Orion was not picking my calls.

I must have sent thousands of texts to him, all delivered and read, but he ignored each and every one of them.

And I definitely have dialed his number more times than a pizza delivery guy's phone rings on a Friday night.

I have worn out the digits of his number so much that his contact was now seared in my brain, yet Orion was still not picking up.

Harriet, who called to check up on me the day after I found out that Kieran was about to be a father, had immediately sensed the words I wasn't saying.

She had read in between my lines of 'I am okay,' and knew at once that something was wrong, and I was keeping it from her.

My best friend had drove all the way to my house where I was taking another impromptu break from work, and as usual, I told her everything that happened.
