Chapitre 10: Ch-10 Baron Mordo

Russell had no idea when Iron Man and Spider-Man would return. Unless they were flying, the trip would take some time!

He ran at full speed and made the trip in less than two hours.

Then, following the Captain Hydra's instructions, he searched along the dry riverbed and soon found a vine-covered cave.

Although it looked fairly pristine, Russell noticed signs of parking nearby. It was obvious that this was the base of some people.

But Russell didn't act rashly. He looked at the vines at the entrance of the cave and his brow furrowed.

There was magic there! With the 'Curse of Knowledge' entry on the magic side, he could feel the magical fluctuations!

Even though they were faint, they were as impossible to ignore as stars in the night sky!

"Warning magic? How cautious!"

Russell stared at the cave entrance, lost in thought.

Should he light a huge fire and smoke out the rat?

But if Mordo has the Sling Ring, he might be able to escape. In that case, there would be no loot, and it would alert the enemy.

But he has no way of avoiding the vines.

Should he give up?

Russell thought for a moment, but he still didn't want to leave. Magic is so important!

Even without using Furnace overload, the body would absorb free energy from the air.

Not only would it transform his flesh and blood, making him stronger, but it would also continuously accumulate pure energy in his body!

In other words, he had the ability to cast spells!

Once he received a spell input, he could use it directly.

As time passed, the false sunlight shifted and shone on Russell's face in the shadows.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up, as if he had thought of something!

After a few seconds of consideration, he took off the Captain Hydra's combat uniform under his windbreaker, leaving only the windbreaker on.

After adjusting his appearance, Russell patted his stiff cheeks to soften his expression, forced a smile, and walked towards the cave.

Instead of being cautious, he stood at the entrance and patted the vines. He called out:

"Is anyone there?"

"Hello!"

"I came here on Captain America's advice. He said I would find help here."

"Hey... is anyone really here?"

Russell was about to shout again when he noticed the vines glowing slightly with golden symbols.

The vines twisted and gathered like a snake, revealing a mended gate behind them.

Feigning curiosity, he exclaimed in shock:

"Wow! That's amazing!"

At that moment, a warm voice came from behind the door:

"It's just a little warning spell, nothing special."

The door opened and a black man in a brown robe with a red belt stepped out. He asked with a friendly smile:

"Sir, I heard you calling. Did Captain America send you?"

Russell immediately nodded and said:

"Yes, the Captain said it was safe here and we wouldn't run into that dark cloud-like beast, so we can rest easy."

He added a bit embarrassed:

"The captain is such a good man."

"I didn't even have any clothes after I was prune by those Hunters. He lent me this windbreaker."

At that moment, Russell was glad he had cut off Captain Hydra's neck when he killed him, since his windbreaker was sleeveless.

Mordo had noticed the windbreaker and recognized it as his teammate's. Hearing this explanation eased his suspicions somewhat.

Still, he wasn't completely convinced, so he smiled gently:

"Captain America really is a compassionate person. He shouldn't be living in a place like this. Those TVA Hunters are the real villains."

Russell nodded emphatically, as if he wholeheartedly agreed.

Mordo's smile deepened, but he suddenly asked, as if he had just remembered:

"By the way, why didn't the Captain escort you back? Where did he go?"

Without missing a beat, Russell replied naturally:

"Oh, right. On the way back today, he met up with two other team members who seemed to be on their way to a black market."

"The captain said it was dangerous there, with all kinds of people. So he just gave me directions and sent me back first."

"He even told me about the magic vine by the door. I didn't expect it to be real. It's amazing!"

Hearing this, Baron Mordo scoffed inwardly.

'Dangerous? More like Steve didn't want to risk his identity being exposed on the black market.'

Their reputation in the area wasn't exactly good.

It's hard to find new sheep, and if they were exposed, it would be troublesome.

As for his teammates, Mordo had no doubts. After all, Tony and Peter had left for the black market this morning.

Just yesterday, an entire port had been pruned and dropped on the plain, and several people had gotten valuable items - including Iron Man's girlfriend, Virginia Pepper Potts. 🌶️

The big boss behind the black market has organized an auction for the goods.

Mordo had no interest in technological trinkets, or he might have left.

At this point, he was no longer suspicious, and his smile grew even warmer. He laughed heartily:

"Look at me, asking questions but not being a good host."

"Come, my friend, come inside. It's too dangerous outside."

"Think of this place as home. If you need anything, just let me know. Don't hesitate!"

Russell, seemingly moved, grabbed Mordo's hands excitedly, his face flushed as he said:

"Really? Sir!"

"You're just like the Captain - a really good person."

"In that case, I won't be polite!"
