Chapitre 59: C 59

Wand, goblin, unicorn, centaur, dragon. These words conjured images of a world intertwined with magic and mythical creatures.

Kain found himself contemplating a new realm that seemed to be steeped in wizardry, and from the pedestrian vehicles and electrical equipment scattered around in vision, he deduced that this world was set in the late 20th century.

"In a world where Common people and wizards coexist, could this be the world of Harry Potter?" Kain mused. This world seemed the most probable scenario, though he did not discount other possibilities.

However, if it truly was the Harry Potter universe, it offered him an abundance of valuable commodities that could be traded. Just moments ago, Kain had glimpsed potions, dragons, unicorns, and other magical items in his vision.

"The items wizards need should primarily consist of magical artifacts. Beyond that, gold should be a significant consideration. Fortunately, I didn't liquidate my gold reserves earlier; maybe I should even purchase more now," he reflected.

After contemplating the situation, Kain began to strategize about what supplies he should bring with him. Firearms, he decided, were still the most effective protective items in his arsenal.

Although his Chakra had significantly increased—now comparable to that of a Jōnin—practicing ninjutsu remained a cumbersome task. For instance, mastering the Earth Dragon Hidden Technique had consumed considerable time.

In all honesty, Kain realized he wasn't suited for traditional ninja combat.

Ninja battles relied heavily on intelligence and strategy, whether one was a Genin or Kaguya at the Six Paths level. Intelligence was paramount, and obtaining it necessitated sharp insight—a quality Kain lacked.

There were infinite possibilities for Kain to become stronger, and some worlds might even grant him godlike powers in a single leap, allowing him to crush his enemies through sheer strength.

But if he were to endure the rigorous training required, he might as well take a break and enjoy a good drink instead. Ultimately, he reasoned, he only needed to be strong enough to ensure his own survival.

"Now is not the time to dwell on such thoughts; I need to prepare for this venture and arrange everything here first," he concluded.

Kain methodically organized his space backpack, carefully packing firearms, gold, and essential living supplies. He also included technical materials and items that were slightly ahead of that era's technological curve.

In addition to wizards, Kain realized there would be many Common people in this world, necessitating a wide array of resources.

Moreover, Kain invested heavily in gold, purchasing a significant amount. Due to time constraints, he managed to acquire gold worth tens of millions of dollars.

This transaction was substantial, especially in the United States. Acquiring more would require him to either look abroad or wait for a while longer.

During the process of buying gold, Kain conducted interviews for potential assistants. After careful consideration, he ultimately selected two individuals: Betty Ross and Laura Jones.

Both possessed impressive academic credentials; Betty had experience as a biological researcher and was highly regarded in her field, while Laura had a solid background in managing large organizations, overseeing companies with thousands of employees.

After bringing both on board, Kain assigned them specific tasks. Laura was best suited for managing the company and handling official matters, so he entrusted her with overseeing the pharmaceutical wholesale trading company and establishing a military security firm.

He promised her that as the company expanded, she would receive dividends and stock options, making the position highly attractive.

Although Laura was technically serving as Kain's assistant, she was effectively acting in the role of CEO. The compensation was lucrative, and the potential for future earnings was considerable.

Before joining Kain, Laura had inquired about him through her connections and learned that he had achieved remarkable success in just a few short years. His assets had multiplied from a few million to hundreds of millions, making the opportunity even more appealing for her.

Betty Ross, on the other hand, was responsible for leveraging her connections to recruit biological researchers and oversee the Biological Research Center, as well as managing Kain's daily operations.

While her workload appeared lighter than Laura's, she spent more time collaborating closely with Kain.

Kain had dedicated a significant amount of time to arranging for these two assistants, but he felt confident that their presence would alleviate much of his burden in the future.

However, for over a month, Kain had sensed something peculiar about Betty. She claimed to be at odds with her father and expressed a desire to break away and make her own mark, accepting Kain's invitation under the guise of it aligning with her academic background.

To Kain, this story seemed dubious.

Despite his suspicions regarding Betty's narrative, he found no other substantial flaws in her demeanor. As such, he resolved to consult Orochimaru about developing a spell, planning to prepare one for each of his assistants.

Once Kain had acquired the gold, coupled with what he had obtained from the ninja world, he now had a total of three tons of gold. Assuming the magic items in the wizarding world were not prohibitively expensive, he expected to fill his space backpack to capacity upon his return.

In the context of the Marvel universe, there appeared to be only one location akin to Kamar-Taj, the magical stronghold on Earth. However, the magic system there seemed to emphasize hard work and discipline, with magical items being difficult to come by or popularize.

The existence of another unknown magical system could offer unimaginable benefits to Kain, but he knew he had to tread carefully before diving in.

As he arrived in London, England, Kain was struck by the juxtaposition of modernity and antiquity. Despite being in the last decade of the 20th century—a time of rapid urban development—he could still feel remnants of the previous century permeating the city.

"This trading rule is incredibly frustrating. If I can't locate a wizard within three days, I'll have to seek a common man to bound world trading coordinate that could be perilous," he thought.

Kain mused, "Now, can I be certain that Queen Elizabeth is still alive?" He shook his head; choosing Queen Elizabeth was not as favorable as selecting Prince Charles.

At least Charles was likely to have a few more years ahead of him than Elizabeth.

Yet finding wizards in a world filled with Common people was a real challenge. Since arriving, Kain had gathered enough information to deduce that he was indeed in the Harry Potter universe.

Although he hadn't read much of the series, everything he observed and the data from the trading system made it nearly 99% certain.

Kain considered his options for locating a dentist named Granger or the Dursleys in London. He knew of the Dursleys but was unclear about their profession or how to find them.

He resolved that he didn't need to expend too much energy on this endeavor; instead, he sought the assistance of a well-known private security company.

The company he approached was a product of the merger of several private detective agencies over the years. Their established relationships meant they had reliable manpower and a solid reputation.

Once he made contact with the private security firm, Kain clearly articulated his request. "I'm looking for a dentist named Granger and the Dursleys," he stated.

"Sir, do you have any additional information regarding the Dursleys?" Mr. Hasburn, the representative, inquired.

Kain chuckled, "If I had more information, I wouldn't need you to help me find anyone. You have one day to earn the rest of your reward."

With that, he placed 2,000 pounds on the table. Prior to his arrival, Kain had exchanged 500,000 pounds, ensuring he was well-equipped with currency that was relevant to the end of the 20th century.

Kain offered the security company a competitive price: 5,000 pounds for locating one person and 10,000 pounds for finding two. For the private security firm, this represented one of their largest personal contracts outside of police work, with minimal risk involved.

"Leave it to us, Mr. Kain," Hasburn said, collecting the pounds from the table with a smile.

As Kain prepared to delve deeper into the magical world that awaited him, he felt a mix of excitement and anticipation. His journey was just beginning, and he was determined to seize the opportunities that lay ahead.
