Chapitre 11: Breakthrough

The group of four was in an ideal position to ambush, and it didn't take long before they saw five figures appear.

Fortunately, the ones approaching were goblins, not humans. Otherwise, waiting here would have been a waste of time.

All four of them exchanged serious glances to confirm that everything was going according to the initial plan.

It was clear from the start that they had no idea how many would come, so every plan was just relative.

If there were too many, the obvious choice would be to flee. But if the numbers were manageable, they would stay and launch a sneak attack.

They couldn't afford a head-on battle, as if the goblins fled at full strength, no one could stop them.

At that moment, the five goblins, unaware of the danger lurking around them, walked along cheerfully while chatting:

"Hahaha, I told you there would be water here."

"Yeah, those idiots are still wandering around cluelessly."

"Hmph, how could they be as clever as us?"

"A bunch of cowards, nothing worth mentioning."

.....

The group was deeply surprised, not because of the goblins themselves but because of the language.

Only now did they realize that a new language had become dominant in their minds, one they could use even more fluently than their native tongue.

However, they set aside their confusion for the moment. Defeating these goblins was the priority.

The five goblins moved as if they owned the place, confidently walking along since they had found nothing dangerous along the way.

At the moment the last goblin stepped into the ambush range, the four of them focused their energy and hurled stones directly at the heads of their four targets.

The throws were powerful but not lethal, just enough to knock the goblins down, struggling on the ground.

The lead goblin stood there dumbfounded, not yet understanding what had happened when sounds came from both sides.

The four burst from their hiding spots, spears in hand, charging straight at him.

The goblin had no choice but to flee toward the stream.

But unfortunately, in his panic, he stepped on a slippery stone and fell headfirst to the ground.

As he scrambled to get up, Xue Lian hurled her spear, piercing his chest.

He continued to struggle for a while longer, but his strength gradually faded. It didn't take long before he stopped moving altogether.

The other three weren't idle either, they quickly dealt with the four goblins who were no longer able to resist.

At that moment, something strange happened. From the chest of the dead goblin, a small glowing orb emerged and floated toward Xue Lian.

She cautiously stared at it, preparing to dodge, but for some reason, it stopped right in front of her.

Meanwhile, the others, having finished off their goblins, encountered a similar situation. Except for one, the rest felt a bit dizzy.

Everyone knew who remained calm — of course, it was the one who had fallen from the sky.

"Hey, what's happening here? Is this thing dangerous?" Xue Lian asked.

The glowing orb looked quite dangerous. It could easily fly out of the goblin's chest, meaning it could just as easily pass through hers.

In simple terms, it resembled a floating bullet. If it lodged itself into her chest, she would be done for. At least, that's what they had observed.

Lei Feng, being a bit more composed, recalled something and asked:

"Azeroth, is this the star you mentioned? Is it really safe to absorb something this dangerous?"

"Relax, just put it in your mouth, it won't kill you. Swallow it directly, and you'll inherit the energy from that goblin. Simply put, one star makes you twice as strong, two stars make you three times stronger."

Hearing this, Lei Feng confidently swallowed the star. But why would he take such a risk? Shouldn't he have let someone else test it first?

There was a simple lesson: if you want others to trust you, the best way is to trust them first.

If you're betrayed, that's just bad luck. But if you trust no one, chances are no one will trust you either.

And if a leader doesn't have a single person truly loyal to them, then what's the point of leading?

At that moment, Lei Feng's body felt incredibly comfortable. He sensed himself growing stronger, though the absorption process was rather time-consuming.

"It might take a bit of time. You all should swallow the stars as well. I'll stand guard." Azeroth said.

The other two nodded and also swallowed their stars. They experienced the same continuous growth that Lei Feng felt.

After seeing that they were in the process of absorbing the energy, Azeroth faithfully stood guard.

Although he was a bug, he wasn't too overpowered and, of course, couldn't instantly absorb the star either.

Half an hour passed, and Lei Feng opened his eyes. The other two also regained consciousness shortly after. Seeing this, Azeroth smiled and asked:

"How do you feel? Not bad, right? Feels good to get stronger, doesn't it?"

"Haha, it feels amazing! This is the first time I've felt my strength increase so much. But exactly how much has our physical strength increased? Didn't you say we'd inherit the goblin's power? Why does it feel like our bodies are only a little bit stronger?" Xue Lian asked.

The other two listened closely as well. Although they weren't entirely sure, they could tell that their physical strength hadn't doubled.

"Ah, let me explain that clearly. When it comes to pure physical strength, of course, it hasn't doubled — it's only increased by about 10%. Only significant breakthroughs can double your strength. The doubling effect happens with your magic power. You can think of it as your mana increasing by 100%."

Without Azeroth's explanation, they would have needed time to gather data and come to this conclusion on their own.

"I see. Wait a minute. Did you just say magic? Does that mean we can use those kinds of abilities now?" Lei Feng asked, utterly astonished.

Though he knew this world wasn't simple, hearing confirmation still felt much different than mere speculation.

"Hahaha, amazing! Am I about to become a mage? This is going to be so much fun!" Xue Lian laughed cheerfully.

Long Wei nodded with a smile and said,

"Who would've thought? My childhood dream is about to come true. Although I never cared much about it, I can't deny how incredible this is."

At that moment, there were still two stars left. Lei Feng picked one up and threw it toward Xue Lian, startling her with his sudden action.

In her mind, Lei Feng should logically be the one to consume it.

After all, the leader would typically need the power to assert dominance over his subordinates, according to conventional thinking.

But the Xi Emperor was no ordinary person. His vision was far from narrow.
