Chapitre 33: Lunchtime Observations

The midday sun shone brightly over the Academy courtyard, casting warm rays across the groups of students scattered around, enjoying their lunch break. Haruto sat quietly under a tree, his bento box open in front of him, its contents carefully portioned for the day's training. As he ate, he took in the lively scene around him, quietly observing his classmates—especially the ones he knew all too well from the Naruto anime.

A small smile tugged at his lips as his eyes landed on Asuma Sarutobi. Even as a kid, Asuma had a certain nonchalant coolness about him. He lounged under a nearby tree, his posture relaxed and confident. There was something easygoing about him, the way he casually handled everything, always seeming a bit too mature for his age.

Haruto watched as Asuma threw a glance at Kurenai, who was sitting with a group of girls nearby. He chuckled inwardly. Even now, Asuma was clearly trying to get her attention, acting like he wasn't doing anything special while sneaking occasional looks her way. He wasn't bad at it either—he played it cool, never over the top, just enough to keep things interesting.

"Typical," Haruto muttered under his breath, knowing what their future held from the anime. But seeing it play out like this, in real life, was still oddly amusing.

The Power of Youth

A loud, unmistakable voice cut through the chatter of the courtyard, snapping Haruto's attention to the center of the action. Might Guy, of course, was in the middle of a passionate speech about the power of youth, his booming voice full of energy and enthusiasm.

"Nothing is impossible with hard work! The springtime of youth will carry us forward into greatness!" Guy declared, fists clenched and eyes blazing with determination. His bright green jumpsuit seemed to practically glow in the sunlight, and his intensity was enough to make several of the younger students back away in slight confusion.

Haruto couldn't help but grin. Guy hadn't changed one bit from what he remembered—his boundless energy, his unwavering belief in hard work and perseverance. There was something admirable about it, though. Despite how over-the-top Guy could be, Haruto knew that his relentless determination was what would turn him into one of Konoha's most fearsome shinobi in the future.

"Guy's always going to be Guy," Haruto mused, shaking his head as he took another bite of his lunch.

The Obito and Kakashi Show

A little farther off, Haruto's eyes drifted toward another familiar duo. Obito Uchiha was pacing back and forth, clearly in the middle of another one of his self-declared challenges aimed at his usual rival, Kakashi Hatake.

"Kakashi, I'm telling you, I'll beat you this time!" Obito proclaimed, his face set with determination. "I've been training harder than ever! You'll see!"

Kakashi, as usual, stood nearby with his arms crossed, looking far too cool for school. His half-lidded gaze and disinterested expression never changed, even as Obito continued his spirited rant. He glanced up briefly, but only to offer a nonchalant shrug.

"We'll see, Obito," Kakashi said, his tone as indifferent as ever. "But I doubt it."

Haruto smirked at the exchange. The dynamic between Obito and Kakashi hadn't changed at all from what he remembered. Obito, always passionate and determined, constantly striving to prove himself, while Kakashi remained aloof, effortlessly outshining him without even trying.

It was a rivalry that would become so much more important later, but for now, it was just two kids—one trying to push past his limits, the other too laid back to even bother taking the challenge seriously. Still, Haruto knew from his memories that this rivalry would eventually shape the future of the shinobi world.

Reflections Amid the Chaos

As Haruto continued to eat, he couldn't help but feel a strange sense of nostalgia. Watching these characters—these future legends—interact as kids was surreal. In the anime, they were icons, larger than life. But here, they were just kids, laughing, joking, and challenging each other in the way kids do. Seeing them like this, so carefree and unaware of what their futures held, made Haruto appreciate this moment in a way he hadn't expected.

Asuma was trying to act cool while subtly flirting with Kurenai. Guy was a ball of energy, constantly pushing himself and everyone around him with his over-the-top speeches. And Obito was, as always, trying to outdo Kakashi, who effortlessly played the role of the calm, unbothered genius.

Haruto, though quiet and removed, enjoyed watching them. He saw the seeds of the people they would become, but for now, they were just students. For a brief moment, their future struggles didn't matter—they were just kids having fun, competing, and growing up in the village.

A breeze swept through the courtyard, rustling the leaves overhead, and Haruto leaned back against the tree, closing his eyes for a moment. He was in no rush. There was still time for all of them to become who they were meant to be.

For now, it was enough to just watch, to take in the small, quiet moments of youth. Moments where the weight of the future hadn't yet settled on their shoulders.

The power of youth indeed.
