Irina POV
Hector Valente's palatial home had two towers with balconies. Irina stood upon the balcony of one of the towers, watching the city below, trying to sense the panic.
And there was plenty of it. She could see the citizens passing out her leaflets, whipping everyone into a frenzy of paranoia. It felt delicious. It was all for a good cause. The Wilberforce b*tch was supposed to be food and a sacrifice, NOT Dimitri's eternal companion. She'd made Dimitri upset the natural order to save her own skin.
What Irina did, she did to set things right. In the vampire world, there were certain rules people followed.
Be superior.
As Anne Rice wrote, be "beautiful, powerful, and without regret."
Make sure humans know their place and know who their masters are.
When the eldest or the only princess of Trenholm comes of age every fifty years, she will be sacrificed to the Lyunovs to keep the peace--and maintain dominance over the humans.
Irina is a fascinating rival/antagonist for Ari!
