The sun was shining over the city, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team was starting their day. The bus was in a secure location, and the team was gathered in the plane's dining area, preparing for breakfast. Fitz, Simmons, Skye, and May were sitting at the table, talking about the day ahead. The day Ward left to find Maria shows the day the team had.
Skye, with a curious look, asked:
"Hey, guys, where's Ward? Today was the day he was supposed to start training with me."
Coulson, who was organizing some reports, looked at Skye and smiled slightly.
"Ward asked for the day off. He's going to spend the day with his girlfriend. I gave him the day off, and he'll start training tomorrow."
Skye frowned, remembering that Ward had mentioned his girlfriend earlier. She then asked:
— "Ward said he had a girlfriend, but he didn't tell me much about her. Have you guys met his girlfriend?"
May, who was taking a sip of coffee, answered in a light tone:
— "Yes, his girlfriend is the Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Maria Hill."
The reactions of the others were immediate. Fitz and Simmons stared at May with their mouths open, while Skye looked shocked and curious.
— "Maria Hill?" Fitz repeated, clearly surprised. — "I didn't know Ward was dating someone so important."
— "Wow," Simmons added, still impressed. — "How did they meet?"
Coulson, who had been listening to the conversation, decided to intervene to clarify.
— "They met at an event at the White House in 2011, when President Obama awarded Ward and his team with Silver Stars. It was a ceremony in recognition of their actions during a very important mission."
Skye thought for a moment, remembering the news from that year.
— "2011... Wait a minute, that was the year Osama Bin Laden was killed. It was Ward's team that did that mission, right? Only you can confirm that, Coulson."
Everyone turned to Coulson, eager for an answer. Coulson nodded slowly, confirming.
— "Yes, it was Ward's team that carried out the mission to eliminate Osama Bin Laden. Ward was the leader of DEVGRU's Bravo Team at the time. And yes, it was Ward specifically who killed Osama."
The others' looks grew even more impressed. Fitz and Simmons looked shocked, while May, who kept a more reserved expression, also looked impressed.
— "Wow," Fitz said, shaking his head. "I knew Ward was an impressive guy, but I had no idea he had this level of accomplishment."
— "That's true," Simmons agreed. "And he never bragged about it?"
— "Never," Coulson confirmed. — "Ward has always been a discreet professional. And besides, he was part of another important mission. In 2009, he and his team rescued Captain Phillips from Somali pirates in Somalia. Again, it was DEVGRU's Bravo Team, led by Ward." The revelation caused a wave of surprise and murmurs among the team. Skye, wide-eyed, asked:
— "So, Ward was part of these epic missions. And then, he joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and started working with Black Widow and Hawkeye?"
Coulson nodded. — "Exactly. Ward has become one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top specialist, and over the years, he's worked alongside several of the Avengers. He was present at the Battle of New York, but he worked in the shadows. He's the kind of guy who gets the job done without seeking the spotlight."
Skye, Fitz, Simmons, and May were stunned by the information. The revelation about the true extent of Ward's accomplishments and his relationship with Maria Hill was more than they had imagined.
— "That's impressive," Skye said in awe. — "I had no idea he had so much experience and accomplishments."
— "Neither did I," Fitz agreed. — "That completely changes the way I view Ward. He's a much more respected agent than I thought."
— "I knew he had a history," May said, her tone more serious, — "but hearing all this is even more impressive. He definitely deserves the respect he gets."
Coulson smiled at the admiration and respect shown by the team.
— "Yes, Ward is an exceptional agent. And he has always been someone who works hard and is dedicated to the mission. That is what makes him so valuable to S.H.I.E.L.D."
The group continued to talk about the revelations, discussing the impact this information had on them and how it changed their perception of Ward. Breakfast, which had started as a simple meal, became a conversation filled with respect and admiration for a colleague who, until then, had been seen only as a competent officer.
The day wore on, and as the team prepared for their tasks, Skye, Fitz, and Simmons became more aware of Ward's legacy and accomplishments. They were eager to begin training with him now that they understood more about him.
