Chapitre 2: A Place to Stay

Once Lily stepped through the portal, all of a sudden her vision was gone, and her body started to writhe in a mysterious pain. After a few seconds passed she all of a sudden found herself lying face up in a field of grass with the previous pain mysteriously gone. "That, did not feel good. Where am I?" Lily wondered as she began to stand up. "W-what are these buildings? They look so different from my world. They look more advanced! Wow, a world in the future! I wonder what other cool stuff they might have! But where do I go now? And I can still feel that I don't have my magic so if any danger comes then I am probably screwed. I should find the town guards and ask for some help."

As Lily began to move in the direction of one of the buildings, she noticed something was off. "Why does it feel so strange to walk? I am definitely me but did I get smaller? And my chest is a bit smaller too. Did I, get younger!?"

All of a sudden Lily came to the realization as to why she felt that great pain during her trip. "Now I don't even know my age!" Lily shouted, annoyed and frustrated. "Time to look for the guards I guess."

Lily began to clumsily walk around for a while as she started to get used to her younger and smaller body. After about half an hour of walking, Lily finally encountered someone. "Sir, do you know where I can find the town guard?"

The man reached up to his ear and he seemed to be taking something small out of it. "The what?"

"The town guard."

"Go bother someone else." So that's what Lily did. As she kept asking a bunch of different people around town, they all had similar responses.

"Why does everyone keep ignoring me and treating me like I'm making a joke or something. And why have I seen not one single guard! And how big is this town! I have been walking around since the middle of the day and it's almost dusk now! What is going on with this world!" Lily shouted in annoyance and rage at how frustrating her day has been so far. "I really defeated the Demon lord just to come to another world and get ignored huh."

As the night swept in, Lily realized she had no place to stay. She decided to just sit against the side of one of the buildings that have an area with a flimsy looking wall. 'Guess I have to sleep here tonight. This is pretty nerve wracking. I have never had to do this before. Whenever I had to camp outside in the past it was always with my teammates and we knew what kind of dangers lurked out in the night. We were also the strongest out of anybody in our world. Yet here I am now, powerless and in an unknown world with unknown threats. I miss my friends. Even if they were powerless too, just them being here would be enough to make me feel safe.' Lily thought as she began to drift off into sleep.

"What is someone doing sleeping outside our house!" A woman yelled. "Honey, call the cops!"

"W-wait! I mean you no harm. The night was approaching and I needed a place to rest. Your home simply seemed to be the safest option against the unknown threats of this worlds night. I will find somewhere else to stay tonight. I apologize." Lily explained while bowing her head.

'It's just a little girl.' The woman thought. "Hey, sweetie, what's your name? It's okay that you had to sleep here tonight. We will get you some help and find you a proper place to stay that is safe."

"My name is Lily. Thank you. So are you going to be taking me to the town guards?" Lily asked.

'Town guards?' "If by that you mean the police then yes. Just wait right here for the cops to arrive." Said the woman.

After sitting in silence for a little bit the police eventually arrived at the house. "What is your name kid?" Asked one of the officers.

"Lily."

"No last name?" Responded the officer.

"Aren't last names only for nobles and royalty? I don't have one of course." Lily replied matter of factly.

After asking some more questions the officer questioning her came to a conclusion and went to tell the adults who found her. "I think she is a run away. Something bad probably happened at home and she doesn't want to go back so she is using all of this medieval fantasy shenanigans to cover it up and make excuses to not tell us anything. One strange thing is she doesn't even seem to know how old she is but we can get that with a simple test."

"She ran away? Oh poor girl. I can't imagine what must have happened to her for her to have to run away." Said the woman.

"We will probably have to bring her to cps or an orphanage until she is an adult since she clearly doesn't want to go back home." Said the officer.

"We could take her! We found her after all and we always wanted a kid but could never have one. We even considered adopting recently too. We were going to go next week and we already have all of the papers to be able to adopt someone filled out! We should do this dear." The woman argued to the officers and her husband.

"I would be happy to take her in too." Replied the husband.

"We can definitely make this work. We will just have to do some paperwork and you can have her by the end of they day. As long as it's okay with her too of course." One of the officers replied.

"I would be really grateful if they took me in." Responded Lily. 'I guess I finally found a place to stay. Along with a whole new family and a whole new life. I really just can't wait!'
