Chapitre 89: Rewards and New Orders [2]

Jun did not stay to receive the rewards; he, along with an army of fifteen thousand soldiers, began moving toward the Qin border, where in fact an army of a thousand soldiers was waiting to receive them.

As he had imagined, the king of Wei entrusted him with the task of protecting the border connected to the forest, the Zhao border. This gave Jun the perfect opportunity to devise good battle plans.

That is why he left the White Crane assassin clan and over a thousand soldiers in the forest, where they would create a direct passage so that thousands of soldiers could march straight into Zhao in formation.

But Jun wouldn't stay to supervise these orders; he had to return to start moving his personal army, which he had been secretly building.

A few days later, Rugal was in command of those soldiers. Over the past two years, his attitude had completely changed, and he now seemed like a truly capable general.

"My Lord, I'm glad to see you back." Rugal gave a ceremonial salute along with the thousand elite soldiers under his command.

Jun wasn't one for these ceremonies, but he didn't dismiss respect, so he said, "You must have received my orders; tell me about the process of the initiatives along the way."

Kyou Kai did not interfere in this conversation; she had never involved herself in these mediations, which mostly dealt with techniques she didn't know much about.

On the way, Rugal said, "We're moving military equipment to the secret bases, while the most important ones are being taken to the secret city in Sword Mountain for the army."

"The young ones are being moved along with their mothers. Now, only the soldiers and artisans remain, working to create catapults for the main army."

Jun nodded slightly, and then they directed their army toward the city that was slowly being evacuated. "What about the food supply?"

"We're in good condition. We even sent tons of food to be sold to the Qin army, which hasn't stopped fighting to expand its territory." Rugal knew about the dry food reserves they had, but the vegetable food warehouses were quickly being distributed, and whatever was left over was sold to others.

"Well, we still have some time, but we'll be fine as long as we act intelligently." Jun needed to make plans to take advantage of what was coming.

Of course, this information could be very true, so they wanted to provide this piece of power to the current king to see what he would do.

"Have you sent the letter to the king?"

Rugal nodded slightly and said, "We used an eagle for the delivery; we didn't want to risk using a crow."

"That was a good choice."

"How is the battlefield?" Kyou Kai was interested in the situation at the front line.

"A lot has happened. One of the most notable things was the death of the great general." Rugal stopped when he saw a cavalry approaching from a distance at great speed.

Jun tugged at his horse's reins to move forward and gave the order, "Battle formation, prepare for new orders."

Shen understood this and quickly began issuing orders.

"Hmm, I suppose my army caused panic on the borderlines." Jun had a rough idea of what was happening, but he still didn't take any chances and prepared for battle.

"Allies?" Kyou Kai brought her horse closer to Jun's, ready to support him if a fight broke out.

Rugal frowned because he couldn't make out the banners of the approaching battalion. "I'm not sure, but I think they're allies."

"They're enemies until proven otherwise." Jun watched as his army took formation behind him, and within minutes, they were ready for battle.

The shield wall appeared, and the spears were raised. Shen's battalion of archers positioned themselves, drawing arrows and setting them to their bows. Meanwhile, the cavalry stood behind the shield wall, waiting for orders.

Sixteen thousand soldiers in formation made a formidable army that shouldn't be taken lightly, especially one as well-trained and equipped as Jun's.

This halted the advance of the opposing battalion, which didn't seem to have more than a thousand men. So Jun, accompanied by Kyou Kai and Rugal, approached.

"To what affiliation do you belong?" A strong voice was heard from the other side, to which Rugal immediately shouted: "You are in the presence of a Marquis of Qin, Jun Asura, general of a great army and lord of several cities."

Jun wasn't bothered by this introduction; there was nothing to hide.

"Jun?"

"Do you know him?"

"Does he know me?" Jun's mind reset; there was more blood and death in his memories than faces to remember.

"That's Shin." After a moment, Kyou Kai was able to recognize whose voice it was.
