'Shit! Did I somehow manage to open a portal to the past? And what does she mean by Devil Creation? What kind of year is that?' So many questions quickly flashed in Chamber's mind, yet all remained unanswered.
"Hmm? Why do you seem so pale?" Noticing the look on Chamber's face, Serafall expressed her concern towards him.
"What am I?"
"What do you mean? You don't know what you are?" Serafall raised an eyebrow in concern.
"Why do I feel different? I feel…stronger, healthier, and my sight seems so sharp?" Chamber repeated but with more clearance, referring to the changes that he felt when he woke up compared to before.
"Ohhh you meant that. I don't know how to break this down to you but like I said earlier I used a thing called Evil Piece to bring you back from the brink of death. And when I said by bringing you back, I meant turning you into a devil like me."
Thud!
Serafall had no idea what happened as she only felt that the human-turned-devil's heartbeat in front of her had increased followed by the stunned expression on his face.
"Look, I know it sounds bad but believe me, it's not. The advantages far outweigh the opposite." Seeing that she got Chamber's attention, Serafall knew that the teen in front of her seemed to be interested more in the advantages so she started with that.
"First of all, as you said earlier, you feel stronger, healthier, and what was the last? Sharper? That's because by turning into a devil, you also inherit our traits." Sensing the confusion, Serafall clarified.
"In case you don't know, even the weakest Devil could take on 50 armed humans. So imagine how strong you are now considering your strength was around Low-class devil before you turned into one."
'My strength was Low-class devil? So the Devils have some kind of tiering system for their strength?' Chamber concluded in his mind.
"And now that you have turned into a Devil, I'd say your strength doubled, and probably on the threshold of Mid-class Devil, though that doesn't mean you can fight one though. A Mid-class Devil is slightly valued in the army and sometimes considered as the top minions aside from the High-class Devils."
"High-class Devils?" Chamber's ears perked up upon hearing that there was a higher level in their strength system.
"Oh, curious are we? If you are, then behold! You are currently looking at one of the High-class devils in existence!" Puffing up her chest in pride, Serafall crossed her arms under her large bosom and raised her head as she closed her eyes, bearing a smug expression on her face as if saying 'Praise me, human!'.
Unbeknownst to her, Chamber simply just looked at her with an indifferent face.
'This is a High-class devil? Where are the red or black horns? The long pointy tail? Red skin? Is she really a devil like the people described?' Chamber's face twitched several times as he sighed in disappointment, which was unfortunately heard by Serafall.
"W-Why do you sound like you're disappointed?" Serafall pointed.
"It's nothing, Ms. Serafall. It's just I didn't expect that a devil would actually look charming and beautiful instead of the scary and buff devils that people described your species as." Chamber closed his eyes and shook his head as he casually replied.
It may be a casual reply to Chamber however, to Serafall, two words kept ringing in her ears.
Charming. Beautiful.
Before she knew it, a blush crept up to her cheeks which Serafall quickly hid before Chamber resumed his attention to her.
"Hm?" Noticing that Serafall turned her back on her, Chamber got confused.
'Shit! Did I say something wrong? Maybe I was being racist and she got offended! Goddamm- ah!' Just as Chamber was about to go and apologize, pain suddenly assaulted his entire body, as if lightning just zapped him in a single second.
Left shivering and mitigating the pain, Chamber was unable to apologize as Serafall finally turned around after successfully calming herself down.
"Huh? What happened to you?" Worries filled her face as she crouched in front of Chamber and helped him sit back down, making him lean his back on a wall.
"N-Nothing, I was just about to apologize to you for coming out as rude and racist about your species when suddenly my entire body was zapped by lightning. Please don't tell me the disadvantage of being a devil is getting zapped randomly." Finally recovering and getting a breather, Chamber slowly explained.
"Getting zapped? Ooh! You mean 'that' kind of zap! Did you just try to mention Big G's name in your mind?" Suddenly, Serafall's confusion was replaced by realization as she slapped her forehead for being dumb and asked.
"Big G? What do you mean? Who's that?" It was Chamber's turn to be confused this time.
"The Big G from the Bible. You know, creator of Heaven and Earth and stuff. I'm sure you know who I'm talking about."
"Big G from the Bible? You mean God-gah!" Chamber was once again left shivering and trying to mitigate the pain in his body.
"Yeah, I wouldn't say his name if I were you. It's kind of a Devil thing to have a weakness towards anything that is Holy and his name is considered as such." With an apologetic look on her face, Serafal wryly smiled as she explained.
"So whether you utter his name out loud or even in your thoughts, you would get touched by his Holy light which you now know, is painful and feels like you were being burned for a single second."
"Huff! Huff! That's bullshit!" After finally recovering, Chamber leaned himself back on the wall as he cursed.
"I know. But it is what it is."
Serafall just shrugged her shoulders, as if expecting that kind of reaction from him, after all, that was also her reaction when she mentioned God's name during her 10th birthday when she wished for the Satans to defeat God and was left shivering in pain on the floor that day.
'What kind of logic is this? I don't remember MCU or even the Marvel comics having this kind of history in the past!'
In fact, Chamber was right, because if this is indeed part of the history in the past, he would've known considering the Kamar-Taj library has access to several diaries of ancient sorcerers starting from 100 BC to the Present time.
But there was no mention of Evil Pieces or Devils being able to turn humans into Devils through a thing called Evil Piece. They didn't even mention that there could be devils as beautiful and charming as Serafall.
Either they're lying about the Devils which is unlikely or he's not truly in the past of his world but traveled to another again!
'That means I died, right? But that's impossible, I still wear the same robe, not to mention there's a bloody hole on my robe, which means what happened to me earlier is real but it didn't exactly killed me.' Once again, Chamber was once again left with so many questions in his mind.
"Anyways, where was I? Oh right, the advantages. Well aside from the increase in strength especially at night, you'd also live long enough to outlive an entire generation of a human family. Isn't that amazing? From what I heard, you humans always covet for the so-called immortality, right?"
"You're…..right." Just as Chamber wanted to refute her words about humans coveting Immortality, suddenly he remembered about the Ancient One, who coveted immortality not to live forever but so she could keep protecting Earth until she found a suitable successor.
"Heh." Serafall once again bore a smug face. As if telling Chamber, 'I knew it!'.
"And the disadvantages?" Upon asking, the smugness on her face fell apart as quickly as it appeared.
"W-Well, the disadvantages aren't that bad. Just a few like the one I mentioned earlier, like the weakness to anything holy…"
"…And?" Sensing something amiss, Chamber pressed on.
"…And you'd be hated by quite a few people. I-It's not like it's bad." Serafall smiled awkwardly under the blank expression of Chamber.
"Do you mind elaborating on that? What do you mean by 'few', more specifically who?" Chamber leaned forward and squinted his eyes.
"Like….everyone? Aside from ourselves, everyone in the world hates us. From what I know though, every single faction in the world used to hate the Big G of the Bible for stealing believers and stepping on their territories just to spread their belief. But ever since Lucifer rebelled and turned into a Devil. The hate shifted from the Big G to Devils."
"So what you're trying to say is, in exchange for personal power, I'll become an enemy of the entire world?"
"Yes?"
"How about you then? What do you gain from all of this? Surely there's no such thing as a free lunch in this world, right?" Chamber crossed his arms, eyeing the charming girl in front of him in suspicion.
"Free lunch? What's lunch?" She tilted her head and asked out of confusion.
"Sigh…What I meant is that there's nothing in this world that comes for free. So what do you get in return for turning me into a devil and giving me all these benefits and drawbacks."
"What do I get? Nothing I think? The piece was just created to turn a human into a devil and it's still a prototype, so aside from me, no one else in this world can turn someone into a Devil, so consider yourself as the first reincarnated Devil!"
"Now, I don't know what you want and I don't think you'd appreciate the fact that you owe me for your life but the best decision you can make for now is to follow me back in the Underworld. The human world is the territory of almost every single faction and we, the devils have a very small and weak influence here."
"If you stay here all alone, trust me, even with your strength, you won't last a single week before an Archangel descends from Heaven and kills you."
Once she was done speaking, Chamber was left contemplating his future decisions.
As a matter of fact, Chamber kinds of agree with Serafall. As a former human, he knows how hated the Devils are and since he's now one of them, it would only be proper for him to blend in among them.
But the real question is. Why can't he just turn back into a human and live happily ever after?
And so, Chamber asked the same question to Serafall.
"I'm not sure about that. Ajuka never told me about that. Maybe we should go and ask him about it."
'So that still leaves to me going to the Underworld.' Chamber muttered to himself, not liking the fact that he was going to a place that he considered Hell since that's what the Bible says about the place of the Devils.
"Lead the way." With a final sigh, he finally gave the 'Okay' sign to Serafall who jumped in excitement!
"Alright then, let's go! I have so many places to show you! And I'm sure Ajuka and Sirzechs would absolutely love to meet you!" Without thinking about it, Serafall grabbed Chamber's hand and cast the common teleportation spell.
Soon, a bright light blue circle with various symbols appeared on their feet, making Chamber flinch in surprise and wariness.
"Don't worry, it's just a teleportation circle. It's for faster travel." Serafall, noticing the cautious look on Chamber's face, assured him.
Composing himself, he braced himself as the teleportation circle moved and ascended, swallowing both of them before the teleportation circle disappeared into particles.
***
Never once did Chamber blink during the process as he was curious at how the so-called 'Teleportation' works.
Well, now he knows. It's just like entering a portal except that you don't enter the portal. The portal enters you instead.
Looking around in curiosity and suspicion, the first thing Chamber noticed was that they were outside instead of indoors.
How did he know?
He could see the moon in the sky. Except that this moon and the sky are entirely purple, coating the entire place in purple also.
"Welcome to the underworld, Chamber. You're the first human or formerly human to enter the underworld. Currently, we're in my family place, the Sitri Territory."
