Chapitre 51: Chapter 51: The Power Reserved for the Gods

"This... no way!"

Tasha's face was filled with disbelief.

Although her husband was a top-notch psychologist with a handsome income, they were only considered upper-middle class in the United States. How could anyone be targeting them?

Tasha found it hard to believe, and seeing this, Rhode didn't bother explaining. After all, he couldn't exactly tell her that it was an evil spirit, right?

Not dwelling on the matter, Rhode greeted her briefly and then drove away.

Tasha quickly brushed the incident aside.

Looking at the mess in the yard, she sighed. The party had gone on late last night, and they hadn't had the time to clean up. She had planned to clean up with her husband in the morning, but at the crack of dawn, Haman received a phone call.

He was told that a special patient in a neighboring state needed his attention, and he wouldn't be back for three days, leaving her to deal with the mess on her own.

Sighing again, Tasha started cleaning up. Fortunately, the amount of work wasn't too large.

It wasn't long before the yard was mostly tidy.

Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she noticed her clothes clinging to her body, wet with sweat, her perfect curves faintly visible.

"So dirty!"

Tasha looked at herself with a bit of disdain. Although she wasn't a clean freak, she was someone who liked to stay tidy.

She walked into the house and headed straight to the bathroom.

Turning on the shower, she began washing the sweat off her body.

"Ah!"

Suddenly, a sharp scream echoed.

The sound seemed to come from just outside the bedroom. Startled, Tasha quickly wrapped herself in a towel and rushed to the bedside table, pulling out a handgun from the drawer.

"Who's out there?"

Her nervous voice trembled as she cautiously made her way outside the bedroom.

But she found the door and windows all locked with no signs of anyone entering.

"What's going on? Am I hallucinating?"

She searched the entire room but found no trace of anyone. Tasha's face was filled with confusion.

When she stepped outside the bedroom, she suddenly noticed a layer of black ash scattered on the floor near the door.

Her gaze fell on the door, where only a half-burnt rope was hanging.

"What happened?"

Tasha lightly covered her mouth, her face full of shock.

Earlier, Rhode had given her a few protective charms. When she came home, she had casually hung one on the bedroom door.

Now, the charm had burned itself?

Thinking of the eerie, inhuman scream from earlier, Tasha felt a chill run down her spine.

Could it be that evil spirits really exist?

With that thought, Tasha held her breath and rushed back to the bedroom, pulling out the rest of the protective charms from a drawer.

In a panic, she grabbed her phone and tried calling her husband.

But after several attempts, no one answered.

Tasha felt a wave of disappointment wash over her.

At that moment, Rhode's image suddenly flashed in her mind.

The charms were given by Rhode. Perhaps he had already known about the evil spirit in the house?

Meanwhile, on the other side.

In a classroom.

Rhode sat among a group of male students, feeling the heated gazes from those around him. He sighed with a bit of relief.

Although many students were secretly glancing at him, they were far enough away that they weren't affected by the aura he emitted.

As a result, the female students weren't as crazed as they had been before.

As the class began, everything seemed to return to normal.

The professor was lecturing passionately, but Rhode was yawning constantly.

Of every ten sentences, he could only understand about two and a half, with the rest left to guesswork.

It was torture for someone with only high school knowledge to sit through college-level lectures. It was making life tough for him.

At this rate, never mind graduating early, he'd be lucky if he could graduate at all.

After enduring the lecture until the end, Rhode managed to gather a pile of textbooks and notes.

Time to make a sacrifice!

A flood of knowledge poured into his mind, and in an instant, he felt confident again.

"This ability is practically cheating," Rhode couldn't help but marvel. Without any effort at all, he could perfectly grasp the knowledge just by making a sacrifice.

If he sacrificed all the books in the world, he couldn't even imagine how powerful he would become.

"Physics, biology, alchemy, potion-making..."

As the vast array of knowledge settled in his mind, Rhode suddenly realized that modern scientific theories seemed to have a deep connection with magical civilizations.

For example, the material transmutation in alchemy could be accomplished using modern technology as well, though the cost would be far higher than magic.

Similarly, things that modern technology could achieve with ease often required complex and extensive magical spells.

If the two were combined, many difficult tasks could become much simpler.

It was like two different paths leading to the same destination—truth!

Whether it's magic or technology, at their core, both are attempts to understand the world and its rules.

"If I merge biology with alchemical golem studies, I might be able to create alchemical creatures that are almost indistinguishable from humans."

Rhode's eyes gleamed with intense interest.

Though alchemical golem studies were complex and profound, when it came to understanding the human body, modern biology was undoubtedly more specialized.

This was a limitation of the past.

In an era where desecrating corpses could lead to execution by hanging, the only scholars daring enough to explore human anatomy were the lawless necromancers.

If modern biology and alchemical golem studies could be perfectly integrated, perhaps Rhode could touch upon powers reserved only for the gods.

The power to create life!
