Hayden took out his phone from his bag and clicked on it before showing me the phone screen.

“This…” He pointed at the screen, and I checked it to see my photo with Theo that was taken secretly being displayed.

“Have you fallen in love with him? Have you accepted him as your mate?” he asked.

His question made me nervous. Should I continue to lie to him and tell him that Theo and I had accepted each other? But what if, in the future, I found out that Theo wasn’t suitable for me?

“It’s none of your business.” In the end, I preferred not to answer his question.

“Why does it matter to you, anyway?” I shrugged and joked, “Are you jealous if I’m mated to Theo?”

I expected him to snort, look down on me, be sarcastic, or even arrogant, but his serious expression didn’t change.

“Yes, I’m jealous if you are mated to him,” he answered seriously without hesitation after a few seconds of silence.
