Chapitre 70: Chapter 70: The Box and the Diadem

"Tell me your understanding of the Undetectable Extension Charm," Professor Murray continued to smile.

"Yes," Wade replied seriously.

"The Undetectable Extension Charm is a type of spatial charm. I believe it can achieve both spatial extension and spatial folding simultaneously. This spell can be applied to any material—metal, soil, fabric, wood—as long as it's a closed, finite space.

Theoretically, the Undetectable Extension Charm can extend space from limited to infinite, but in practice, its effectiveness is influenced by many factors, the most direct being the material, the wizard's magical power, and their understanding of the spell---"

Professor Murray nodded slightly.

Most of what Wade explained could be found in books, but integrating all of this information wasn't an easy task. Moreover, his explanation included Muggle theories and his own thoughts, which could make for an excellent paper.

It was clear that he had done a lot of homework beforehand, and this kind of diligent and meticulous approach was what Professor Murray appreciated most.

"---To sum up, the Undetectable Extension Charm is extremely difficult to use and can easily be misused. Therefore, it is strictly controlled by the Ministry of Magic---"

Wade paused at this point, glanced at Professor Murray, and then continued under the professor's amused gaze:

"Magical ministries worldwide have regulations that the Undetectable Extension Charm cannot be used for private purposes and can only be applied to the production of certain approved items.

Wizards are also prohibited from possessing items enchanted with the Undetectable Extension Charm without approval from the Ministry of Magic."

Professor Murray couldn't help but chuckle.

"Indeed—we are discussing how to break the Ministry of Magic's laws.

But Wade, if an alchemist doesn't have a suitcase with the Undetectable Extension Charm, they can hardly be called a real alchemist. Of course, to avoid trouble with the Ministry, we also need to learn a few concealment techniques."

He raised his hand, summoned a book from the shelf, and handed it to Wade.

"This book contains a clever little trick. It will teach you how to make your suitcase appear ordinary most of the time and change its appearance when needed.

It's a very challenging task, my boy. Both the Undetectable Extension Charm and this concealment spell are difficult. I look forward to seeing what you can do—and, of course, if you have any questions, you can always ask me."

Wade flipped through the book briefly, carefully put it away, and then pulled out a piece of parchment.

"Actually, I do have quite a few questions for you."

On the parchment, there was a list of some twenty or thirty questions, none of which could be answered in just a few sentences.

"Oh—quite the eager learner, aren't you?"

Professor Murray mumbled, then put on his glasses and began answering them one by one. Wade immediately took out paper and pen to take notes. By the time the questions were answered, the session had far exceeded the planned tutoring time.

"Professor," Wade said as he was about to leave, "there's one more small thing."

"Yes, what is it?"

Professor Murray was already feeling a bit tired but still responded patiently.

"Well, over the past few days, I've taken some time to make a box, and I'd like you to take a look to see if there are any flaws."

Wade pulled out a long, rectangular oak box from the bottom of his bag. It looked quite ordinary, with no obvious magic runes or markings.

Professor Murray recited a spell and carefully inspected the box.

"Hmm—this can block the aura of magic items? No—more like isolate it—and it's also protected with anti-theft charms, anti-Alohomora spells, curse-breaking charms, and anti-malice spells—"

He looked at Wade in surprise. "Are you planning to store some powerful dark magic object?"

Wade smiled a bit sheepishly. "Actually, I was hoping to borrow some books from the Restricted Section, but I've heard that some of these books are infused with powerful dark magic and can affect anyone who gets too close—"

Professor Murray burst out laughing. "Oh, Wade—Wade—my boy, you're being overly cautious—"

He laughed for a while, and seeing Wade's growing embarrassment, he finally wiped the tears from his eyes and said:

"Don't worry, when students borrow books from the Restricted Section, Madam Pince always does some processing to prevent any negative effects on them."

Wade's face flushed slightly, and he said, somewhat dejectedly, "So—was making this box all for nothing?"

"Oh, not at all—being cautious is always good," Professor Murray reassured him.

"Your box is excellently made; it can isolate the vast majority of dark magic items, preventing any harmful effects from reaching the outside world. At the very least, when you go to bed at night, you can use it to store any dangerous books."

Wade still didn't seem completely reassured and asked, "Then what kind of dark magic items wouldn't be completely isolated?"

"It depends on their size, my boy," Professor Murray replied, still with a hint of amusement in his voice. "If something's too big to fit entirely in your box, then naturally, its magical power will leak out. But if your box can seal it completely from end to end, you won't have to worry about any dark magic escaping."

...

Late at night, a figure wandered back and forth on the seventh floor of the castle...

"I need a place to hide something—a place to hide something—a place to hide something—"

The familiar door appeared once again. Without hesitation, Wade pulled it open and walked in, lighting up the surroundings with his wand.

In a room resembling a city, piled-up furniture casted strange, distorted shadows all around. Wade searched along the central path, section by section, and finally found his target beside a cabinet with a bubbled surface.

An old, rusty diadem lay on a heap of junk, looking no different from the other trash around it, perhaps even more decrepit. The dull gemstones on it appeared like unpolished stones.

Above the diadem were the words[Tom Riddle]floating.

If not for this line of words, Wade might not have been able to identify his target amidst this mountain of rubbish. He vaguely remembered the diadem being in a fancy-looking box, not in such a dusty, shabby state.

But regardless, memories from over a decade ago were unreliable, while his eyes had not deceived him.

Wade placed the oak box on the ground, picked up an old pair of tongs from the nearby junk pile, stretched out his arm to keep a safe distance, and carefully lifted the diadem with the tongs. He dropped it into the box, closed the lid, and sealed it with multiple layers of spells, finally relaxing his tense nerves.

With the diadem, Wade could not freely experiment with the Room of Requirement's functions; he was wary of the diadem's potential influence.

Additionally, Wade worried that someone else might discover this place due to his frequent comings and goings, and end up being manipulated by the Horcrux, much like Ginny Weasley, causing a major disaster. Now, with the Horcrux completely isolated, Wade felt a sense of relief and excitement.

There was so much about the Room of Requirement that he wanted to explore!

As he was leaving, Wade instinctively pressed his hand against his backpack, only to hear a sudden voice say, "It's best not to take anything out of the Room of Requirement, my boy."
