After the enemy gang members rushed into the trap, Sato quickly commanded Gloom to release a large amount of Sleep Powder from the rooftop, covering the Wild Wolves who were busy inspecting their fallen comrades. With their attention entirely focused on the dead, the gang members were caught off guard.

As soon as their leader finished speaking, the Wild Wolves and their Pokémon, who had already inhaled the Sleep Powder, began to feel an overwhelming drowsiness. Most of them succumbed to their sleep, with only a few stubborn individuals trying to resist.

The leader of the Wild Wolves, hardened and ruthless, immediately stabbed his thigh with a knife, using the pain to fight off the powerful urge to sleep. He quickly retrieved an antidote from his space pouch.

Seeing this, the remaining conscious gang members followed suit, cutting themselves to stay awake long enough to pull out antidotes. But before they could even open the bottles, green energy spheres and white wind blades rained down from above, hitting both the Wild Wolves and their Pokémon in an indiscriminate barrage.

Having inhaled Gloom's Sleep Powder, their bodies were sluggish and unresponsive. Faced with the fierce attacks from Zubat and Gloom, they had no chance to defend themselves. One by one, they watched helplessly as the energy spheres and wind blades struck them down, sending them into darkness.

After a brief flurry of screams, the alley fell silent once more. At that moment, with Zubat's help, Sato descended smoothly from the rooftop to the ground.

"Numbers don't always matter. In the end, they're just a gang of thugs who bully the weak in the city. They're not even as vigilant as wild Pokémon," Sato thought coldly, surveying the scene.

With the aid of the flashlights still scattered on the ground, Sato could clearly see the grim outcome. The Wild Wolves members and their Pokémon lay in pools of blood.

To ensure none of his enemies survived, Sato methodically inflicted fatal injuries on all the fallen gang members and their Pokémon, eliminating any potential threats.

"Spare me! Please, I don't want to die! I can give you a lot of money. If you let me live, I'll give you all the money the Wild Wolves have hidden. I beg you, don't kill me!" The leader of the Wild Wolves, who had been feigning death, suddenly struggled to his feet, pleading with Sato as he prepared to deliver the final blow to his heart.

Upon seeing Sato's black Rocket uniform, the gang leader knew he had run into someone far more dangerous than he could handle. He also realized that even if he died, no one would dare seek revenge for him. Desperate to save his own life, he humiliated himself by begging for mercy.

Sato's face remained expressionless as he glanced at Gloom, giving it a slight nod. Understanding the signal, Gloom immediately released another dose of Sleep Powder, forcing the gang leader into unconsciousness.

Without a word, Sato ended the leader's life with a swift, silent stab.

About three or four minutes had passed since the battle ended, and the sounds of the dying gang members had alerted some nearby residents. However, as the sound of police sirens approached, Sato finished looting the area and made his escape.

Before leaving, Sato ensured no trace was left behind. He poured gasoline over the scene and had Growlithe ignite it, causing a fire that quickly consumed the battlefield. With the help of Zubat's gusts, the flames spread rapidly.

By the time the League police arrived, a full-blown fire had broken out, and all the evidence had been reduced to ash.

Elsewhere, after the League's firefighters had dealt with the fire, Sato had already changed back into his regular Trainer uniform and was sitting in a second-floor room of a small inn, counting his spoils from the battle.

In the room, Zubat hung quietly from the ceiling, using its echolocation to monitor the surroundings, while Gloom played on the floor with Nidoran.

Growlithe was curled up at Sato's feet, its face filled with worry. As a highly empathetic creature, Growlithe understood that much of the team's current trouble stemmed from him, and this realization left him feeling very unhappy.

"Don't worry," Sato said, crouching down to pat Growlithe on the head with a smile. "Now that you're part of the team, we're companions, and companions don't betray or abandon each other. Rest assured, we'll protect you. But you have to be mentally prepared too—train hard, grow quickly, and one day, you'll protect the rest of us."

Sensing Growlithe's unease, Sato spoke reassuringly. Zubat, Gloom, and Nidoran also approached to comfort Growlithe, each signaling that they would do their best to protect him.

"Ruff, ruff, ruff!" Growlithe barked happily in response to the kind words of Sato and the others, nodding enthusiastically. His eyes were once again filled with fighting spirit.

The warmth from his companions, coupled with his strong sense of responsibility, caused Growlithe to make a silent vow to himself: to grow stronger as quickly as possible and protect every member of the team.

"That's more like it. A Fire-type Pokémon should always have a strong fighting spirit," Sato said with satisfaction, pleased to see the shift in Growlithe's attitude. He felt that everything he had done so far had been worth it.

Sato knew that Growlithe had now truly integrated into the team, and with that, the overall strength of his squad had risen significantly.

The previously tense atmosphere in the room gradually relaxed, and the four Pokémon began interacting and playing together.

Seeing how the four Pokémon were now getting along so well, Sato smiled softly. He then returned to his desk to continue organizing the loot he had collected.

After the battle, Sato had taken advantage of the chaos caused by the fire to escape the scene. He abandoned his original training plans and decided against staying at the Pokémon Center, opting instead to pay 200 PokéDollars for a small room at an inn on the outskirts of the city for the night.

Though Sato considered his actions during the slaughter near perfect, he knew the League police weren't to be underestimated. He couldn't be certain that the fire hadn't left any traceable evidence that could link him to the crime. So, for now, he chose not to go back to the heavily surveilled Pokémon Center.

However, Sato's worries proved to be unnecessary. Because the victims were notorious gang members, and no witnesses had been found, the League police decided not to trouble a "hero" who had rid the city of criminals. The case was quickly closed.

To Sato's amusement, the next day's newspapers portrayed the killings as the work of a "mysterious hero who wiped out a gang of criminals in a brave act of justice."

Many citizens and novice Trainers applauded the news, praising the actions of the unknown vigilante who had delivered justice. Of course, the truth of these popular stories was questionable, and only a few people knew the real details. Among them was Ichiro Yamaguchi, the spoiled heir who had inadvertently been caught up in the event.

That morning, Ichiro was eating breakfast in a luxurious private villa he had recently purchased. As expected, a sweet-looking maid brought him the latest edition of the newspaper.

"Serves them right! They deserved it! Thank goodness I'm smart and cautious—if I had been used as a pawn, today's headline would have been about some clueless rich kid dying in a tragic accident," he muttered angrily as he read the newspaper handed to him by the maid.
