Chapitre 374: Chapter 374: They Not Only Dine and Dash, But They Also Hit People...

Mu Qing stared blankly at Lin Fan's departing figure, touching her kissed lips. She hadn't expected it to happen like that. Lin Fan had never initiated such actions before. In the past, Mu Qing had always greeted him with a kiss the moment she woke up.

He must have thought she had forgotten, or perhaps was waiting for him, which is why he took the initiative to kiss her this time. From now on, she would let him take the lead.

Downtown.

Lin Fan's face was full of smiles.

Old Zhang held a hen, whispering to it. The gist of his words was clear: Why was Lin Fan so happy? What had happened?

He really wanted to ask, but decided against it.

Inside a hotel.

Diners pointed at a table not far away. The people at that table were dressed strangely, in ancient costumes, with many unusual accessories. They all had long hair, and several young men among them were so handsome that many of the female diners gazed at them with open admiration.

"The food on this planet is not bad, just too many impurities, though without any real effect," one of the young men said slowly.

He sipped the restaurant's most expensive tea, but found it unimpressive. Even the spring water back home was better.

These people possessed an uncommon air, especially the young man who spoke. He exuded a noble, almost untouchable aura.

"No need to go to Changbai Mountain for now. Let them fight over it. It's truly laughable how they're vying so fiercely for such insignificant things."

They were all powerful members of a great clan from the stars. Instead of heading straight to Changbai Mountain, they chose to enjoy the city first, a rather unconventional approach.

"The master speaks wisely," the others said respectfully to the young man, their deference evident in every gesture and word. It was a respect that ran deep, ingrained in their very being.

"Let's go."

As powerful members of a star clan, their status was lofty. For them to dine at this establishment should be considered an honor, a cause for gratitude and tears of joy. While that might be an exaggeration, it conveyed the general sentiment.

"Please wait! You haven't paid the bill yet," a waiter said, blocking their path. He looked shocked. In today's harmonious society, dining and dashing was rare. He couldn't imagine these people, dressed in peculiar yet elegant attire, as the type to skip out on a bill.

"Gentlemen, who will be settling the bill?" the waiter asked calmly, maintaining a respectful tone. He sensed that these were not ordinary people. He guessed they must be wealthy and influential, and perhaps this was just a prank. He needed to stay composed and communicate politely. In the restaurant business, there were many unassuming-looking individuals who turned out to be powerful figures, testing the waiters' patience. Such situations often presented opportunities.

The star clan members exchanged glances.

"Do you know who we are?" a large man asked coldly. He stood before the waiter like a small mountain, his imposing physique radiating an immense pressure.

"I... I don't know who you are," the waiter stammered, fear creeping into his voice. He had dealt with troublemakers before, usually drunk and unruly. In those cases, the best approach was to appease them. But this situation was different. These people were sober and deliberately causing trouble.

"You dare to stop us without knowing who we are? You've got guts!" the large man roared. "Eating here is your supreme honor. Now get out of the way!"

He turned to leave.

The waiter had never encountered such arrogance. If they left, he would have to pay for their meal, a sum far beyond his meager salary. Mustering his courage, he thought that even if he got beaten, he might receive compensation. He stepped forward and blocked their path again.

"You can't leave! Please pay the bill!"

On the street.

"Where did you sleep last night?" Old Zhang asked.

"At my wife's place."

"Ah! Can you take me with you next time?"

"That's not appropriate. I'm with my wife, not my friend. If I were with a friend, then I could take you along."

They walked and talked, their conversation filled with trivial matters. To them, these everyday topics held great significance. Matters that others considered important were mere trifles in their eyes.

The demonic rooster glanced strangely at Old Zhang. Terrifying! Even he, a demonic being, knew not to covet a friend's wife. Yet, this human was actually entertaining such thoughts. Truly a terrifying human.

The demonic rooster felt a pang of sorrow for his own predicament. Working undercover beside such a dangerous human… how many of his brethren could understand his pain?

More importantly… where were his brethren? Not even a single bubble had surfaced. Had they forgotten their oaths of conquest? To conquer humanity, seize their lands, enslave their children, and devour their wives – these were the demonic aspirations of old.

He, the demonic rooster, had strived for these goals, even sacrificing his dignity.

But now… all of that had vanished. He was fighting alone.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed. A figure came flying out of the restaurant.

The waiter landed on the ground, groaning in pain. His arms and elbows were scraped, his face bruised, tears and snot streaming down his face.

"How could you hit someone?" he wailed, his voice filled with grievance. For a grown man to cry so openly showed the extent of his distress.

A crowd gathered, pointing and murmuring. They had never witnessed such blatant disregard for decency. Some took out their phones, recording videos to post online, already composing titles in their minds:

"Restaurant Waiter Encounters…" – leaving the rest to the imagination. A mysterious title was essential to attract attention.

"Are you okay?"

Lin Fan was a man who liked to meddle in other people's business. He enjoyed helping others and hated seeing anyone bullied, especially someone defenseless.

Witnessing this scene, not only Lin Fan but even Old Zhang couldn't stand idly by.

The waiter, his eyes red-rimmed, looked pitiful and grievance. "Look at them! They ate without paying and even resorted to violence! I'm just a worker, and they're bullying me because there are more of them."

"Yes, that's truly excessive," Lin Fan agreed, nodding seriously.

What the waiter needed most was validation. Lin Fan's presence and acknowledgment offered him a measure of comfort.

Then, a group of people emerged from the restaurant, the young man at the forefront, his expression calm and unreadable, as if nothing could ruffle his composure. His attire and demeanor gave him an air of distinction.

Seeing them, the waiter fearfully hid behind Lin Fan.

"It's them. It's them…" Clearly, he had been thoroughly intimidated. He usually exercised and considered himself reasonably strong, yet he had been handled like a chick, unable to resist. The difference in power was immense.

Old Zhang said, "We need to help him."

"Yes," Lin Fan agreed.

They worked for a special department, their usual task being to patrol the city and assist those in need. Seeing a smile return to the face of someone they helped brought them great satisfaction.

At this moment, the star clan members stood there as if looking down upon the world, the onlookers mere ants gazing up at elephants. The gap between them was insurmountable, a world of difference.

The large man hadn't killed the waiter for a simple reason: crushing ants would only dirty his hands.

"Stop!" Lin Fan blocked their path, his gaze fixed on them, his expression serious. "Your behavior was appalling. I expect you to offer this waiter a sincere apology and compensation. While lacking money for a meal is understandable, you must perform appropriate work to cover the cost."

"First, apologize to this waiter."

His expression was stern. The peace of the city rested on his and Old Zhang's shoulders.

Perhaps emboldened by someone taking a stand, the onlookers found their courage surging. Even if someone got beaten, it wouldn't be them.

"That's right, apologize!"

"You must apologize!"

"Eating without paying and resorting to violence? You have no regard for the law!"

They spoke vehemently, condemning the group as if they were heinous criminals. In this moment, they felt enveloped by the light of justice. They were the embodiment of righteousness. Their desire to right the wrong was amplified, focused solely on seeking justice for the waiter.

"Silence!" the large man roared, his voice like thunder, causing the onlookers' eardrums to ache. They cowered, intimidated by his imposing figure, feeling as if a mountain was pressing down on them.

The crowd, previously bursting with righteous indignation, fell silent, heads bowed, not daring to utter a word.

"Hmph!" the large man sneered, then turned to Lin Fan, raising his hand and bringing it down towards his head in a swift slap.

The star clan had arrived.

Paying for food? Preposterous!

Only by making an example would these ants learn that some things were beyond their purview.
