"Ooh... I see what going on here." Stacy wiggled her brows at her bestie.
"What?" Amelia narrowed her gaze at Stacy.
"Nothing. Just me fooling around."
"You better." Amelia scolded her.
"So how did he come into the picture?" Stacy asked.
Amelia narrated her ordeal in the hands of her abductor right to the point when she stabbed the horny bastard before Stacy interrupted her.
"You killed a man!" Stacy cupped her mouth with both her hands, her widened eyes almost bulging out of her socket.
"Yes, and I will do it all over again to any son of a b*tch who thinks about getting into my pants without my consent," Amelia swore.
"Girl, that was badass of you. You know me and my phobia of blood. I would have passed out after stabbing him."
"Not when you have more bastards around with the same sickening intent." Amelia felt a bit relieved, baring her heart to her best friend.
"That's so true. So how did you get out of the hell hole."
"I escaped in the dead man's car." Amelia continued with her narration without Stacy interrupting her until she got to the end.
"Oh my world, Amelia. I'm so sorry." Stacy felt guilty for not recognizing that Amelia was the strange number that called her that fateful night. "I should have known that you were in danger. I'm such a lousy friend." She bowed her head, sobbing.
"It's okay, Stacy." Amelia started consoling her softhearted friend. "At least I'm still alive."
"Oh, Amelia. God bless Mr Anderson for being an angel and a knight in shining armor. I'm forever grateful and indebted to him for rescuing you. Imagine if he hadn't been there that fateful night. Gwen and all those responsible for this would have succeeded in their evil scheme."
"Yeah..." Amelia paused, lost in her thought. She felt guilty knowing that she had not really thanked Blaze for rescuing her. She owed him her life and gratitude. But so far, she had done nothing but piss him off and get on his bad side.
"Amelia," Stacy called softly cutting into her thoughts.
Amelia looked up her eyes gloomy.
"What are we going to do now?" Stacy asked feeling a bit lost. "The man who told me to stop searching for you after your family allowed Gwen to take your place, said that your life is in danger. And I have reasons to believe that he is right."
"Why do you say that?" Amelia asked.
"Your trust fund, Amelia," Stacy said feeling a bit lost and hopeless. "Your family have taken everything, dear. They are not only rich but very powerful now. They can buy anyone's silence. They can make anyone disappear with just a click of their finger. They already lied to the world that you are currently on honeymoon with Jerry, while Gwen sits on top of all those billions. I don't think your sister will ever want you to return from that fake honeymoon. If she tried to kill you before to steal that jerk of a man called Jerry, she will try to harm you again just to keep your wealth to herself."
Amelia climbed out of bed deep in thought.
"Then I will have to become more powerful than them," Amelia said as a crazy idea flashed across her mind, her eyes glistening with determination.
"How?" Stacy asked wondering what was running in her friend's mind.
"I will tell you later. Just help me tell Mr Anderson that I would like to speak with him."
"You mean, Mr hottie hottie." Stacey wiggled her brows at her friend animatedly.
"Be serious, Stacy." A crease appeared on Amelia's forehead.
"Okay, I'm going." Stacy stood up from the bed, smiling sheepishly. She strolled over to the door and opened it, mischievous glint lacing her beaming eyes. Sticking out her head while holding Amelia's gaze, she called.
"Mr hottie..."
"Stacy!" Amelia called in a rebuking tone, her cheeks blushing really hard.
"I'm just pulling your legs, Amy. He is not here." Stacy blew kisses to her before leaving the ward and shutting the door behind her.
Five minutes later, after pacing up and down in her room, slightly limping, while rehearsing all she was going to say, Amelia felt her heart jump into her mouth when the door suddenly opened. She had not heard him approach the door.
Her fiery gaze shifted to him, and her expression hardened.
'Can't he at least knock?' Amelia was slightly disgusted.
"I thought you wanted to see me?" Blaze said in a deadpan tone, wondering what he had done this time to warrant her scowl. It felt good to see that she was no longer crying. But then, the brat was simply annoying even when she was looking pitiful.
"Umm...yes..." Amelia tried to rearrange her scrunched face, stifling her irritation. She limped back to her bed and sat down in a lady-like manner
Blaze found this captivating, especially when she tucked her loosed hair behind her reddened ears, exposing her vulnerability.
"Please..." Amelia gestured to the seat beside her bed.
Blaze released a sigh as he shut the door behind him and walked up to her, holding her somewhat subtle gaze.
His intimidating presence and his commanding aura made Amelia feel small and insignificant. She adjusted herself, sitting up straight to match his dominating aura.
Maintaining an unreadable expression, Blaze calmly took his seat opposite her, his cold gaze never leaving hers.
"Ahem..." Amelia was forced to break eye contact with him as it was making her feel uneasy.
"Mr Anderson..." She started softly, trying her possible best not to sneer at him. "I never got to thank you for saving my life from that car crash and taking care of me afterwards. You are a g-good man and I hope I'm able to repay you someday. Thank you for everything." Amelia heaved a sigh of relief as she finally met his chilly gaze.
Blaze chuckled inwardly as he watched this interesting young lady before him. It felt as if someone was pointing a gun at her head and asking her to thank him. The way she hesitated before describing him as good meant she still saw him as an asshole. Nevertheless, he felt his heart skip a beat when she looked at him again with those reddened and sad beautiful eyes. It filled him with an animalistic instinct to punish all those who had dared to hurt her.
Softening his gaze a little, Blaze was about to respond to her short appreciation speech when she continued speaking.
"I know this may not be the right time to ask of a favour from you, seeing all you have done for me. But I don't know who else to turn to at this critical moment. All those I once called my family and friends have betrayed me and I intend to get even with them."
"Tell me what you want. If it is within my power, I will do it." Blaze said, feeling his cold heart reaching out for this annoying beauty.
"It's within your power," Amelia said confidently. "It goes like this." She released a heavy sigh, breaking eye contact with him again to hide her embarrassment.
"Marry me."
