Chapitre 20: Ch. 20 - A High-Class Devil!

The slap came unexpected even for me. I can see Dimitre seething with anger whoever slapped him. Speaking of slapping him, I too, wonder who can slap such a guy, whoever he or she is, I'd give them a round of applause.

"How dare you slap m-" Before he could finish his words, his words came to a halt inside his throat as his eyes widened in surprise and fear.

Fear? I know that the person who slapped him is on my side, so who is it?

"Is that how you talk to someone above you, you lowly Sitri filth." The voice was a male, prideful and full of contempt towards Dimitre in front of me.

Who could blow off Dimitre's arrogance?

I quickly turned around and saw a middle-aged man with black hair, wearing something that looks like a mushed up noble attire and a knight's armor, making him look like a devout King who fights with his subjects. His eyes were purple with a hint of blackness inside, as for his expression, it was cold and monotone, like a Lion who wasn't amused by a Tiger's threat.

"L-Lord Zekram! I-I apologize for my unsightly manner! It's just that this lowly devil here, is insubordinate and made me angry, it was his fault!"

This motherfucker...

I quickly clenched my fist out of anger and faced the man on my left, preparing to defend my side, however I was interrupted.

"Oh really, because from what I just saw, your anger was unjust, to me, it simply looks like you were angry because your spotlight was stolen by someone else, am I wrong?" Oh thank god, he did not believe this fool's words.

"L-Lord Zekram, I-I was jus-" It seems like Dimitre has run out of lies to say, now that he was caught lying.

"Spare me from your pathetic excuses," The man known as Zekram spoke with a cold tone that even I could feel, although the words weren't directed to me, "I don't have the patience for your twisted lies or I might just cut off your tongue."

I could see Dimitre bowing his head in shame and masked anger.

"Now scram!" With that being said, Dimitre quickly unfurled his wings and flew away, not before giving me a glare that seemed as if he wanted to piece my skull.

Oh well, at least the situation didn't escalete. I always hate that type of people.

Right, I still have to thank my benefactor, he just saved my ass after all.

"Allow me to give you my thanks, Lord Zekram..." I faced Lord Zekram and bowed my head, all while using my magical senses to see how strong this guy is.

However, much to my surprise, I sensed nothing. Like I'm looking down at a dark and empty well. How is this even possible? Is this why I didn't detect his presence?

"It's fine, young boy, It's just rare to see such a young prodigy like you. Able to defeat 50 exorcists alone is not something a normal Mid-class devil is capable off," I saw Lord Zekram waving his hand in dismissal of my gratitude, "I was just wondering about those fancy magic spells you just used against their Chief Exorcist, those orange circles that you used to block his attacks."

Oh? He's curious about the Mystic Arts? Well, it won't hurt to tell him some about it.

"Those were my self created spells, Lord Zekram. I call them Mystic Art Spells."

"How...fascinating." Zekram carressed his chin, deep in his thoughts before continuing.

"You see, I have been watching the entire fight."

His words quickly shook to the core, the entire fight? Including the fight inside the forest? if it is then I was caught. Caught sparing the humans when I should've killed them as I'm a devil.

"Lord Zekram, I-"

"Hahahaha! Don't be nervous, young man, I don't bite. I was curious about why you came to such a decision." Zekram laughed, his eyes settling over me as he asked a question, referring to me sparing those Exorcists.

Should I tell the truth? But I don't know who this man is. If he's friendly or foe. If he's a foe, he could've just outright scolded me or even kill me if that's how they handle the case of sparing enemies in battle. However, considering he didn't do that, then he's either the former or a scheming foe who has meticulous plans for me, perhaps to blackmail me for what I did.

Despite the initial nervousness, I came to a decision.

"I spared them because I see no use in it other than pointless fame and attention from trouiblesome individuals." I then stared at his deep purple eyes, trying to gauge his reaction toward my answer. If my answer proved him as a foe, I would be left with no choice but to use my portal to escape and disappear from the face of the Earth, find myself a hidden place to live and gather strength.

"..." After what seemed like hours of continuous silence, it was finally broken by a laugh from Lord Zekram himself.

"HaHaHaHaHaHa! I knew you would say that!" Wait really?

Albeit surprised by his unexpected reaction, I sighed in relief, well it looks like I'm staying a bit longer in the Underworld.

"Say, how about you come with me for a while? I have something to offer to you." Now, what would be your response when an unknown man, a stranger came and tried inviting you to follow him, the obvious answer is to refuse right?

But do I have a right to refuse him? I can't detect his strength so I can't determine if I can fight him, he's like the final boss or one of the most overpowered side characters in fiction.

i still have to try though.

"Can I refuse?"

"Of course you can, but this will be the last time I'll invite you, and you'll miss out on a big opportunity." A strange gleam flashed in his purple bead eyes. Goddammit, now you got me curious.

"....Before I accept, can I at least know what it is about?" I gritted my teeth, whatever this man is hinting about, it got me hooked. A great opportunity he says. Back in my life, people always use to say that no matter what, take the opportunity in front of you.

"Hoh? Getting curious are we? Hmm....Let's just say, its something that involves the future of devils."

Future of the Devils? As much as I don't want to see myself as a devil, I'm physically one and I'm left with no choice but to participate in the society of devils as one.

And besides, no doubt this Zekram has certain status and influence, capable of making Dimitre, a member of the Sitri family, scared shitless.

One of the most important things when you want to rise in power is to form connections. This one is already a given fact to certain people such as capitalists and stuff.

"How is it? Did I finally caught your attention?" Lord Zekram spoke with an amused expression, interrupting my thoughts.

"I....agree." If this Zekram wants to harm me, he could've done so at the start, he doesn't need to resort to schemes and stuff.

What it means is that he truly seeks me out with a certain intention. And that said intention is something I'll discover later.

***

With a teleportation circle, we immediately reappeared at a different location. We were no longer surrounded by trees and grasses. Instead, we're now at what I assume to be some sort of meeting room. A round table in the middle of the room, along with chairs counting up to six with each chair bearing intricate yet unknown symbols, however one certain chair caught my eye as it bears a familiar symbol.

A combination of a fan and a necklace intertwined together.

The Sitri symbol!

Why is Serafall's family symbol crafted on a chair's backrest? Does Serafall even know that their family symbol is being used here, should she sue this guy for plagiarism? I should tell her about this later.

As for the room itself, it was illuminated by the soft touch of candles' glow. This reminds me of the Roundtable Hold in Elden Ring, god I miss that game.

"Come, sit." I saw Lord Zekram sitting on a chair with a symbol that looks like a trident facing horizontal, making a letter 'B' shape. I wonder which Devil Pillar he belongs to, looking at the symbol, it definitely starts in letter B.

There are a few Pillars whose name starts with the letter B, such as Barbatos, Buer, Beleth, Botis, Bathin, Bune, Berith, Bifrons, Balam, Belial and Bael. Now which among these does Zekram belongs to?

"It seems like I haven't properly introduced myself yet, my name is Zekram Bael." There goes the answer to my question.

"As for the reason why I invited you here is to propose a contract with you, I want you to be my ally for my Anti-Satan faction." Contract? Faction? Is this guy some sort of revolutionary leader or something?

"You must be curious about everything, don't worry, I'll explain everything to you."

"You see, I have a vision, a vision about the future of the devil race caused by this damned war, I'm a hundred percent that the Satans will not win this war and they will die sooner or later. However, their heirs are the ones I'm worried about, no doubt they will succeed their parent's thrones as Satans and with their personalities, they will not stop the war and instead, resume it with an even great fervor. " He stopped for a while, as if waiting for me to register his words before continuing.

"A Civil War, I can smell a civil war coming in the future and as someone who only wants the best of the devil race, I want to avoid such thing from happening. So, I did what I had to do. I created the Anti-Satan faction and invited a few people who shares the same vision as I am." He said, his hand gesturing towards the chairs surrounding the round table.

"They're currently on their way here as I set up a meeting for today." I see what this means now, so these chairs are some devils who belongs in their respective devil families.

"Although our faction is still quite small, but soon, we'll be bigger and stronger than even the Satan Faction." A detemined and ambitious gleam flashed within his eyes as Lord Zekram leaned towards me.

"Then there's you, a recently turned High-class devil who used to be a human." Righ as he finished his words, I already conjured a portal as fast as I can, quickly attempting to escape, however, his words stopped me.

"Stop. I apologize for being blunt but I don't mean any harm towards you, nor do I intend to use this information to harm you." I slowly turned around and faced him, trying to detect any lies or malice in his eyes.

"How did you know about me being a former human? Who told you? And why did you call me a High-class devil?" I clenched my fists, I was betrayed by either Serafall or Ajuka, either way, whoever told this guy, I swear to god, I'll hunt them down for the rest of my life.

"No one, I figured it out by myself and a certain servant of mine, after all, even if you turned into a devil, your smell still have the distinct smell of a human. As for why I called you High-class devil, why don't you take a look for yourself?" After he finished his words, I dove towards my magical senses and used it on myself before my eyes widened in surprise.

He wasn't lying, my Demonic Energy capacity has multiplied along with its potent and thickness. I am now a certified High-class devil, same level as Gideon and Emilea Sitri!

Which means I am now one step away from turning into the strongest devil class, the Ultimate-class devil!
