"Hah..."
"Could that explosion last night have been caused by the other participants?"
Katsuya Jonouchi had just woken up from a deep sleep and glanced out the window, muttering as he saw the direction where the tremors had come from.
He hadn't gotten involved in the battle last night, but it was obvious that the so-called "tournament" had already begun.
"Alright! Time to find someone for a duel!"
Jonouchi, ever the carefree type, didn't worry too much about what had happened. His main concern was finding an opponent.
"Hm?"
He glanced at the Duel Disk on his arm and noticed that the spell and trap zones were filled with cards.
The single monster he had sent out hadn't returned yet.
"Heh, gotta give it a shot."
For Jonouchi, this "war" was just another duel.
If he could gather all six Dragon Balls and make a wish, he'd hit the jackpot. He still had several companions whose souls needed saving, and if he could achieve that through this war, it would be worth it.

"What's the meaning of this, Kirei?"
Gilgamesh lounged on the sofa, leisurely sipping wine as he eyed Kirei Kotomine, who stood before him.
On the table in front of him lay a shining Dragon Ball.
"It's simply a transaction."
Kirei didn't sit down. He was choosing to act in his own best interests.
"I see..."
"This orb is indeed something my treasury has never seen before."
"Its luster and value are undeniable. Not bad."
Gilgamesh cast a glance at the Dragon Ball with two stars inside. He was indeed intrigued by the item.
Even with his vast knowledge and experience, he had never encountered such a miraculous creation before.
It could be the work of a god or perhaps an artifact from an ancient civilization. Regardless, it was something Gilgamesh coveted. After all, the King of Heroes desired all things he did not already possess.
"You've clearly thought carefully about what would please me."
"As a loyal servant, you've succeeded in making me happy this time."
It was no wonder Kirei had acted so boldly. He had obviously taken into account the unique nature of this Holy Grail War.
"Hmph, consider it a reward."
Without hesitation, Gilgamesh absorbed the Dragon Ball into his treasury. At the same time, a rippling portal appeared behind him, and an object wrapped in cloth emerged.
"What is this?"
Catching the bag that flew toward him, Kirei felt its weight.
"It's an elixir from a land where the people worship gods. They call it an 'immortal pill.'"
"Consume it, and any injury will be healed."
Gilgamesh smiled knowingly, fully aware of Kirei's intentions.
Though Kirei was strong for a Master, he still needed his Servant's assistance. Letting Assassin remain gravely injured would make him vulnerable.
In short, Kirei couldn't afford to leave Assassin in such a state. However, healing Assassin's injuries quickly wasn't easy.
After much consideration, Kirei had no choice but to ask for help from the "King of Heroes." Of course, this transaction was made without informing his mentor, Tohsaka Tokiomi.
"Losing the Dragon Ball means you've forfeited your wish, but going behind Tokiomi's back like this shows you're not entirely loyal either."
"As long as I still control my Servant, I can always obtain more Dragon Balls from other participants. I'm not worried."
Kirei's response was calm, showing no sign of being swayed by Gilgamesh's words.
"Hahaha, you truly understand the situation."
"Yes, this Holy Grail War is different from the others."
"It brings new delights."
Gilgamesh was clearly in a good mood. He had never seen a war like this before.
Mysterious Dragon Balls, strange Heroic Spirits, and the desires and conflicts between Masters and Servants—all of it was thrilling to him.
Even if he did nothing, he was eager to see how this battle would play out in the end.
"How amusing, Kirei."

"What do you think, Lancer? Pretty good, right?"
"Hah, it's delicious."
In a hotel room, while Kenneth was busy meticulously setting up magical barriers and defenses, his Master and her Servant were already enjoying a meal.
"I have to say, even if you've gone through all that effort, it won't make much of a difference."
"Last night's cannon blast—if they were aiming at us, all this work would have been useless."
Lancer, in her casual form as Kyoko Sakura, glanced back at Kenneth, offering some friendly advice.
She found it hard to understand this stubborn man's mindset. If not for the fact that he was her Master's fiancé, she wouldn't even bother talking to him.
"Yeah, you wanted Lancer to attack last night. It's a good thing I stopped you."
"Otherwise, she would've ended up like Assassin, heavily injured."
Sola-Ui chimed in with a slight hint of reproach in her voice. Kenneth had tried to command Lancer to attack during the previous night's battle, unwilling to let a good opportunity slip by.
But in hindsight, holding back had been the right decision. Not everyone was lucky enough to survive an attack like that.
"Hmph, I was just being cautious."
Kenneth's face darkened, but he still huffed dismissively.
Given how the battle between Servants had escalated to such a high level, he hadn't expected things to be so intense.
He still wasn't sure if last night's blast was the result of a Noble Phantasm being unleashed.
Even more importantly, he had yet to identify the class of the enemy Servant, though he suspected it was Caster.
"While it's important to keep mysteries hidden, there are those who don't care about societal norms and act on their own whims."
"Your preparations could easily be undone by someone like that."
Kyoko understood such people well. She had known someone like that—a magical girl named Homura Akemi, who cared little for anything other than her own objectives.
Except for Madoka Kaname, nothing could sway her.
"If you have time to say that, maybe you should go gather some information? That's what you should be doing as a Servant, not sitting here and eating."
"Sorry, Kenneth, but I'm the Master now. Could you stop giving orders to my Servant?"
"Sola."
Though Kenneth had been humiliated by his fiancée many times already, he hadn't gotten angry.
After all, he wasn't the Master this time—he was here as an assistant.
If it weren't for his insistence, Sola wouldn't have agreed to let him come along.
"He's right, though. I've eaten enough."
"It's time to go scout out the other Servants and Masters."
"After all, I need to give something back in return."
Having finished her meal, Kyoko stood up, speaking seriously.
She wasn't here just to have fun. She had her own goals—to save her former comrade who had turned into a witch.
No matter what it took, she would try anything.
This time, she was determined to win!
