Moreover, Shahkulu Melilanoğlu Gazi Bey, the ruler of the Karnıyarık Castle near Tabriz, had also rebelled against the Safavid state. However, Shah Abbas had not anticipated that the Ottomans, using the excuse of unpaid tribute, would react with such speed and strength. In his mind, all of these troubles pointed back to the actions of Öküz Kara Mehmed Pasha.
Shah Abbas, sighing deeply, sensed that the Ottomans' recent bold actions were driven by Mehmed Pasha's ambitions and aggressive strategies. The Ottoman army, boldly advancing under Mehmed Pasha's leadership, reached the walls of Revan, leaving Shah Abbas torn between defending the Safavid throne and countering the relentless Ottoman advance.
