The four-hour daily task yielded a total of 8 gold coins, enough for the two of them to stay at the Continental Hotel for two days.
Lin Feng had never been to a Continental Hotel, so he didn't know where it was, but after he exchanged for the living rights at the Continental Hotel, a map showing its relative location appeared on his system.
The map wasn't particularly detailed; it only displayed their current coordinates and a red dot, with no streets marked.
Lin Feng moved slowly toward the red dot, navigating through alleys and streets.
Caitlyn was starting to feel a bit confused.
Where were they headed?
After about half an hour of walking, the crowd gradually thinned, and Lin Feng arrived in a remote area of Zaun.
If he walked any further, he might not even see a shadow of a person.
Caitlyn quietly raised her guard, alert to everything around them.
Just then, Lin Feng suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"We're here!"
They both looked ahead and found themselves somewhat stunned.
Wasn't that just a wall?
Lin Feng noticed Caitlyn's stiff demeanor and felt a bit embarrassed himself. He looked down at the system's indicator.
This was the right place, wasn't it?
He tried touching the wall, and at that moment, something miraculous happened.
The wall in front of him appeared like a holographic projection; Lin Feng's finger seemed to pass right through it.
Caitlyn was momentarily stunned.
Magic?
From Zaun?
Before she could process what was happening, Lin Feng waved her over.
"Come on in!"
Without waiting for Caitlyn to hesitate, Lin Feng pulled her through the wall.
Once inside, Caitlyn was completely dumbfounded.
The interior was entirely different from the outside.
Unlike any city-state she had ever seen, including Zaun and Piltover, the architectural style here was unique.
The lobby was bustling with people, even more extravagant than Piltover's council hall. Almost everyone wore very formal attire, which Caitlyn had never seen before.
Only Lin Feng recognized this clothing style as a suit, which was somewhat similar to what the nobles of Piltover wore, but still had significant differences. The architectural style also felt familiar to Lin Feng; it was a modern European style.
Everything was just as Lin Feng had imagined a Continental Hotel would be, except for the many unfamiliar faces from other realms.
There were familiar faces from Piltover, and also some minority races that resided in Zaun.
Caitlyn was completely amazed; she had never known such a place existed in Zaun.
"Miss, do you need assistance?"
A waitress approached Caitlyn with a warm smile.
Caitlyn finally snapped back to reality.
"N-No, I'm fine."
With that, she quickly pulled her hood lower, unsure of whom she was hiding from, and hurried to follow Lin Feng.
Lin Feng arrived at the front desk, a bit disappointed to find that it wasn't the familiar face of the big boss.
"Welcome to the Continental Hotel. How may I assist you, sir?"
The man at the front desk politely inquired.
Lin Feng had no doubt about the hotel's capabilities.
"Two rooms. We need to stay here for two days."
Lin Feng took out eight gold coins from the system; the coins were materialized as physical objects within the hotel.
Caitlyn stared at Lin Feng's every move, still in a daze.
The unfamiliar coins, the strange environment, yet Lin Feng moved with the ease of an old acquaintance, executing everything smoothly.
The front desk staff accepted the coins, inspected them, and handed Lin Feng two room keys.
"Rooms 723 and 722, sir. Would you like clothes for laundering?"
"No, thank you."
Lin Feng nodded, took the room keys, and called out to the dazed Caitlyn as he headed toward the elevator.
"Have a pleasant stay," the front desk staff said, returning to their usual duties, ready to assist the next guest.
But just as Lin Feng stepped into the elevator, he heard a hoarse, weak voice.
"Same as always, prepare the experimental venue and equipment for me."
Lin Feng peeked through the elevator door and suddenly froze.
Just as he left, another person entered.
A tall, thin man.
The man was bald, with a gaunt face, and the common pallor seen in Zaun residents due to a lack of sunlight was evident on him.
His slightly hunched figure suggested malnutrition or anorexia, leaving his face looking haggard.
But what concerned Lin Feng the most was that the man had one eye that seemed completely blind, and his mouth was entirely covered by a bandage that began at the tip of his nose.
Lin Feng instinctively tried to stop the elevator doors from closing, but it was too late; the elevator began to ascend slowly.
He quickly pressed the button for the nearest floor, and the elevator stopped at the third floor, yet continued to rise.
"What's wrong?"
Caitlyn noticed Lin Feng's unusual behavior.
Lin Feng couldn't explain, so he ran downstairs, and Caitlyn had no choice but to follow.
In less than a minute, Lin Feng reached the ground floor again, but the one-eyed man with the bandaged face had vanished without a trace.
"Do you need assistance, sir?"
The front desk staff inquired politely again.
Lin Feng urgently asked,
"Where did that man go? The one with the bandage and the blind eye?"
The front desk staff looked a bit puzzled.
"Could you describe..."
"The one with the bandage, the blind eye!"
The staff hesitated for a moment before saying,
"I'm sorry, sir. The Continental Hotel protects the privacy of every guest."
Caitlyn's nerves tightened slightly, her hand discreetly moving to her rifle.
But at that moment, Lin Feng subtly gestured for Caitlyn not to draw her gun.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Feng said,
"Alright, then please bring us some food."
The front desk staff picked up the phone and smiled politely at Lin Feng.
"Of course, sir. Your food will be delivered to your room shortly."
Lin Feng took Caitlyn back into the elevator.
Inside, Lin Feng felt quite conflicted.
If he hadn't been mistaken, he recognized that man.
Others might not know him, but Lin Feng certainly would.
That was one of the most elusive champions in the game.
Here, however, he was one of the most untouchable individuals.
Singed.
The alchemical genius of Zaun.
And a madman.
Despite his potions always being effective, wherever Singed went, he left traces of poison and plague behind; the "glimmer" was one of Singed's infamous "works."
Moreover, Singed was also one of Silco's subordinates, currently following Jinx.
Rather than following, it would be more accurate to say that Singed was serving his own interests.
His obsession with science had reached a level that Lin Feng couldn't comprehend; he didn't care who he was with, as long as it could facilitate his experiments.
Lin Feng had always overlooked this point, not out of intent, but because Singed himself was extremely low-key. He had no interest in matters of interests, territory disputes, or even the ongoing war between the two cities.
All that mattered to him was his boundless quest for knowledge in science.
