Chapitre 50: C50: The Mental Hospital

A barrage of comments follows.

-----------------------------------------------------------

"Inhale... exhale... My breathing is a little difficult."

"Haha, Brother Sun Hua (Sunflower) is in trouble." ꉂ (´∀`)ʱªʱªʱª

'_(´ཀ`」 ∠)_' Sun Yixie replied with an emoji

"Horror games are as easy as breathing for me."

"Hahaha, hurry up toward a ventilator, I'm having difficulty breathing!"

〣 ( ºΔº ) 〣

"Don't panic, if it gets too much, I'll stop the stream. I know my limits." I murmured.

But I wrote this in the chat, "What do you know, I'm just doing it for the live broadcast effects!"

-----------------------------------------------------------

Even though it's a horror game, It has only been a few minutes since I started.

The chat in the live broadcast room feels like a party—it's chaotic.

Looking at the chat in the livestream, I feel a little embarrassed. I know, I can't use "as easy as air" again.

This game has subverted whatever I expected, or imagined from a little horror game! This game surely is a Wolf in sheep's clothing.

The atmosphere, Visuals, and the sense of immersion—it's intense.

It feels no weaker than VR games. It's due to unexpected immersive horror.

From a psychological perspective, whenever you are focused, the immersion becomes super high. It is due to the rhythmic breathing sound effect, and the always moving handheld in the screen.

Most games ease player immersion into the experience through story and music, letting them slowly sink in.

But horror games are different.

I know~ I'm going to get scared. But I have no idea when or how. So I am always scared.

The atmosphere born through the music and the visuals keeps me glued to the game.

This is also a part of FPS games.

That's why, in these kinds of games, players feel exhausted, tired, and dried up after a while.

It took a high level of focus, concentration, and anticipation.

I glance at the game screen, and then at the chat flowing beside it.

I slowly push my chair back, pull the mouse and keyboard away, and place them on a small stool beside my knees.

Likewise, I'm trying to relax by putting a little distance between me and the screen.

Of course, the chat goes wild with sarcastic comments.

It's also a little inconvenient to play like this.

But the more important thing is—I realize this hasn't made me feel any better.

The distance makes it feel like someone is sitting beside me, or behind me.

I drilled through a gap in the wall, climbed into the ventilation duct, and glanced at the bullet screen on the secondary screen next to me. It was uncomfortable to play.

I looked around the room subconsciously, trying to strengthen myself by speaking louder.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"You're just a chicken! What's there to be afraid of? I can handle this!" Today I am going to butcher the ancestry of all chickens.

"Cut! Panic over nothing!" ha- he- HU, I breathe aloud.

"Is panic even useful?" I asked aloud in my mind.

"You're just a chicken, you need to take it step by step!"- Like a mental patient. I shouted this aloud. Of course, I pulled off a classic on-and-off mike at the right timing.

"What's the use of panicking?" I continued,

"Are you scared, guys?" I asked on the stream

"I'm not scared at all!" To which, I replied

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

After getting out of the ventilation duct, I saw the blood-stained walls around me and swallowed hard, trying not to show it.

By this point, I'd already controlled the character in the game to approach a false door, and I ignorantly pushed it open.

The next moment, the music in the game turned sharp and rapid, and a hanging corpse suddenly swung toward the protagonist in the game, filling the entire screen.

The protagonist in the game, along with me outside the game, let out a shrill cry together.

"Ahhhh!" it butchered my defense, this merciless chicken. ▓▒░(°_°)░▒▓

The sudden corpse hit me hard, although it was dead, and I found myself repeating the same masking operation from before, my heart pounding in my chest.

I could feel it—thumping strong and fast. Thankfully, I am still young.

//////>,_,<\\\\\\

It was all because of that terrifying jump scare.

"A chicken, a chicken! It's fine if I scream, but why are you screaming?" I thought, trying to distract myself as I heard the protagonist's heavy breathing through my headphones.

Maybe no one would believe me, but it wasn't just the jump scare from the door. The real reason I screamed was that the protagonist in the game shouted first.

That startled me, and hearing the protagonist speak made me scream out of pure reflex.

My legs, hidden under the table, were trembling, and I could feel the sweat trickling down my back, soaking my clothes. Thankfully, I had been to the bathroom earlier.

Touching my chest with one hand, I took slow and deep breaths, trying to calm myself down.

Looking at the game screen, I hesitated for a while, stood up in front of the camera, lowered the temperature of the air conditioner a little, and grabbed a down jacket with a hat from the cabinet next to me.

"Brothers, the temperature is a bit colder today. I'll go put on some warm clothes." I said, putting on the down jacket, followed by the hat, and placing the headphones over my ears through the hat.

Seeing my actions, the audience in the live broadcast room naturally filled their complaints in the chat with a keyboard-style troll barrage.

'??? '

'Awesome! Brother Hua has quite thick skin!' (༎ຶꈊ༎ຶ╬)

'Exactly! Horror games are nothing to him, See how his body is doodling?'

'Don't worry, we know you're not scared at all!'

😊,

Reading the increasingly sarcastic comments in the chat, I felt the urge to argue, but couldn't find a good reason to refute them.

Fully armed, I replaced the dead battery in the camera and continued exploring.

As I walked into a room, I saw the smashed furniture, the bloodstains all over the ground and walls, and, more horrifyingly, there were mutilated corpses stuffed into the cabinets on the floor, their heads missing.

With the camera in night vision mode, the pale green screen added an extra layer of horror to the whole scene.

The sight of those corpses and scattered limbs on the ground was so gruesome that I could hardly bear to look at them.

As I stood in the middle of the room, suddenly one of the 'corpses' spoke.

Quack, Cough no, no It was 'Quick!' (⁄ ⁄•⁄_⁄•⁄ ⁄)

I jumped in fright, my half-closed eyes now wide open in shock behind the hat, but this time I didn't scream.

"You're kidding me! People could get a heart attack from this!" I muttered.

Looking toward the voice, I saw a man impaled on a steel bar, looking like a human kebab.

'Quick... quick... run!'

'They killed us... all of us... quick... before they find you... quick...'

'Get out of here... this building...'

'Wahhh! Wahhh! Wahhh!'

After speaking, the dying man fell silent. This character was just a plot device, and his only purpose was to deliver those lines.

But right now, I don't care, about uncovering the mysteries behind this Mental Hospital.

I only had one thought: Run! Quack! No Quick! Run!

The scene, the atmosphere—it was all too suffocating.

Everything is wrong, unsettling.

Why on earth was I playing this game? Why was I exploring this terrifying mental hospital? I questioned my mind.

"Fuck, let me out! Let me out!"

Using the camera's night vision, I hurried out of the claustrophobic little room and found myself in a corridor with slightly better lighting.

But what I didn't notice was that as soon as I stepped into the hallway, a dark shadow darted past the doorway next to me.

Escape continued...
