"I'll be fine, Nan!" I replied flatly, looking out the window. "I hate myself on days like this."

"I hate it for you too but, there's going to be a way soon. You know how curious these humans are, maybe when you're done with school, we could start looking for solutions. I'm sure there'll be a way."

"Yeah!" I nodded, refusing to meet her gaze.

After settling me in and fluffing the pillows and ensuring that I needed everything I wanted within arm's reach.
