"So...you wanted to talk Syrus??"
"Yes."
"So what's the problem? You said you wanted to talk to me in private so what's the issue? Are you still sad about not getting promoted or something?"
"Uhm...no. Actually I-I..."
"You what?"
"Can you teach me how to become a better duelist?"
"A better duelist?"
"Yes! A better duelist. Ever since i've seen you and Ja duel, i've been kinda inspired to duel."
"..."
"I'm not that great duelist like my brother."
'brother?'
"Wait you said brother? You are talking about Jaden right now right since you tend to also call him brother?"
"...I actually have a big brother who comes to this school. You probably heard of him."
"..."
"They call him the Kaizer."
"The Kaizer? He is the best duelist in the school right?"
"He's my big brother Zane Truesdale."
'Interesting...'
"So you want to become a better duelist to impress your brother."
"NO...I-uh it's tough to explain..." He said while looking down.
*sigh*
"Give me your deck Syrus."
"What??"
"Your deck. Give it to me, I want to see it."
"Sure." He took it out from his deck box and gave it to me.
I began checking every card in his deck.
"I see..."
"What do you see Kai?"
"Your deck..."
"Yes." He said with a bit of hope in his eyes.
"sucks. It's not terrible but it has no good card except power bond. Absolutely no chemistry. You probably struggle to draw a good card in this deck. And the way that you are you probably fuck up every time you can use Power Bond."
"..."
"Well whatever, let me show you a good machine deck."
"A machine deck?? I didn't know you were a machine user Kai?"
"It's not my deck."
I sat down on the floor and began searching below the bed.
"What are you searching Kai?"
"Just give me a minute Syrus. I'm pretty sure I kept it here."
I kept digging deep below it before my hand finally touch my old bag.
"A bag?"
"The bag isn't important. It's what inside the bag that's important."
"..."
"Ta-da!"
"A box?"
"A mechanical box."
"A very special mechanical box to be precise." I said before putting it on the table.
"Let me open it up. So that I can show you it more clearly."
Syrus look at the closely while it was opening expecting to see some crazy stuff due to how secured it was only to see that it had decks in it.
"That's a lot of decks for one person."
"Yeah the three decks at the bottom row are decks my old friends used to have. The three in the middle are decks that I've built and the three at the top are the most powerful decks that i have. The middle one here is the most powerful one I have."
"When you said that the three at the tops are your most powerful deck. Does that mean your current deck is weak or?"
"My current deck is special to say the least. It's not mine but it's also mine."
"...ok I won't try to understand what you were saying."
"Yeah don't try. But check this deck out you will get a clue as to how to make a good ."
Syrus began checking the deck.
"Wow...I have never seen such a deck in my life. I mean I have seen a cyber dragon deck but not one like this. I've never seen some of those cards in my life."
"Of course, that's what a good deck looks like. It was made by one of the strongest duelist I knew."
"Wow, that guy must be extremely strong if you are saying that he is strong."
"..."
"You know...like you always call people you duel weak or pathetic so that's something new to hear from you."
"Anyways what happened to that guy?"
"What?"
"You know for you to have his deck it's a bit weird tho."
I snatched the deck from his hand.
"I guess you seen enough of the deck right Syrus, so you now know what you have to do." I said before putting the deck back to its place and closing the box.
"uh...yeah. Did I say something that I shouldn't? You look a bit mad."
"No it's nothing Syrus."
I put the box back in bag and throw it below the bed.
"Anyways why is Jaden taking so long to bring the cards? The shop can't be so crow-"
"Hey guys." Jaden said opening the door followed by Chumley behind him.
"We were able to collect all the cards so when do we play the game?"
"At night probably, it will be a lot more interesting than just doing it right now."
"Bet."
"Uhm guys can we not play it today?"
"Why Chum you scared or something?"
"No I'm not, Syrus is tho."
"What? No I am not scared..."
'They are scared already.'
"Well then let's play it at night time."
*At night*
We all sat in the cafeteria and lit a candle in the middle of the table and sat around it.
"Ok so who goes first?"
"I'll start."
Syrus drew a card from the deck in the middle of the table.
"A level 4."
"Ok so I was once roaming an isolated lake and then I saw it."
"What did you see Sy?"
"It was a card."
"A card?"
"Yes a card. I kneel down and looked at the card only to see that it was the dark magician girl. I tried picking it up however the lake began sucking me and I began to drown and I couldn't breath and I-"
"Yeah we get it Syrus. No need to be so melodramatic."
"Only a kid would be scared of such a story."
"You guys can act frightened a bit at least."
"Alright then I guess it's my turn." I drew a card from the deck.
"Level 8."
"Do you guys believe in shadow games?"
"It's just a myth." Jaden answered.
"Yeah Ja is right."
"What if I tell you it's true."
"Ok...i don't really want to hear this story."
"But I want tho."
"So probably a year ago, I went to egypt with a group of friends. We were 4."
"But why did you guys go to Egypt?" Chumley asked.
"It's a bit complicated for me to answer that Chumley. Anyways we were exploring a catacomb before all of us separated. While exploring I entered a sort of tomb residing area. It's quite tough for me to explain the area."
"When I entered it, I saw a woman sitting near the tomb. She looked at me and smiled and began saying something however I can't recall it properly. I asked her what she doing here and she told me she belonged here. You have to realize that the catacomb was super hidden to the point that even the locals didn't know where it was."
"I then asked her if she knew where the exit was so that I could leave. She told me and I quote 'Let's play a game'."
"Then what?"
"She stood up and the room became dark and bloody. We then had a duel which ultimately I won. After the duel she smiled at me and threw me an eye."
"An eye?"
"A sort of antique eye. She then told me that 'Don thousand...my lord'"
"Don thousand?"
"Yeah."
"Then what happened?"
"I woke up in my bed."
"Oh come on, you said so much just to end it like this."
"But I'm not done."
"I woke up the night prior to us going to the catacombs and when I woke up I found this." I said before showing them the eye.
"Wait so your story is real."
"I don't know. I remember drinking something that night."
"Oh man can I touch it?"
"Sure." Jaden took the eye and began investigating it.
"Sy you want to touch it."
"NO JA...I dont want to...maybe chumley wants to."
"NO I...No I-I-I-I Don't Wanna!"
"Your loss then. Here Kai." I took the eye back and put it back in my pocket.
"But is the story true?"
"I don't know. It depends on how you view it."
"It was probably cause you drank that thing."
"Ok but what about the eyes Ja?"
"It's probably a relic that he is using to scare us."
"Sure Ja." Syrus said looking at me a bit scared.
"Anyways it's your turn Jaden."
"Well then my turn....oh man it's a level 1."
Both Chumley and Syrus gave a sigh of relief when they say the card.
"I will tell something from my childhood since I don't have a story. So when I was kid I used to hear voices at night coming from deck. It kept happening everyday."
"And then what happened?"
"Well it just stop."
"What you boys doing?" A voice came behind of us.
"PROFESSOR BANNER...YOU CAN'T JUMPSCARE US LIKE THAT WHEN WE ARE IN SUCH A CONCENTRATION." Jaden screamed towards him.
"Hahaha...you guys are telling horror stories I see. Can I join in?"
"Sure prof, you just have to draw a card and depending on the star level you tell the story."
"Ok then let me see what I get....oh a level 12."
"Ok i'm going to bed." Syrus said already scared.
"So there are rumors about an abandoned dorm in the middle of the island where no students are allowed to go. It was reported that the students of that dorm mysteriously disappeared due to shadow games."
"Shadow games? We were just talking about that."
"Anyways it's you guys bedtime. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Banner said before taking his leave.
"Ok so we are checking this dorm right?" I said to them.
"Stole the word right from my mouth." Jaden said.
"Let's check it tomorrow then."
"What you guys didn't hear what Professor Banner said and you Kai, you said that Shadow game existed!!"
"Stop worrying about this story Syrus. We were just having fun."
"So it's decided. Tomorrow night we are checking the dorm."
*The next night.*
"You know Chumley, I am surprised you came here."
"Seeing you guys duel during the exams gave me a weird feeling about dueling. Also exploration is the only place that we don't need dueling in this school."
"Sure Chum."
We kept exploring until we finally reached the dorm.
"uhmm guys look there is rose." Syrus said nervously.
I picked the rose up.
"It's a fresh rose, someone just put this here." I said.
"You know you guys shouldn't be here." A familiar feminine voice called to us.
"Alexis."
"This place is no joke."
"Yeah we heard the rumors about this."
"It's not rumors." Alexis said pissed off.
"One of the students that disappeared here was my brother." she said a bit saddened.
"So you are the one that put the rose here."
"Yes...it's a way for me to mourn his disappearance and hope I can find."
"So what's his name?"
"Sorry?"
"Your brother what was his name?"
"Kai I don't think you should be asking such question to-."
"Atticus Rhodes." She said before leaving.
"I see. You guys go inside, I'll talk to her for a bit."
"Sure but come inside huh or else I'll just call you scaredy cat this whole week."
The three of them got inside the dorm.
I began walking inside the bushes until I found him.
"Hey!" I put my hand on his shoulder causing him to jolt a bit.
He turned around and I could see the fear forming in his eyes.
"You-u...i know you. You are-"
"Shushhhh! Don't talk about me here. What are you even doing here?"
"I got a job by a teacher named Crowler here. He told me to scare someone named Jaden and Kai till they decide to leave the school."
"Well you see Titan, Kai is me."
His face sunk when he heard that.
"I-I didn't know...i promised."
"Last time I cut off your finger. This time maybe I should cut your hand."
"WHAT!!!"
"I'm joking. Cheer up!"
"Anyways do whatever you want but if you even by accident say something about me, I'll kill you just like I killed that friend of yours." I said before getting out of the bush.
"Also hide better, I saw you 15 minutes ago." was the final thing I told him.
I entered the dorm and began to search for the gang inside.
