Chapitre 26: Secrets Of Beacon Hills

As Jasper's Mustang pulled up near the burned remnants of the Hale house, he stepped out and took in the eerie silence of the place. He noticed Derek standing by the entrance, his face unreadable, watching him approach. Jasper gave a friendly smile and extended his hand.

"Jasper Nyx," he introduced himself, eyeing the solemn structure. "Officially, that is."

Derek crossed his arms, staring in silence. Jasper chuckled, glancing around. "No 'welcome, honored guest'? A little hospitality never hurt."

With a sigh, Derek opened the door, letting Jasper in. The place was in ruins, but Jasper couldn't resist a grin. "This place could use a serious renovation," he quipped, scanning the burnt walls. "Maybe some mood lighting."

Derek cut him off. "What do you want?"

Before Jasper could reply, they both heard the distant hum of Stiles' Jeep approaching. Jasper shrugged, "Let's wait. The others should hear this too."

Minutes later, Scott and Stiles climbed out of the Jeep and joined them. The silence was thick as they stood around, none quite sure where to begin. Finally, Scott broke the tension, diving straight in.

"I've been having these… dreams. Last night, I thought I was on a school bus. I—I turned, and I saw myself in the reflection. It was like I was a monster—something dark, with red eyes." Scott's voice shook slightly as he looked at the others, hoping for reassurance. "I think I hurt someone… maybe I even—"

Derek spoke first, bluntly, "So you think you killed him?"

Scott looked down, then back up at Derek and Jasper, searching for answers. "Did I?"

Jasper and Derek exchanged a knowing glance before they both answered, "No."

Scott released a shaky breath but then pressed, "But could I? Would I kill someone?"

This time, they paused. Derek answered, "Yes." Jasper added with a small, uncomfortable smile, "Probably."

Scott's face fell, the realization heavy. Stiles quickly cut in, voice urgent, "Then why are we here? What did you bring us out here for?"

Jasper looked at Scott and Stiles intently. "What do you know about the Hales?"

Scott looked blank, while Stiles, a history buff of sorts, replied, "The Hales were this big family around Beacon Hills, going way back. They were kind of like founders."

Jasper nodded, glancing at Derek. "The Hales weren't just a family. They were a pack. A pack of werewolves, dating back centuries. They were unique—not just any werewolves. Some of them had the ability to shift into full wolf form, like Derek's mother."

Scott and Stiles gaped, stunned by this reveal. Derek, however, was silent, absorbing Jasper's words with a glimmer of nostalgia.

"Long before Beacon Hills was even a town, this place was a supernatural hotspot. When the town was finally built, conflicts erupted. To keep the peace, the Hale pack turned to a coven of witches to cast an enchantment around the town and surrounding areas. This spell exiled most supernatural creatures, except for a few—werewolves, druids. The Hales became guardians, protecting the town and ensuring peace for generations." Jasper's voice softened as he glanced around the ruins. "At least, until the fire."

Derek's jaw tightened, memories flashing across his face as he asked, "What are you getting at?"

Jasper stepped forward, looking down at the ground where wolfsbane sprouted from the charred soil. "That body mutilated they found before the classes started," he said quietly. "The one Scott and Stiles tried to find in the woods… that should have been your sister, right. I'm almost certain the other half of her body is buried here."

Scott and Stiles gasped, horrified by the thought. Derek's fists clenched in anger, but Jasper raised a hand, his voice calm. "I didn't have anything to do with it. But it has everything to do with what's happening now."

Derek's expression was furious yet controlled as he ground out, "Go on."

Jasper turned, his eyes meeting Derek's with a seriousness none of them had seen before. "The Alpha that bit Scott," he said, "should be the same one who killed Laura Hale. He stole her spark to become the alpha."

This revelation sent another shockwave through Scott and Stiles. Derek's face showed he already knew, but the confirmation stung.

Scott, dazed and disturbed, finally asked, "But why me? What does he want from me? And why am I having these dreams?"

Derek answered grimly, "He wants you in his pack. The dream was probably his way of… inviting you."

Stiles' eyes widened. "An invitation? For what?"

Derek and Jasper shared a look, and Jasper answered, "An initiation."

Scott's face twisted in disgust and anger. "Initiation? You mean he wants me to kill someone just to join him?"

Jasper and Derek said nothing, their silence only confirming Scott's fears.

Finally, Derek looked to Jasper, his voice almost accusatory. "So why tell us all this?"

Jasper's expression softened as he gazed out over Beacon Hills. "I like this place," he admitted. "Beacon Hills is a good town, but without a pack to uphold the spell the Hales helped create, it's only a matter of time before it's overwhelmed. The supernatural barriers weaken with no Hale bond to maintain them, and without that, this place will become a magnet for every creature you can imagine."

Scott and Stiles exchanged a worried glance, the weight of Jasper's words settling over them. Stiles swallowed hard. "So, what happens if these barriers break?"

Jasper's smile was faint, his voice calm but foreboding. "Beacon Hills will become the ultimate supernatural hotspot, attracting things far worse than just werewolves."

They all fell silent, the gravity of the situation settling in. Each of them felt a chill at the thought, a new realization dawning on them: their lives in Beacon Hills were about to change, one way or another.
