I'm frozen as the wolf bares his teeth, large paws by the sides of my face. Faidon takes a step toward us, but the wolf snarls at him before returning his attention to me. Luminous green eyes glower down at me. The fear that had skittered through me vanishes as I glare back at Eryx.
"Get. Off. Of. Me," I punctuate each word with a hiss.
The beast's jaws get closer, exhaling a cloud of air harshly from his nose, blowing back the few strands of my hair that wouldn't remain in the plaited bun.
He snarled again, and I scoffed. "Your plan is going well for you."
I lean forward, pushing my elbows into the snow and glare back at the Alpha Prince. "What now? You want to rip my face off?"
The black wolf's snout inhaled deeply against the side of my neck, then sniffed around my hair. Growls vibrated through his chest and the ground beneath me.
"You do not fear him?" Faidon watches curiously.
