curb her nervousness.
"Yes, his highness had sent them for you. Why? What was the occasion and what happened last night?" Olivia stared at the macrons as if she was still in a dream. She had planned so much seduction for this chance.
How she had planned to convince him to take her to the palace and then reject later. Her speech, her planning!
"What exactly happened there!" Agatha frowned when she noticed her dazed look.
"Are you even listening to me? You.."
"Do not be so harsh on her, Agatha. The girl had just woken up." Olivia stiffened at the voice. She turned but did not raise her head as Oriana entered the room with a smile.
"Here, you would need it, Oli!" Olivia stared at the cup emitting steam in front of her.
"Sister! I swear I didn't do it intentionally. I was just nervous and ate a macron there. It was delicious and then.. I.. i do not remember anything." Olivia wanted to cry. Oriana would kill her now.
In her last life, Edward had accepted to take her to the royal palace and let her participate in the competition of his wife, the second princess.
"It is alright, Oli! You must have been so nervous. But I must say I was surprised when you walked out of the room in his arms. I was only relieved when he told me that you slept while watching the drama. You were in his arms, Oli! And he did not leave you alone. He held you in his arms and even carried you to the carriage.
Everyone watched the scene unfolding with a stunned gaze. It was more dramatic than the show." Oriana chuckled with gleaming eyes. Olivia's heart beat rose. Edward was not a kind man. He was a shrewd person who only knew his benefit.
Everyone thought that he was collecting concubines because of his lust and playful nature. But he was collecting allies, allies that supported him in the war against his brother.
He was not going to win it in the end.
"Olivia.." Olivia blinked when she felt the warm hand on her sister on her shoulders. "Do not think too much. Though we did not get success, we have not failed too. I am sure we will find a way to get more of his attention." Olivia could only nod when her sister smiled warmly at her.
"Now, I have some important matters to deal with. Are you going to meet Leo's governess? She had asked for you in the morning. But I'll let you sleep." If anyone heard her, they would believe that Olivia was a lazy woman. A hardworking duchess was serving and handling her lazy commoner sister.
Such a perfect image for the public's eyes.
"Mrs Maybelline? She was looking for me?" Olivia frowned and left the room at once.
"Hey, wait there. You have not changed your clothes yet! This girl, would she ever learn?" Agatha scolds in a loud voice looking irked by Olivia. Oriana just laughed as Olivia left.
The image of the second prince holding Olivia in his arms possessively flashed past her eyes.
"Let her be! If her wild charms could attract the prince, it is worth nurturing them."

"It has been a whole day. How could you not memorize it yet? My lord, I will be compelled to punish you if.." the elder woman paused in her scolding when the door was suddenly pushed open.
Her stiffened shoulders relaxed a bit when she noticed it was only Olivia.
Olivia's gaze fell on Abi sitting in the corner holding the book tightly. Leo was standing near Mrs Maybeline. She had raised her cane. One second late, and she would have hit Leo.
Olivia took hasty steps and stood in front of Leo making the governess frown.
"Did something happen, madam! I heard you were looking for me." the woman raised her nose with arrogance glaring at Abi..
"You have spoiled the kids. Only yesterday, the young miss had accepted her tasks but now she is telling me that she was busy preparing a birthday gift for the elder master. So she did not get the chance to learn it completely." Abi shrunk at the mention of her name and hid her face behind the books.
"And young lord, he is learning it perfectly well. But the moment I punished the young miss, he stopped reading the book. Since then, it had been a whole day yet he did not learn a single word. He is forcing me.. Ha! I can not understand why he is wasting his time and the efforts of his sister when everyone knows.."
"What does everyone know about, Mrs Maybelline?" Olivia cut the woman coldly. She could have accepted if she had complained more about their studies but was insulting her precious niece!
"I mean… the lady is slow in her learning." Maybelline covered her words at the last moment and forced a smile on her face.
"Miss Olivia. I have two more families. But I have never had any trouble teaching them. Their upbringing is.."
"Are you questioning the noble blood of Duke Aykroyd?" the woman frowned again. Olivia had always been submissive in the past. If Maybelline would complain, she would offer her a holiday and teach the children herself instead.
Maybelline had already promised her husband that she would return home early. But instead of apologizing, Olivia was questioning her as if she was at fault.
"I am definitely not blaming them, My lady. You are twisting my words. I only want them to study hard."
